Loudest Brakes you've heard on a Coaster...

I would have to say King Cobra at PKI. Those are extreemly loud. The brakes on MF can be loud too, but they don't seem nearly as loud.

I don't know what it is, but I just love the sound of MF's brakes. It's kind of a motor-ish sound...

The brakes on Millennium Force are loud because of the covers that CP has installed over the top of them - presumably to protect the brakes themselves from the elements. It you look at either the Superman at SFDL or SFNE, they are basically the same brakes, but are pretty much totally silent. I am assuming that the trains are causing the covers to rattle and that's where the noise is coming from.

I haven't heard very loud ones. When I went to PKI and on KingCobra we didn't have to wait underneath the brakes because the wait was 5 minutes cuz it was just recovering from breaking down again. The brakes on Manhattan express extend into a heavily slanted brake run indoors to get to the staiton in the arcade, and it is TOGO, and you're in an enclosed area so the sound bounces off everthing. The fact that you ears are very tender and sore from all the very nice headbanging you get on that ride...:)

I'll have to go with Viper at SFoG. Those were awful. I can't imagine standing around those things for hours at a time, even if I was getting paid. I can't think of any other rides with brakes loud enough for me to post about. Viper is really the only coaster I've been on with brakes that were actually painful to hear. Just awful.

Those aren't Superman's breaks. It makes that sound because it's going so fast. It slowly lowers it's speed the whole time back.

If you read closely he said that it was louder than ANY brakes, implying it wasn't brakes that he was hearing...

I know this is kinda a weird thing to say, but the Roadrunner Express at SFWoA is really loud...as the Train pulls into the Station, it sounds like a jack hammer (but lower) and the entire floor trembles a small amount...

Hmm... even though it isnt a roller coaster, I think SFMM's Freefall's breaks are pretty bad. It is a first generation model, so....

As for roller coasters, Canyon Blaster at the Adventuredome is bad when we used to stop it on the break run at night. It would make a screaching sound sometimes.

Ninja's doesnt sound right. I mean I've never heard a ride sound like that before.

Steel Force's are really loud. Oh and GASM at SFGAdv sound just like Ninja....I have heard it so many time that I ride wouldn't be the same without that loud weird sound.
