Much Needed LOVE Thread: Villain & SFWOA.

I love the Villain...My friend Crystal and I ride it over and over...many times without getting off
many times we sing on the ride (just to let you know you can sing all of BINGO...actually got the train to sing with us once)

I too love SFWOA...

It's not the greatest but it's better than anything on RCDB:

Moosh and Gonch, sitting in a tree... Ops! ;)

Seriuosly, I understand where you both are coming from. but we all know that a lot of things affect wooden coasters. Yes, the Phoenix seems to fly from the get go every day and that's why I love that ride too. But it necessarily doesn't run that well every day. Same with a lot of woodies.

I'm just saying that I've noticed with most CCI's there is a definite difference between morning and night rides. Are we all going to argue that Holiday Worlds woodies don't run any better at night? I wouldn't think so. Does that make them bad rides because they aren't as consistant as the Phoenix? I would hope not.

I've ridden Villain in all types of adverse weather conditions and the ride seems pretty consistant especially at night. Yes...I've had a few sluggish rides on it, but I've had bad rides on a lot of great coasters even the Phoenix. If you don't care for Villain, all I can say is the next time we should ride it together so as I can better understand your complaints, that's all.

Don't worry, Gonch...you're not my type. I prefer masculine men ;)

Thrillerman: I understand that many woodies -- CCIs particularly -- need some time to get warmed up. I never base my assessment of a ride after one ride. My opinion of Villain is after quite a number or rides over the course of a few years. But my ranking nor my opinion is static. When I get back to SFWoA I'll ride Villain a few more times with an open mind and will adjust its ranking accordingly...up, or down.

I think that is a great idea MOOSH, I rode Villain in the front seat like 10 times and was blown away by it, it may not be the most forcegful, but it was really fun. A week later I rode Shivering Timbers, and found out that it's airtime doesn't even compare to Villain's except for the humber of floating hills, the truth is, Villain's second hill is pure genous, it is tall enough that you get a nice long helping of air, but short enough that it gives you some shockingly awesome air coming up. That second hill i personally think makes up for all the faults I found with it (But I really did find any).

P.S. How can you not love the turning bunny hops that CCI has made great in both Villain and The New Mexico Rattler.

In the morning, afternoon, or night I have never had a bad ride on the Villian. The seats didnt seem to bother me as much as other people (probably due to my own added "padding") and has its moments of airtime. Granted, everytime I have ridden it has been on a warm dry summer day/night. I feel it is by far the best woodie at that park, but not in Ohio (long live the Beast!).

But as for those of you who claim to get bad rides on certain rides everyone else loves I might add that the one time I visited Knoebles I was neither impressed much with the park (except the merry go round, haunted house, bumper cars and flyers) or their coasters they seem very lackluster to me (and as far as the Phenoix in my experience Viper's double dip gives much more air by far). Someday I'm sure I will go back but as for now I am extremely disapointed with that park after going there with such high hopes. *** Edited 1/27/2004 4:20:51 AM UTC by Touchdown***

Seriuosly moosh, let me know when you'll be in town so we hook up at the park. I would enjoy taking a few spins on the coasters there with you. Same with Gonch or anyone whose willing to meet at the park. I'll even treat you to dinner if I'm wrong about the coaster. Oh no...did I just say that?!

Free dinner? I may have to "fake" some hatred for Villain! ;)

Thrillerman - it's a date! ;) Unfortunately you'll have to wait until 2005 at the earliest...I have no plans to be in the Cleveland area this year. But I promise you it'll be worth the wait...LOL!

mOOSH [really glad he likes wood....]

PS - did I just officially kill this thread?

No Moosh I think it died when when words Love Thread and Villain came together ;)

Nothing to add, just felt like quoting the previous post =) Oh the irony ... or something like that ... anyone else getting attacked by giant killer monster snow goons from space right now?

It's more like Ice Goons today Brett. That's why I'm stuck at home. Don't worry though..it will change back over to snow this afternoon.

Moosh...I might get out to solace in march if certain things happen soon. Then you can explain to me why GhostRider is so much better!! ;) Oh...and when your in Cleveland in '05, we should have our long rumored hyper and Wolf Kabobs should be completely retracked by then. Smooooooth!! :):)

Mr Ascough...you can't fake hatred to me because I know you love it!! ;)

I'm eager to get out to CA this summer and see what the deal is with this whole Ghostrider vs. Villain thing.

And Thrillerman, you're right... I can't fake hatred! But I am pretty good at projecting real hatred. And the only roller coaster hatred I have is for GASM at SFGAdv, now that Hercules is gone.

I must say I am a roller Coaster Junkie, and I do like ro ride wooden coasters, and I've been on CP's Coasters and they are really good, and as for rating SFWoA's Villian Steel Frame/Wooden Coaster...Its not that bad as others portray it. I mean It's probally not the best out there but for Six Flags It was a promotional thing to get people to they're park...because of the profit problem. I don't think the trains are that bad although i think its only because of safety reasons is why they switched! And I love you peeps to those who think Villian is decent or better!
Beltz, what do you mean because of safety reasons? What was switched at SFWoA? SFWoA safely ran PTCs on RWB and could have spent a few more bucks and put them on Villain, I don't see what the safety issue is.
Frankly, I don't understand why everyone loves Villian either. I mean, its ALRIGHT for a wooden coaster, but then again, I wouldn't even consider it a wooden coaster, its more of a cyborg w/ the metal supports, not even to mention how ugly it is. I have been to that park and I think Batman: Knight Flight and X-Flight are much better a ride. And for woodies, Theres the Beast and son of beast just hours away, and I even believe Mean Streak is better, even considering how rough its got in the past few years. Then there are woodies like raven, legend, ghost ryder, twister, gwazi, lightning racer, and so much more that are worlds better than this let down of a coaster.
You do realize that using metal supports for a wooden coaster is nothing new right?

Villian is the best ride in the park. It's gotten a little rought over the past couple of years but it found it amazing the first season and still think it is an outstanding ride (and yes I've ridden Raven and Legend).

What I don't understand is all the hatred for the G-trains. I think I may prefer the look of PTCs (but the open front is kinda cool) but I don't find them particulary uncomfortable. Is it just in style right now to be offended by them?

Surely they are better then the PTCs that once ran on Raging Wolf Bobs (speaking of RWB, are they going to retrack the other half of the ride?).

Didnt want to start a new topic about SFWoA but the officail site has posted events for 2004 which include fright fest, two weekends of Oktorberfest, all-new cheerfest(what im looking forward too), these along with gospelday and christian youth day.

Also annouced was a tentative list of shows for 2004 with an all new sea lion and otter show "Invading Spaces."

I say don't waste your time on that terrible park. All its good for are stats. Spend your real time at Cedar Point and Paramounts Kings Island.
