Let's talk about the Crystal Beach Cyclone

Thanks for the update, my friend!  C'mon people...  Doesn't anyone else want to spout off on the fabled CBC?  We talk all day about Drachen Fire, and not more about our dreams?  I have a question...  What park would be best suited for a re-build, and why?  I don't want to hear it's because it is your home park, but moreover why it might belong at a specific locale.

Nasai, I going to completely disagree with you about Roar. Roar E/W, Lightning Racer, and Wildcat etc. are obviously the modern equivalents of the Crystal Beach Cyclone, but with current engineering and safety standards. For a good analogy, just look at the new Thunderbird coming out from Ford. Sure, it'll look similar to the original design, but it'll have airbags, three-point seatbelts, and a non-metal impalling interior.

Hey Intamin fan!  No problem....   I wasn't dissing Roar by any means, but I guess what I was trying to say in the very first post is that I was hoping people wouldn't want to compare it with Roar because although it has a very similar theme, it doesn't have the legendary-I-wasn't-alive-when-it-was-around status.  Yes, both Roars are great and very fun coasters, and I have a killer picture of Roar on my desktop, but I just didn't really want to even get it in the mix.  I just want to talk about the legendary, and obviously mythical status that the CBC still lives on in.  No offense.  Besides, we needed a couple of new threads that weren't about Wicked Twister or X, you know?  Just my annoying little contribution!

By the way, that comparison between the Ford of today and yesterday is killer.  Right on the money.

Won't you check it out?

What about the Lightning?  I heard that coaster was even more maniacal than CBC.
Amen Nasai about having other topics besides what's being going around lately.
From what I have read about Harry Travers' Lightning coaster,it had a similar track layout but with much smaller radius curves than the CBC.This was a short lived coaster lasting only a few years .The Zip coaster that was at Oaks Park in Portland,Oregon from 1926 to 1934 is one of the predecesors of the CBC.The Zip was one of Harry Travers' earliest coaster designs.

Ronald, I imagine the Lightning was probably an even more intense ride than the CBC?  With a tighter radius through the curves, it sure sounds like it.  I can't imagine.  Just riding Timber Terror with its flat helix or the last helix on Ghostrider, I would think that the CBC or Lightning would truly break ribs, if there was any bracing at all.  Ouch....
