Mean Streak a Top 10 Wooden Coaster?

Mean Streak was in my top 5.....from 1991-1993. It kicked butt back then. After that it's slowly sunk and is probably in the 60s or 70s on my wood list.

Aside from the "all too easy" sarcasm and jokes, just how do they explain MS being a top 10 woodie (which, obviously we know to be ridiculous).

I agree with them that MF is the number 1 steel coaster...so can they be so right.....yet so....off?

MF is the #1 steel coaster according to Amusement Today. But that picture says Mean Streak is in the top ten according to Theme Parks Magazine.

Must be a big difference.:)

But, "we" don't "obviously" know it to be ridiculous. I think Mean Streak is doing really well this year. Hell, even when it was rough, it was still a decent ride, albeit a little boring.

The other day it was so packed at the point that MS was the only ride Jen and I got on. The trim was barely on, and the entire track had a nice fat line of lubricant running it. It was even better than it has been in the past weekends this year, I got a stream of tears in my eyes from the speed.

I'm not saying that it's anywhere near the quality of the woodies at Holiday World, but there's definitely a hell of a lot worse out there. (Shivering Timbers, for example.)

OMG, There are only 10 wooden coasters left on the planet???

Hello, Hello! (hola!) I rode a ride named Vertigo!-with apologies to U2

If I had a fledgling magazine, I'd make an arbitrary list of highly visible coasters in hopes that the parks saw it as an opportunity to put up a huge banner promoting their ride with the name of my publication on it and thus getting me more exposure.

Oh wait...

In my ten visits to CP, Not once have I seen grease on the track.

I was begging to think it was environmental thing or something but Blue Streak always has it.

Theme Parks Magazine also voted Millennium Force #1: http://www.themeparksmagazine.com/mediakit/readerschoiceawards-2005.pdf

Oh, and Dragster's #2. Sounds like my kind of publication.

Welcome back, red train, how was your ride?!
I don't know what you all are talking about but Mean Streak has to be one of the best woodies that I have ridden. If you want to hear some woodies that are rougher than that, lets see:

1. Predator - Six Flags Darien Lake
2. Grizzly - Kings Dominion
3. Hurler - Kings Dominion

Mean Streak ranks in my top 10 total coasters list, but I also love wooden coasters that kick a little bit. I mean, I even loved Blue Streak and that had a little bite to it.

It's been there most of the times I went this year, and that's been every weekend.

The exceptions are after heavy rains.

Dustin - you need to ride more woodies. ;)

Someone needs to define terms here... ;)

Hey, If Cedar Fair can say that Hydra is one of the tallest and fastest floorless coasters, then I suppose they can brag up Mean Streak like this :)

coastin' since 1985

I was about to jump all over you for first mis-spelling my name and then for even daring to say that I should ride more woodies as I have been on most of them in the USA -- then I realized we have a new poster who is named Dustin. My bad. ;)

Well at least they had the nerve to name their source. This doesn't surprise me. It seems like a clever attempt to fill the queue.
Did you consider that it could be Top Ten by attendance. If CP is the #1 or #2 attended seasonal park it stands to make sense that MS would indeed be a Top Ten wooden coaster. It has more riders that most other coasters, bad or not.

I guess the other coasters on list have similiar banners or something to that affect according to Jeff Mast, editor of TP Magazine.

And there you have it. :)

Anybody know what the other 9 are? (Yes, I'm too damn lazy to research it for myself)
Given that as a number ten, I'd say SOB, The Beast, Villian, RAging Wolf Bobs just to name a few.
