LeSourdsville Lake - Officially Closed

As stated before, I am deeply saddened by this news. I was hoping to get there this summer. Maybe there is still hope for the park to open this year. You never know, they could open up in July.

If the park is forced to close, I think Kennywood should buy SE and relocate it to Idlewild. It would fit in perfectly there and have a new lease on life.

My mind works in strange ways. Yeah with a chain driven lift hill and gravity.

Would SE fit in Old Towne in Orlando, FL?
Hopefully LL will not go the way of Boblo Island.

Do the Moo Shoo!

Nooooooo, Screechin' Eagle has got to be the best airtime coaster I have ridden (I am not well traveled), but I am saddened to see it go. Hopefully a park like KI or someone that will take care of it will get it.

If Paramount is willing to manage a park like Bonfante Gardens in California, maybe Couch should approach Paramount to do the same with LL. It couldnt hurt to try.

Arena football has arrived in the Windy City. Go "Chicago Rush"

You guys are talkign as if this were the end of the world. Americana was closed for what 3 years before reopening last year?

There is no doubt in my mind it will reopen again.

Hey Paula, are you guys looking for expansion ideas? I know a classic traditional park with an airtime filled woodie in need of a kindly, first class managemtn staff.....

I'm surprised that kid with the preservation company hasn't popped up yet... Ya know who I mean right? The 14 year old who thinks he can preserve roller coasters with his fan club. I think he even has Jeff as a member on his site... ;)

If at first don't succeed, find out if the loser gets anything.

The time would certainly be ripe for someone with the knack for managing traditional family parks and the resources to invest to buy several of these shaky operations and create a small chain. Camden, Conneaut, Waldameer, and The Lake come to mind and there are probably a few more out there.

This is so sad. SE is MUCH too awesome to just sit there. I was so impressed with my first and only visit to the park last summer. I was looking forward to visiting again.....:-(

It seems a lot of people see this as the end for Screechin Eagle. I don't see this happening. I believe it will reopen again. How can Mr. Couch spend two years getting the park ready, open it for a year, then to just have it close down again. It seems he is having trouble with the management to sucessfully operate the park. What does the management do anyway? If he really wanted the park open couldn't he just hire employees and open it?? With the park open one year, shouldn't Mr. Couch have gained some experience in operating the park to operate it himself?? He did do a ton of work on the park, but just to let it not open again?
Wow, I never thought this many people would have ridden SE! I'm crying with all the rest of you because that park was tied for best I've ever been to, and I was lucky enough to ride SE last August for the first time, and it jumped up instantly with Phoenix, Beast, Grizzly at PKD, Cyclone, and all the bunch. I don't think that this is the end for SE, though, because ACE does so much preservation stuff, and it is such a wonderful ride, that I think another park(hopefully not SF) will buy it. I also think with all the money just put into that coaster, that it will not be torn down.

And, I was planning on revisiting that park this year(I'm in Virginie, so that is a feat in itself for a 15 year old), and I think I will still visit the park, and gaze apon my grandad's childhood coaster with teary eyes.

I think SE is my new #1 coaster, just out of respect.

Does anyone have any SOLID information on attendance for last year? I was there ONE day, but it seemed to me that the park was VERY viable, even with the competition down the street at PKI. Even if SE were relocated, it would never be the same coaster...

Oh man. I am so glad I got to ride Screechin' Eagle and Serpent last year. Both are very fun coasters That was totally by luck. The park is OK, but the coasters are good. Screechin' Eagle's packed with air. I wonder what will become of this park. Hopefully someone else will pick it up. It's a good concept and a nice, small escape from PKI.

You rang! Ok,this time I will control myself. From what I gather Screehin' Eagle is a great coaster but the CPC cannot do anything because We have already asked to manage the park. Jeff Putz was removed because it was someone was pulling my leg.

Ugh

Everyone seems to completely forget that the park was closed for 3 years previous to 2002.

And ThunderFun, you have a serious problem with reality.

Anytime someone says "I'm leaving for good" it's a dead giveaway that they'll be back...and much sooner than later.
