New Paramount Parks Ride Survey

^ Disney wannabe. The repeat issue was my top concern, especially if effects are dropped.

You got that right Paramount does drop alot of effects after a ride is built. Unlike Disney they fix the effects so people don't complain.

Why in the world would some of you want a Titanic ride that evokes emotions of sadness? My God People, we go to amusment parks to get away from that stuff, do you actually think Paramount would willingly want to depress their guests?

Think logically for a few minuets here...

Well, judging from my last visit.......
Well I was the one that said PKI will bring back the cars as The Nick Car wash they had it all planned out to relocate them in Nick Central in 2006 under a different name and theme when they announced IJ:ST but noone listened until now. Also since PKI will expand Nick Central in 2006 expect to see the Nick Carwash on the site of the Green Slime Maze and Spongebob Squarepants:Crash Course Boating School in the park .Plus you can expect to see loads of new theming to the Nicktoons and Hanna-Barbera land will became smaller starting in 2006 so it would be wise to ride or have your kids ride your or there favorite HBL themed rides as much as you or they can. Yes FoF will be re-themed in 2006 to the Mtv Soundwave .Something for the Families and something for the Thrill seekers. For those of you that Love the TVLand Diner Idea well good news for you. You can lookout for a new TVLand theme going into Preston T. Tucker's Roadside Inn in 2006.

There you have it believe it or not. *** Edited 9/12/2004 1:47:00 AM UTC by MysteryIncs1#Fan***

Sometimes just the movie title or a character/location in the movie may lend itself better to a ride than the movie itself ex: Volcano, Drop Zone, Face/Off

None of these rides really tie in with their movie counterparts. Volcano the Blast Coaster isn't set in Los Angeles, Face/off fits the seating on the ride more than the gruesome theme of the movie, and while you do drop on Drop Zone, the movie was about parachuting. No chutes there.

The Mini Cooper trains on The Italian Job ride might be cool but the movie title just doesn't belong on a ride. A weeks pay says it doesn't last as long as Outer Limits or Wayne's World.

As for the person who asked why they would re- theme FOF as MTV. That's simple. Easy/cheap way to claim you have a new ride since it's kind of a new experience. Remember the log flumes at PKI and PC? They were packaged as new rides when Nick theming was added.

^^ I'm going with the not. Well, maybe a partial not. I'll give you the car wash and additional theming, but I don't see FoF getting re-themed. It just doesn't make any sense to RE-theme a coaster.

^ Were the flumes themed before Nick got involved?

I won't say they wouldn't do it, But I doubt it as well, Neuski.

Why would they re-theme a coaster that they take the time to update regularly? Its been Outer Limits FoF(never rode), and I know that when I rode it @ PKD, they had a different que speil than PKI did this year. I wouldn't put it past them to put the same Premier layout @ other parks and call it Soundwave, but I just don't see them re-theming a coaster. Why would they?

As for the re-themeing of Log flumes to wild thornberry, That re-theme came with the re-theming of the entire area, and they actually just added themeing to the log flumes.

Carowinds doesn't have a launch coaster. PGA and PCW don't either, do they? Soundwave would be great for the three of them...

They would consider the re-theme because the ride has lost it's old theme and they may want to make it a little non-generic. It would be inexpensive to do, and the live DJ idea is way cool. It would be like a rave in an abandond warehouse with a coaster climax.

Concerning themes, If they kept the mindless "reality" garbage away, and "Music" in, the idea sounds great to me.

And let me reiterate, This is just the way I perceive things :)

Mr. Mole, You have to give 1 brownie point back for not reading the thread before posting :)

MysteryIncs1#fan, You have a wierd name. I hope the people who you get your info from don't get mad at you for spilling the beans, if those are actually real beans you keep spilling :)

Paramount lost the Outer Limits license so thats why you can expecet to see it being re-themed to the Mtv soundwave but thats just one of the reasons I wont go into detail. As for Nick Central they are adding on to and expanding the area with two new kiddie rides plus one ride will be re-themed to a certain popular Nicktoon about fairys the two new rides are The Nickelodeon CarWash and Spongebob Squarepants:Crash Course Boating School with tons of new theming in the area.I will say this much that the Busy town grill will get a new theme with the Nick expansion so will Atom Ants airwaves it will be themed to popular Nicktoon cartoon that has Fairys in the title''Hint-Hint again''.As for someone saying if my spilling of beans is right or wrong well I will guarantee that come late summer 2005 you will all know the truth and that the truth as just been told to all of you now please excuse me while I go get fired. :( ;) *** Edited 9/12/2004 4:39:29 PM UTC by MysteryIncs1#Fan*** *** Edited 9/12/2004 4:41:21 PM UTC by MysteryIncs1#Fan***
I know that FOF lost it's Outer Limits license, but I still thought it was the best themed ride in the park.

I think a good Sci-Fi theme would beat the MTV theme anyday.

The Music theme has already been done very well by Disney, why try to copy that and destroy a really good theme that no one else has?

Maybe they should just put the old restraints on and do the Mean Girls theme.

Personally, I think a possible FoF retheme into MTV Soundwave has more to do with corporate synergy than anything else. It would be a relatively in-expensive way to do corporate cross-promotion. The Flight of Fear theme is old and 'outdated', plus they lost their right to use the more familiar (and marketable) name "Outer Limits" in the title. They could also market it as a new ride experience. With new lighting effects, visual FX, and an onboard sound system, it certainly would 'feel' new to many average park-goers. It also would definitely appeal to the younger generation for which this ride was designed for.

Personally, I like the current FoF theme. But, some corporate leaders may be pushing for more 'exposure' of their 'products'. A retheme of an existing ride is much cheaper than building a new attraction. Also, it is quite possible that they may ALSO be thinking of building new versions of this type of ride at some of their other parks as well, but with the new theme. Anything is possible...

. Anything is possible...
I think Walt Disney said that about DisneyLand not Paramounts Kings Island.

but I don't see FoF getting re-themed. It just doesn't make any sense to RE-theme a coaster.

Paramount's already done it twice at PGA to the exact same coaster:

And I agree with Coaster Cynic, Paramount sure does have strange choices of movies to base attractions off of. Sky Captain will almost certainly be a huge hit, a heavily themed thrill ride would tie in perfectly.

But in typical Parmount fashion, seems they're already planning on a "major theme park attraction" based on Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War Of The Worlds (see very last paragraph):
