Millennium Force STATUS

Word over at Pointbuzz is that it is down again and sometime after 1pm today the closed banner showed up on Cedarpoint.com

Edit: confirmed, the banner is up. Here is to hoping it is up by Six am Friday. *** Edited 5/30/2006 6:58:39 PM UTC by coastern3rd***

Fat Chick in a tutu being fed by a midget.

That's awesome! I'm so happy for you!

I was there on Saturday as well! We were on our way to ride it when it had broken down. We managed to get one ride on it between the up and down times. We were going to go again, but by then the line was too long.

I think TTD was running non-stop on Saturday! Every time I looked up to check on it, I saw the train going over. WOO HOO! TOP THRILL DRAGSTER!! that ride rocks when you sit in the back! As well as MF!

I'd rather be riding Roller Coasters....or baking.

It wouldn't be CoasterMania without something out of commission! ;)

It is always a bummer when you go to a park and a coaster is closed. No matter what park or how close the park is, it is still disappointing. I have been to Six flags great America 3 times and Deja Vu is always closed.
But it happens and it's not the parks fault but it is still a bummer.

There is no such thing as a terrible Coaster just ones that haven't been taken care of

so uh..it says it's closed today, I'm not complaining, but just wondering if anyone knows if it will be ready by Coastermania.

Thanks,

Sitting in the back of MF is like getting a sneak peak of heaven.

After sifting through some pointbuzz stuff, I've determined this is the problems it's been experiencing

1. The motor broke, parts/new motor was shipped from Intamin. Ride reopens.
2. After a day the catch car becomes detached from the train near the top.
3. Catchcar problem is fixed, but there is a crack in the weld of one of the kicker wheels in the station.

Can tell you if all that is 100% accurate but i think thats whats happening.

IF Ride of Steel is correct, I would think that CP is taking a really close look at the cracked weld due to the recent event at VF. Granted, a kicker wheel is a lot different than a brake bracket, but, could be indicative of a different problem.

Knowing CF's history, I am certain they are working diligently to get the ride re-opened.

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.
If that crack was similar to any other at CP, they'd weld it back together and reopen the ride within hours, not days. The article in the Register this morning had a quote from Bryan Edwards saying it was something electrical. Then again, he also said Dragster is running reliably, so believe what you want! :)

Amen, sister! I am glad I am not the only one who realizes this.

Who cares if MForce is down? There ARE other coasters in the park. ;-)

Bingo, something major along those lines that resulted from the installation of the new motor.

And how many times do you go to Cedar Point a season?

Many people go once. Millennium being down, or any major coaster for that matter is a huge dissappointment for them, myself included.

I've been to PGA only once in the last dozen years. I don't expect to go back for another dozen. I was hoping to ride Survivor, but it was down all day.

Surprisingly, I still managed to have fun.
