New in RCT2

Sorry, but that's just how I feel about his "no cheating, not trainers" attitude, where he goes out of his way to try and prevent people from hacking around... apparently to the point of removing useful features (like window mode, since many trainers relied on it). I don't even use trainers myself. I just hate that control-freak attitude, especially since it never works anyway. People will FIND a way to hack. Why not just give your customers what they want? Since they're footing the bill, right?

And I already took back the 'nazi' thing, and replaced with with 'fascist'. Better?

yes i agree with spryboy in a sense, as there are some features missing that i'll have to deal without, thats it, not b!tch about it for hours on end in a forum, i mean come on, Chris made a whole new game, expansion, whatever you want to call it, he could of left us with the original RCT, take it for granted, also, spryboy, if your so disappointed with it, sell it, burn it, whatever just get rid of it, get out of RCT 2 forums, and build your own game with everything u want on it and see how it goes...

Rctycoon2k, there is this great new tool for improving grammar. It is called, the period. It is used to separate new ideas and make sentences more coherent. Please try to use a period every now and then. It really is not that hard. The best thing about the period though is that it is completely free!
Spryboy, your opinions don't offend me. Why would your opinion so racked with pessimisim and negative vibe offend me? Quite the contrary, your type simply bores me.

The only reason that everybody thinks this game sucks is because we all thought that what we wanted was going to be in the game. Unlike RCT1, where nobody really knew about the game when it came out. Then, when people got the game, they thought,"Oooo this game is cool." They didn't say, "Oh these graphics suck," or,"Why aren't there giga coasters?"

My point is that, we all expected RCT2 to blow us away just because of the new features. It did blow some of us away, but not some. Some were just *****in that what they wanted wasn't in the game.

What I have to say - "Life is unfair, get used to it."

And, Spryboy, fascist doesn't work either. Just give it up.

Some of you people just don't get it.

1. You start with RCT1 where people have expectations, but aren't sure how much of it is feasible in a game until it comes out.

2. RCT1 comes out and people say. "Oh cool so this is what a rollercoaster sim is like created by Chris Sawyer"

3. People enjoy what it has to offer and aren't too disappointed because it's the first sim game of it's type out (a pilot).

3. From this point on RCT1 becomes a foundation for what RCT2 should become. Ideas and expectations begin to brew

4. RCT2 hits the shelves and people go crazy about the new additions. Editors, block breaks, stackable scenary, more land, more peeps, more rides, etc....it's all on wishlists and we got it. But wait....the land tool, a the variety of paths/queues, no mute button..Where did these things go??

5. $*** hits the fan because the gameplay people are already used to has been modified. It's like Microsoft Word releasing it's new version and they've decided not to let you cut and paste anymore. They tell us, "We've decided you need to exit Microsoft Word and load up this new Document Editor to change what you've already typed. Also we're only going to let you choose from 3 font colors and red will always be ariel, blue will be times new roman, and black will be tahoma. Oh and we've prevented you from being able to turn off assistant paperclip"

See how rediculous it is to limit/remove your options and things in a sequel that were available and very well appreciated in the original?

I'm not complaining about the game, I play it for hours. I'm irritated that some of you people have this "life is unfair, deal with it" mentality when it's people like that who have no voice and don't take a stand.

I'm very shocked that the designers of this game have no sense of consumer relations and have made a lackluster attempt at making this sequal near 100% satisfactory to everyone. They've known for 3.5 years what people wanted and what people liked about RCT1. They should have used this information better and made RCT2 everything it should be which is RCT1 with new graphics, new features, new attractions, and leave the rest alone. Was that so hard for them to do???

OK, I'm done...this is my last post ever taking the prosecution side of player vs. RCT2. ;) It's getting boring and it's not like RCT2 will change, but I do hope an expansion makes some peace.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I made that point better at another site, but I guess it didn't sound right.

Ahahahahahahaha. Kcgreg that's the worst analogy ever. It really is. RCT2 does everything the first game did and more. Some of the methodology is different, sure, but this ridiculous notion that you somehow got cheated and the designer didn't make the game you wanted is outright insanity.

The best anyone has been able to do is that you can't terra form in-game. I agree, that's a bummer. Is it a show stopper? Not even remotely close. It is the only feature that is validly "missing."

You and Spryboy need to get over yourselves. You don't speak for the vast majority of consumers, so don't assume the role of consumer spokesman.

For a game that pisses you guys off so much and disappoints you so much, you sure can't seem to leave it alone. Staggering, too, how all these tracks keep getting uploaded to CoasterBuzz Games, all from a game that is just too disappointing.

This discussion has gotten so funny and so out of hand that I'm going to have to jump in. With regards to the pathing options, while I sympathize with Spryboy and also question why certain options were removed, I'm by no means going to let it affect my gameplay. If I'm in hardcore theming mode and it comes to be that my queue colors or railings don't fit my theme, I simply theme the queue. Most of the time I can barely even see the queue, let alone what railings it has. It's a perfectly simple solution to my problem.

In short:
pathing options = minor annoyance
scenery options = MAJOR improvement
scenery > pathing
problem solved.

forget the colors of the que line, the best new thing for them are those cool little tv monitors to keep the guests entertained

EVERYTHING, Jeff? Really? Can you enter a scenereo and mix and match queue colors with various supports? Nope. You can't. Run in a window? Nope. And is there any reason/justification for hiding the finance/research screen? Nope.

Interesting side note: WarCraft 3 just issued a new patch. When it came out, a LOT of people (myself included) *****ed to Blizzard about the lack of difficulty setting for the computer AI in custom games, even though it was there in the scenereo games. There were a lot of jerks like some of you that just said "shut up, who cares, I don't so you're not allowed to". Well, thanks in no small part to the outcry by a lot of people that actually cared to make their feelings known, this latest patch adds that feature. Very cool.

A lot of people don't care that the mountain-building tool is gone. Jeff cares, though. But he doesn't care about the paths, so I guess that doesn't matter. Stop being so self centered. And stop outright lying that "RCT2 does everything the first game did", when it most certainly does not. If it did, I wouldn't have much to bitch about, would I?

What most of us (myself in particular) have been saying is you don't like it, fine. Complaining here isn't going to get your issues (which obviously go beyond RCT2) resolved.

Thanks Great America!

The box claims that now we can "play our way", yet I cant build banked incline turns on the corkscrew or B&M inverted coasters. I can't make a wider radius for the Thrust Air, I can't edit the six flags coasters even in the "coaster Building/editing" mode. There are track items that should have been included in the first RTC, or at least corkscrew follies, but are still missing in this game. I can only give myself 10k to start a theme park or make money not matter at all, which isnt any fun....I can't talk on aim, mess with winamp while I play. Theres only like 2 new music themes, a couple new themes all together, some rides look like they were just imported from the original, the stations look the same, most everything looks as though its from the original. The supports are still simple beams, granted I can make my own but am still limited in how I can make them look. Yes there are some nice features, but this game doesnt say sequal to me. This game just seems like what the original *should" have been. And no disrespect to you jeff, Ive already been kicked off these boards more times that I can count, Im trying to keep it clean this time around, but you shouldnt be telling these guys to get over themselves. They havent made any comments that would even warrent a response like that, in fact....awww nevermind.

Did anyone ever see any of the Scream movies and the guy that always talked about the rules for a sequel?? Well this game just does not follow the rules of a good game sequel. (I know everyone here is going to flame me and say that there are no "rules" and the developer can do whatever he/she wants.) Anyway, this game ON ITS OWN is one of the greatest PC games EVER. But AS A SEQUEL it just does not cut it. This is not just a minority opinion. Many people on this board and every public game review has said pretty much the same thing. This is what RCT1 should have been(or at least been after the expansion packs). I know the improved physics(A VERY GOOD AND PROBABLY THE BEST NEW FEATURE) could not be magically perfected the first time around.

Anyway, I dont think any person on this board is just going to never play the game or totally hate the game, but many will be disappointed.

Maybe a poll idea: Are you disappointed with RCT2?

Spell it with me... SCENARIO. You'd think if you saw it enough times you'd get it.

Boohoo, I can't change queue path colors. Anyone else find the game unplayable because of it?

Can't play in a window. Boohoo, did I ever play in a window before? Only at work.

And the finance window isn't hidden, it's exactly where it could always be reached, and the toolbar takes up less screen real estate.

Next...

Right, I keep forgetting, if YOU don't think it's important, Jeff, then it's silly for anyone else to think it is. And I never said the queue/path thing made the game unplayable, I just said it is an annoying step backwards that removes one aspect of the game I really liked and was hoping to see improved, not demolished. Why can't you just admit that there are aspects of the game that are frustrating or steps backwards? Or do you just say "Oh Boo-hoo" to anyone who doesn't praise the game as absolutely perfect in every way, in every post?

Jeez Spryboy, if you can only think of two things wrong with the game then maybe you should shut up.

Jeez PlayerPunk, why don't you try reading other messages? You guys jump all over me if I say anything negative more than once, you think I'm going to list all the "disappointments" in every message? Even *I* would find that tedious :-) If you're going to slam me, at least pick something *valid* ;-)

Dang-it, I *like* the game, but that doesn't mean there aren't things that I'm disappointed with and wish were different, and hope are "fixed" in upcoming patches and expansion packs.

This is not a sequal....this is what RTC 1 should have been. Period. The game is fun, and I will play it, but it could have been much better, and there is no one, and I mean NO one that will not admit that this game had the potential to be so much more.

Well looking at all of your posts, you only seem to be rambling on about how they got rid of some of the path features. Seems pretty small and pointless to me.

Just get over it and play the freaking game. Whining doesn't do one thing.
