New CoasterBuzz

Loving the new layout!

I too am disappointed in the loss of the Top Threads on the home page, but I guess two extra clicks won't kill me... ;)

(Guess I'll have to get an avatar now...maybe even a signature?!?!)

EDIT: Oh, just noticed when you click on a Username, it shows their Member Info! I really like that feature!

Still a bug that I have in Firefox 3.0.1...

If you type in something in the search really fast (such as "Ravine Flyer") you get repetitive results of the same things:

Ravine Flyer 3
Ravine Flyer II
Ravine Flyer 3
Ravine Flyer II
Ravine Flyer 3
Ravine Flyer II
...etc...

The faster you type it, the more repetitive, the slower, the less, but still is repetitive. I can post a screenshot if needed.

EDIT: I now realized that this only happens if any of the characters are capitalized... "Ravine Flyer II" gives the repeats, "ravine flyer II" gives corrrect.

Its pretty sweet. Nice look and feel. Keep up the good work.

Very nice. After the new PointBuzz I was really looking forward to this. Well done!

I have to agree, I miss the active topics on the front page. I do, however, like that I can actually have formatting options in Firefox now. Oh, and the avatar thing is really awesome!

Certain victory.

Fun!

I can bring back the recent topics if it's really causing that much pain.

I've seen the problem with dupes in the search results, but not on the live site. Thought I had that one beat.

Did anyone notice that news items now have their comments as part of the forum? I've been dying to do that for years.

As I mentioned last night, the immediate goal is to clean up the database, which will take some time.

I think your color scheme is clever and appealing. The lines are very clean, soft neutral tones, easy on the eyes but with the professional look.

The links at the top are Brilliant. Their large, sit on their own bar, which make them independent but very purposeful. And the arrows beside them are a nice touch.

You have this grey/black dominant color on the side of the page and then are very well blended central focus as your eyes come in. This is what I personally like. "Its really easy on the eyes, but looks so professional". I cant stress this enough. I give two thumbs up.

The idea of having the top discussed forums on the web page as soon as you arrive seems to be suited better as, tucked away as far as I'm concerned. I was impressed to see only the big things that are going on in the industry or top news stories when you first arrive on site. General discussion should be secondary and put aside so cleverly as they have been. This feedback is based on a five minute first impression, but I really like it.

Ask not what you can do for a coaster, but what a coaster can do for you.

As has been mentioned before, I really miss the active forum topics on the main page. The news articles generally don't change that much; forums do.Whiel I like the colors on the site, etc., I am seeing some font sizing issues, etc. and alignment problems with Firefox 3 under Linux Ubuntu. Not sure if it is the site, Firefox, or Ubuntu, but a lot of the main page is quite diofficult to read due to page layouts and formatting.

That's interesting, because I have the exact opposite perspective about the active forum listing on the front page. Because the forums change so frequently I saw no value in checking that area. I knew each time I came to the site I was missing some discussion, so I just went straight to the forum to get caught up on it. I don't miss that on the front page.

I have noticed, though, that in the forum you can no longer go straight to a certain page number within a topic. It seems you have to enter the thread and then navigate to the end to see the most recent posts. If I am missing something, just let me know.

I think this looks fabulous, Jeff. Congratulations on a job well done.

You can click on the blue icon to go to the post that you read last. It shows that in the very informative video.

Awesome. Thanks. I am having a problem with the tutorials, so I haven't viewed them yet.

Oh, and Jeff, I also really like that the news comments are a part of the forum. That makes a lot of sense.

I haven't visited the site in awhile but when I got my iPhone here I decided to drop in.
I love the new color scheme it's different from the blues and the pastels the rest of the web seems to be using.
Functionality wise it's hard to judge in mobile safari but everything is loading very snappy over a wifi connection.
Good job! How many years has this been in the works? ;)

Edit: my cable connection flaked out when I sent and I switched to 3g and the site still is snappy! Nice to see the page size get slimmed down!

I give the new look thumbs up as well. Echoing others, the only thing I'd like to see is the active threads page or a Recent button as on Pointbuzz. The new style is definitely sleeker and easier on the eyes.

I think the color scheme should seem at least somewhat familiar to Kings Island fans. ;)

And yes, watch the forum video tour. Again, stats show that no one clicks on 20 links to specific thread pages (other than first or last) because most people don't remember where they left off. That's why the new post indicator will take you right to the newest post. We've been using this for awhile on PointBuzz and it makes so much more sense.

I'm getting no sound on the video tours and I can't figure out why.

Love the new site! It loads much faster!

[url][url]Same with PointBuzz, it took getting used to to not have the latest topics on the front page, but after getting used to it, I prefer it like it is now. It made the front page seem cluttered and noisy, and caused some people (including me!) to fall into the bad habit of never looking at the full board.
