Millennium Force , What is it like ?

To see MF in person is amazing.  The ride it gives is blazingly fast and extremely smooth.  For "speed junkies," MF can't be beat.  However, S:ROS at SFNE matches it for smoothness, comes reasonably close for speed, but delivers a more intense ride with a lot more insanely powerful airtime.

MF has extremely good floating air, but S:ROS literaly tries to rip you right out of your seat.  :)

It's big.  It's very........big.

Every time I ride Millennium Force it is just total jubilation.  MF is by far my favorite roller coaster experience.  Just ride in the front seat, it makes all the difference.  Nothing can compare, not even my beloved Timbers or the unique X-Flight.

Cedar Point does it again!

Whats the longets anyone had ever waited to ride Millennium Force?  I heard that on oepning day the line wait was about 7 hours!

That was rumor spread by either people that went that day or people that wanted some attention. Asking different people, the longest wait was around 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 hours...max.

take your favorite rollercoasters, with the best drop, the best elements, the best speed, smoothness, transitions, and scenery.  then multiply is like lets say mneeahh, 42.  You are now almost halfway there.

I have ridden both, and I like Deja Vu very much, but it isnt even in the same class as MF.

Millennium Force has been my #1 roller coaster since May 16, 2000. I waited three hours that day to ride (the first Tuesday the park was open to the public) and despite rain and the loss of the yellow train as it was making a loud grinding noise going up the lift, I felt it was worth every minute of the wait. I have only been on the ride seven times but every time I ride, I come off feeling 100 times happier than I was before I rode it. The feeling truly is indescribable.

Coming down that first drop always scares me because it feels like the train isn't going to be there to catch you at the bottom. You are off your seat the entire way down and it is just SO steep. As Jeff mentioned, there is a major "grey-out" effect heading into the first overbanked turn. The few hills the ride does have are amazing (nice floater airtime), the turnaround is just insane, and the bunny hop next to the loading platform catches everyone off guard with a sudden jolt of air. It's always fun when the train hits the final turnaround to look down on waiting riders as they all stare in awe of the incredible power of MF. This is the only coaster I have seen (even in its second season) where when the crew asks "how was your ride?", EVERYONE on board is cheering and clapping. I have yet to hear a negative comment from anyone as they head down the exit ramp. X-Flight at that competing Ohio park couldn't even get a handful of people over the course of several trains to applaud during the season, no matter how hard the crew tried. Millennium Force is truly something special and I feel VERY fortunate to live only 75 miles away from this 310-foot giant.

I just read the "what's MF like" post.... Wow! CP is my home park, but now I live in LA and my summers are my busiest times, so I've been cursed with no CP for the past 3 years! I'm not sure I'll survive much longer!

I've said it before and I'll say it again now... Props to Richard Kinzel, for having the vision and brilliance to evolving CP to what it is and for making the rides we love: Magnum, Raptor, Mantis, MF (I love it even w/o having riden it! It's such a beautiful ride!).

And all the while, Mr. Kinzel has remained very friendly, honest, and warm. I remember working there in '91, '92 directing traffic in the sun, and he personally made sure we had water and were doing ok in the heat. Great man.

If you're reading this, Mr. Kinzel, many thanks!

A++++++++++!!!!
What a fine piece of machinery this ride is. No other steel coaster comes close. I rode Goliath for the first time a couple weeks ago. Didn't come close. No coaster does really.

yes, janfrederick, Goliath is very, very fun, but not amazing. And it sounds as if MF is Amazing.

I wish CP was still called the Amazement Park. I loved that line!

X, please!

sheer joy

It's like putting a giant hill on an oversized Vekoma rollerskater coaster with overbanked turns, and asking Ray Charles where to place the tunnels.
Allow me to disagree and say that MF was a waste of money for CP.  The first drop was incredible, but the same as getting dropped from the top of Drop Zone.  After that there are almost no forces on you.  The feeling can be duplicated by hoping in your car, rolling the windows down, and driving on an interstate to the next exit.

Or if you really NEED that extra 10 mph, go to Montana and drive on the highway there.

The car comparison only works if you strap yourself to a lawn chair on the back of a flat bed that goes over hills fast enough to float you out of your seat. ;)

...and since when does your seat tip straight down on Drop Zone...? Is there any highway that has a decline of 80 degree, then an increase of elevation with a 122 degree banked turn?...didn't think so. Sorry, but your comparisons just don't hold up.
i rode millennium force the first year it opened and i was dissapointed. the best parts of the the ride featured a very fast lift and a spectacular first drop. the rest of the ride was a blur and did not include any airtime (from the back). ride superman at six flags new england if you want to ride the ultimate coaster.
Allow me to disagree and say that MF was a waste of money for CP.  Sure it's a good ride, maybe it's in my top ten, but it is not THAT great.  The first drop was great, but after that there were very few forces on your body.  The thrill of the fall is the same as Drop Zone, which is pretty good but hardly worth more than an hour wait.

Many people on this page enjoyed the incredible speed of the ride.  This feeling can be duplicated exactly by rolling down the windows in your car on the highway and driving to the next exit (without the 35$ entrance fee).

Speed is a feeling which is easily duplicated in today's world due to the invention of the automobile.  I pay to enter parks so that I can experience something that I never have before.  Therefore I am not impressed by rides, like MF, that go fast but have no kick to them.  Oh sure, the fall was great, but there are drop towers just like it all over the country.  If you like falling, go to one of those; if you like speed, drive a car.
