Magnum: Red or Orange?

If you've hung around here or Pointbuzz for any amount of time, you've probably seen several debates over the color of Magnum.

Has CP finally ended it once and for all with their online valentines?

According to this one, Magnum is red.

I've always thought it was red and never knew it needed to be debated. Hmmm.

Magnum's color really isn't much of a debate.

It just rolls off the tongue easier than Is Xcelerator Periwinkle or Powder Blue?

Then again, it sounds a lot less Queer Eye too.

When it was installed it was red, but over time, the paint has faded to an pinkish orange color.

It's somewhere between a tomato (#FF6347) and orangeRed(#FF4500).

In all the black and white pictures I've seen, it's clearly gray. But in the silhouette shots, it looks black. Now I'm really confused.

Magnum is orange, as shown below. Compare the track color with the red trailer at the bottom-left of this photo.

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.

Seriously guys, I realize most of you don't understand color outside of Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Black, White, and Grey, but when you combine two of these colors, you get a new color that isn't quite one ore the other.

Didn't you have crayons as a kid? Some of them even made it easy on you letting you know what colors they combined, Red-Orange, Yellow-Green. Others are a bit more mysterious such as periwinkle. (cue magical music)

I suggest those that can only see Magnum as Red or Orange take a trip down to Home Depot and look at the paint swatches. Pick up what you would call Red, then pick up one that you would call Orange, then find something in between. That color will have a name. It's neither Red nor Orange, but some hybrid.

Actually, you better stay home and argue about it on here. I don't want to see reports of fights breaking out in the paint department of Home Depots across the country.

I saved that construction pic and opened it in Photoshop and sampled the color. It is somewhere between Pantone Red032 and Pantone Rubine Red.

Its RED, folks. NOT ORANGE.
