New Hyper at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure?

Anybody have any news on a new 200+ coaster at Six Flags Worlds Of Adventure?

I thought that all the zoning issues were approved, so what's going on?

Thanks

No track on site, no ground work yet. My guess is that it was just a rumor. I could be wrong, though.

Nothing... NOTHING... can prepare you for... the Fourth Dimension!

It's not coming this year. They got the zoning issues worked out, but Six Flags obviously isn't interested in investing that kind of money for the park this year when it had such a poor season this summer. My guess is they'll work on some of the issues the park had last year and the hypercoaster will come in 2004.

Or not coming this year. It could have very well been delayed, and I'm 80 percent sure it has. You just can't start building a hypr this late in Ohio. Sure, in California you can put Xcelerator together in 35 days, but it doesn't snow (or rain) here, and its always 70 degrees.
I remember a while back, during the summer that Jeff said he was on the phone with someone at the park who said the supports were arriving. What was the deal with that?

Well, supports for a hyper at SFM showed up over a year ago.......they still have nothing!

My guess is that they'll drop it in for 2004 when Coaster Con will be in northern Ohio.

Talk to the claw...

SFWoA really needs something to boost its park. It is really starting to fall apart and I think this extra coaster might help the park a great deal.

I have heard all of those rumors too. It is a fact that they were approved with the zoning issues, but I have no idea what went from there. They need to focus in on their PROBLEMS first before they build anything more. They need to inprove the operations of the park itself. Everytime I visit SFWOA, there is a ride that is shut down for the day. Come on now, what do you think of an amusement park that has a permament daily ride closing anouncement sign at the front gate? They need to organize and reorganize. There is no flow or blance to that park what so ever. They doesn't mean it can't be changed. I would have postponed the name change of Six Flags and the capital imrovements until the Sea World side was purchased. On the Geauga Lake side, everything is built on top of each other. The Sea World side is dead. Maybe they finally came to their senses and realized what really matters. The HAPPINESS of the park guests. Is that park in Aurora really Worlds of Adventure or Worlds of Chaos?

I'd much rather see the wild-life side develop and the improvements be made on the ride side. The wild-life side needs................................. more wild-life!! I thought that they were going to make a rainforest section, a lion area, zebra area, among other "zoo-like" areas. If those areas are ironed out to attract more people to the wild-life side, among a little shuffeling of rides/attractions, they'll be prepared when the coaster will be needed for a much improved park.

I'd like to see any investment at Worlds of Adventure put into the wild-life side, including obtaining the additional orca whale & more animals. They definately still got some work to do at the park before it becomes "world class"... even though I thourally enjoyed my visit back in September of '01.

My guess is that SFWOA's coaster was supposed to be a X.

Big problems with X in SFMM and lawsuits ect= No new X for SFWOA.

Remember, Arrow originally said that two were ordered.

Is it about coasters or friends? I say both!

SFWoA is a good park. They have a nice assortment of coasters (10), a decent selection of classic flat rides, and a lot for families to do. And I didn't even get to the water park. The park itself is just fine, and doesn't NEED a new coaster to fix the problem.

The problem is in the customer service department. 2000 and 2001's seasons left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. In 2002, they began to make things better. But, it will take some more time to heal those wounds- and a coaster or mega-ride won't do the trick. It'll take time. She's a good park.

I would think of it as a standard thing to have at an amusement park. Disneyland, DCA, KBF, SFMM all have signs exactly like that one. Don't you think it is fair for parks to display this information to their customers before they pay to enter the park?

*Thinking* that the difficulties on X were such that another one just wasn't in store for anyone else right away. Also, with no other Arrow hypers being built recently, and a Morgan hyper nearby to the east (KW) and an Arrow and two Intamins to the west (CP), who would that have left as an obvious choice for SFWoA's hyper....remember, they DID get their variance - wonder if that has a time limitation of 1 year, or longer, or of indefinite duration....

...then again, this is all PURE conjecture/speculation....

GAdv. and SFNE also have permanent ride closure signs out front.

You must be this dumb to ride Viper. -SFGAdv.

OK, the hyper has obviously been delayed but that is just fine with me. Why build a coaster that will be overshadowed by another not too far away?

I thought the park was great this past season. It's slowly on the up and up and I think it will be even better in the coming years.

Just have to be patient.

The best and most likely rumor right now has it that, yes they have put off the hyper for 2004. You and they know about the things they need to accomplish for 2003. It looks like the hyper will come in 2004 with the "Land." And rember the new land is suppose to have, walkthrough exhibits, waterride, dark ride, and a possible relocation of the bird show, and Tiger Island. They already have the Zebras which they added in 2002 half way through the season. And word in the park has it those fences are temporary. And trees are marked for the new land...not to mention that whale that nobody knew the park was going to get.

But again, even the land was rumored to start last year. It's suppose to take almost 2 years to build according to the park's orginal statement. On the bright side they did add A LOT more restroom signs this past year...and people to clean them ;)

The maps around the park this past year also showed a collection of at least 3 flat rides by the aquarium but they where never put in...at least not yet.

On another note, SFWoA added other rides that weren't on the map, 1/4 into the season (for one reason or another they didn't add them in the off season). Most of those are kiddie rides they added.

As most of you know and can easily tell. SFWoA is a artwork in A LOT of progess. You can tell, they listen to people, watch the crowd flows, etc. And try to fix it to the best of their resources. Could it be better, oh yeah. But as long as it keeps improving, I'll keep going back for more and more :)

Looking forward for 2004!

What whale? Last I heard there was a chance they could lose their current orca if a companion doesn't arrive soon.
As you probably know they got Shouka this past year. They got her on a breeding lease. As you also know a whale needs another opposite sex to breed and SFWoA doesn't have one yet. The male whale got stopped from exporting since he was caught in the Wild (Shouka was not). SFWoA is going after another I think 3 other whales in order to get one from what they have said. I don't know how long the lease is, but I do know they have X amount of time to aquire a male. I wouldn't look for Shouka to leave overnight anywhere anytime soon though.

If GAdv includes *all* their SBNO flats, they must pass out booklets each day...;). Secondly, I *must* be "this dumb", 'cause Viper is my #2 Togo....granted, that's out of 4 total.
