New Info!

From "Computer Games" magazine (June 2004):

-Day/Night Modes

-Time Acceleration

-Completly Different UI

-Random Situations (EX: A heat wave that requires more drink stands, more shade, aerosol deodorant in vending machines) or non-random situations (EX: High School Grad-nights)

-Health Inspectors

-Lawyers (for ride accidents)

-Property foreclosure

-Elevators (as part of walkways)

-Says all old coaster types included. Talks about new types, but makes refrences to "giga-coasters" and "racing & dueling coasters"

-Laser Tag

-The producer also says they have add-ons planned which include new themes and rides.

I can't wait for the add on so that I can put giant Pizzas in the middle of my Pizza themed ride.

Down is the new up.
Umm. It's a whole new game... not an add on..

Yeah, he knows that. Read the last line of the first post.

The random situations reminds me of Theme Hospital. TH is a great game and at random times a dialogue would pop up and ask if you want to accept an emergency or send them to another hospital. If none of them died you got bonus cash.

Sounds like this game would use that same concept and let you accept mini-missions to accomodate large groups and keep them happy.

I think this is exactly what RCT needs and it will make the game play consistently and variously interactive. I give HUGE props to this development team on RCT3 for making this game far beyond what I would have ever imagined.

It sounds to me like this will be similar to Disasters on Sim City 2000. I always turned those off. Tornados suck.

Also, has anyone else never seen elevators as part of paths at a real park, or am I just misunderstanding with this is?

Maybe the elevators are for the handicapped peeps? Or those faking a handicap so they can get a front-row seat without waiting? Hmm... I wonder how smart the AI on those peeps are going to really be, and if they have any evil thoughts.

It sounds good... but it also sounds like they want to milk this out for any money they can get on consumers with the expansion packs.
Why not give us the rides & themes in the game now, considering it's many months from relase? Because they can't make money off of it that way. I'm assuming they want to use this game similar how the Sims had all these expansion packs & more announced before the prior one was released.

The original RCT I don't think was planned with any expansion packs (until the popularity caught on & soared).

Either way... I'm sold.

I can't wait to make my first launched coaster at 100mph, right off the track & smash into a crowded midway! ;)
Let's see what the lawyers will do to me then.

Guys, it's 3D. Elevators are *required* to show off the nifty 3D-ness. Whether or not elevators might actually be used in such situations is totally beside the point.

Woo hoo! Day and night mode! That one sentence just eliminated a lot of complaints and requests.

(But more on the way, chances are people are going to start asking for more modes, like sunrise, sunset, fog, and almost everything that we see in the sky. :))

There are only 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who dont.
The elevators bring to mind Astro-Orbiters at DisneyWorld... it allows you to build rides up on a high level without having to build stairs all the way up.

If I get this game, I plan to boycott elevators.

Down is the new up.
Thanks for sharing.
Why are you going to "boycott elevators?" I mean, people... elevators are (for one) essential, and secondly, they serve the purpose of allowing injured peeps to get on your rides ;).

I want peeps to have evil thought and smash stuff. But I also want security guards that will actually chase them down and arrest them istead of just standing there! :)

I'm very happy to hear that it will indeed have day/night modes.

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.
Well, DawgByte, it is a business, and(dont tell anybody;)), I think the point is to make money:).

I can think of one coaster I've been on that has an elevator HC5 @ pavalion, cause the lift is so high up.

CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS GAME!!

The day/night mode sounds cool. The only thing that worries me is the 'Completely Different UI'. That's the main thing in the game that I didn't want changed. It was simple. Part of the game's charm was the ease of play. If it gets too complex, it will turn people away.

/\ User interface.

Now, since they're taking this game to a whole new level with realism and everything (I mean, come on, lawyers for ride accidents!) - do you think there could be the slightest possibility for sexual harrasment suits involving the costumed theme park entertainers and guests like we've read about oh so many times already? ;)

^The way the girls dress in this game, it would be THEIR fault in the first place! They´re asking for it!(sarcasm)!

Ocean Park in Hong Kong has the worlds longest escalator to transport guest up and down a 400 ft. mountain!

If guests misbehave there going into my flaming volcano pit. ;)

Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!

I'm buying this game the first day it comes out. Some of this stuff you guys are coming up with is way too in depth...i think. Haha. Sexual Harrasment?! Hahaha. Less is more, i say.
