Locations that could use an amusement park

Memphis could use a "major" theme park. The closest parks to Memphis now are SFStl - 5 hour drive....
SFKK, HW & Visionland - 6 hour drive
SDC - 7 hour drive
SFoT, SFoG, PKI & Jazzland - 8 hour drive
I think a major themer would fit nicely here.

peace :)

Kansas needs a theme park, like the proposed OZ park that's in limbo (because the residents are fundamentalist christian FREAKS who think the Wizard of Oz is "satanic").

Regarding Hawaii... let's not. Oahu is pretty cheesy in places as it is, but that's one place that should not be any more cluttered up than it already is. It's the most beautiful place in the US, and I'd hate to see it not maintained.

In fact, there is a theme park in development for Hawaii. It's true - I've seen all the plans and artist rendering. I don't have the link anymore, will anyone enlight everyone?

The Jet Coaster ROARS!

If someone could get that it'd be a big help.

I know a place where a small amusement park could profit. It's a place called the Quad Cities in the midwest. It's comprised of Davenport and Bettendor Iowa and Moline and Rock Island Illinois. It has almost a half million people in the imediate area and the nearest parks are over 3 1/2 hours away. I think a nice little park boardwalk style along the Mississippi River would be great. I know a perfect spot for it and one of the three casinos in the area could build it or somebody else. I just wish I had an amusement park nearby. What does everybody else think?

No Lapbar, No Seatbelt, No Problem!
Hawaii Has NO room what so ever down there. I know cause I lived down there for 3 years and it sucked. I missed the parks while I was there, but now I'm moved and I still have to drive 6 hours to get to any park, but the the keyword there is DRIVE and not Fly then drive. It would be a big tourist attraction down there, but there is no room. Land alone would cost more than a small CCI coaster, so the land would cost more than most of the park if you were to make it big!!

"Northern Indiana! I'll donate the land. Complete with a few hundred acres of fields and woods.

Just wishful thinking I guess. :)"

IF you have the land and wouldn't mind having a coaster in you backyard I know of a couple of companys that would do that and they have done it before :), but seriously the older owners of knotts berry farms was going to build a amusement park near indy that a guy had land he was going to go in joint commision with them, They supply the rides and he would supply the land. The deal fell through when they found out he only had 20 acres.

I think central Indiana could use and support a large amusement park. The nearest big parks are cedar point , holiday world ( way down south of indiana ) , pki , sfsl , and they are all 4 - 5
hours away from here. THe closest park is indiana beach, which is very small and has close to no room to expand and is often restricted by the local officals.
I agree, the #1 spot is central Indiana.

Don't touch the watch.
Northern Kentucky, perferabily out in Alexandria. This is secluded, but would be a great place for a terrain coaster, with all the hills and that.

all about PKI
the Beasts` Den
I would say

Pacific Northwest (mainly Seattle/Portland as Jeff pointed out)

Detroit (even though you have CP within a couple of hours - might help spark a rebirth of sorts)

Indianapolis (too bad Garfield's Adventure America didn't pan out)

Anywhere in Mississippi

Salt Lake City (yes, they have Lagoon, but they need a big player in that part of the region)

I live in Ohio, and I couldn't be more satisfied, no matter where you live there is an amusement park pretty much 2-2 1/2 hours away. I believe I have on of the best locations in the country, 2 minutes from CP, 1 hour and 45 minutes from SFWOA, 3 hours from Kennywood, 5 hours from PKI, and 50 minutes from the I-X indoor amusement park for those winter coaster withdrawels!

I agree Jeff, coasterbuzz pulls a lot of members from that region and they deserve an amusement park.

Yeah, Florida.. They really have a lack of amusement parks there. Cripes.

YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!!!
OHIO doesnt need any more parks!!

What about New Mexico? Albuquerque and Santa Fe are great tourist towns, a park between the two would do well, considering the great weather New Mexico has. There's enough population to draw in that region, considering the proximity to Texas and Arizona. A large park that's like no more than 4 hours from several large cities will succeed.

"Help! Help! I'm being repressed!"
im going to start my own sixflags/paramount/cf/alfa park chain and have locations in Miami, Seattle, Pheonix, and Memphis. Tennessee, Arizona, And Washington pretty much have nothing, and those are highly populated areas!

Roller coaster of Love ~ ooi ~ ooi ~ ooi

I would have to say perto rico aswell when i was there i was looking at the mountains and wishing there could be a coaster going right trou them. but my uncel was telling me they have a decent sized traveling fair that comes around. but i think the reason they havent built a park there is becuase it would proply cost so much money with ladn levaling etc.also in NYC i mean yea we have astro land but its just good for the cyclone. and not risked getting muged on the train for. anyone who reads this might say where can they but up a park? try Staten island or long island. two island wich both have alot of space. and me living on staten island i would love to be 15mins from a park. (but then everyone will not want it here becuase of sound polution etc so maybe long island where there might be more open space far from anyones homes?)
