I was just wondering what are some of the loudest brakes you guys have heard. I think it would have to be SD2K because even when its not going that fast thru them they are still loud. How some companies brakes are louder than others not regarding the speed at which they are entered???

The loudest brakes have to be KI's TOGO King Cobra. Standing underneath the brakes in the ride line when those things go off isn't all that fun.

I thought Millenium Force's reduction brakes were really loud in the queue line.
I would have to say the Great American Scream Machine at Sixflasg Great Adventure has some loud brakes when it is hitting the set of brakes right after the first 3 loops becuase the train is going somewhere around 45mph or so and it basicaly slams the brakes and slows the train to hit 5mph in that short period of time, im sure there is worse coaster i have been on but i cant think of them right now.
I just remembered that any Boomerang's brakes aren't that pleasant. Especially when ur waitin' for the first row where they are the loudest.

What are reduction brakes and how can they be loud if they are magnetic?

I'd agree with KIBeast. What with the loud brakes, the close quarters, the loooong room full of turnstiles, and a wooden cage on all sides, the King Cobra line is about the most unpleasant line I can think of to wait in.

You can't spell "dishonorable" without "honorable."
The loudest brakes I've ever heard were on PGA's Greased Lightning as the train roars backwards through the station. They're also the brakes that cause the most pain as the train comes to a stop.

The loudest brakes I'd ever heard was on the Grizzly coaster at Paramount's Kings Dominion. The train whistled and screamed throughout the ride so bad I was partly concerned about the health of the beast and partly irritated because it was soooo annoying.
King Cobra hands down. I always say that I'm not gonna jump on the first train that stops on the brakes but it always surprises me! They are so **** loud!

It's his turn to feast, when you ride the Son of Beast.
Wow. We are really running out of topics.
The loudest I have heard is Santa Monica Westcoaster. The line comes right up to them breaks, there is a panel that makes it so you can't touch them but they are very loud and quick because of how little space the ride has they have to stop it in a short space.

How about the Ninja at SFMM? If that dog-like sound wasn't the brakes then I don't know what they were. They get really annoying as they continue on and on without stopping until the train leaves the area.

It would have to be Shockwave, TOGO Stand-Up.

Anyone hear Hypersonic XLC's brakes, by any chance? There's so many of them and they are
LOUD! -----------------
Bomb Squad Technician If you see me running, try and keep up!
I'd agree with Coastration, those Ninja brakes are pretty bad, and annoying. It sounds like a dying dog to me. Also I think Boomerang @ KBF has a good loud brake slam too, even though I've heard many worse ones.....

Hehe Ninja's brakes sound like you're running over a dolphin or a cat.

I agree with Coastration, the brakes on Ninja at SFMM are annoying. It sounds like someone's running over a dog or something.
