Magnum: Red or Orange?

Sounds like a hair color. Magnum Red hair with Pantone Red lipstick and Pantone Rubine Red nail polish. Happy Valentine's Day!

The only problem with photos is that, even discounting flat out digital manipulation, someone skilled and knowledgeable with a camera and photgraphy can make that track any shade they please on film or digital.

I just tested some of the pics I've taken. I got samples anywhere from Pantone Warm Red to Pantone 171C which is certainly on the orange side of things - and I wasn't trying to do any more than capture interesting shots of the ride.

I just thought it was funny that this is one of those topics that comes up every now and again, gets pretty heated and goes away. Then CP puts up these Valentines and flat out calls Magnum red. It was too perfect.

Then again, the ride has to be close to red or that valentine would make no sense, right? ;)

Maybe it should have read, "Mantis' rails are red"...

Not to mention that the Cedar Point website's page for the ride says "red tubular steel track."

It is (was) red. Get over it.

Did you calibrate your monitor FIRST?
Are you sure you aren't slightly colorblind to reds? ;)
Pantone Schmantone.
Julius calls it Orange and he has better taste than allaya combined.

I only see in shades of green.

It is only through years of hard work and observation that I can now correspond my shades of green to the color spectrum the rest of you see.

Magnum is clearly a dull pine green color - err, red to you 'normals' :)

No, no, no, it's hunter green! Geez, can't you get anything right? :)

Millennium Force is a very nice shade of vegas gold ...

Oooh, me, me! (Waves hands in the air)

Red/green? No problem, different as anything. But when it comes to things with SHADES of reds, I'm doomed. Blue and purple, for example, can be hard for me to distinguish because I don't see the red component of the purple very well unless it's strong. Ditto more obvious things like some shades of red and brown. (This got me in trouble when an ex-girlfriend of mine with blonde hair dyed her hair to another shade of blonde, and I didn't notice...)

As for Magnum, the track looks orange but faded to me, so I'll buy red...

CP's website also says that MF has 1600/hr capacity. ;)

No, No, No! It's definitely rorange. ;)
They only say red in the poem as they can't rhyme anything with orange, didn't you know??/

What exactly in that poem rhymes with red? ;)

"I can't imagine any coaster can get much taller than this"

that cracks me up

Based on some of those pictures I think it's actually more of a rust color.
As I remember pointing out last time around:

CP says its red,

CP paid for Magnum,

therefore CP choose the color,

if there website says its red its red.

Of course all of this argueing obscures the one true fact about Magnum's paint: it needs to be replaced, Raptor and Mantis are younger but have gotten new jobs why hasnt the big boy on the beach gotten one yet?

I am a customer,

I bring the money that pays for Magnum,

I have two perfectly good eyeballs,

Therefore I get to say what I see.

Touche!
