Chuck, I don't disagree with you at all that this could be the "tourist-trap" amusement park--strictly relying on a name and not delivering that much in thrills.
But Sabbath are just one of those bands that have a very dark thing over their heads. They are on of the top bands to not listen to on some conservative site.
There is this great conservative site (well, great meaning rediculous) that lists bands your kids should NOT listen to. And they say all this "he's gay" and crap like that.
But they list Elton John, Cyndi Lauper and Blondie as OK for you kids to listen to (love them all btw.) Kinda ignorant.
Stupid conservatives... I wish someone could explain to me why an artist is "bad" because he/she is gay. Something tells me I'll be rolling my eyes...
As for Zeppelin, I can see why anyone would think they are overrated. If it's not your bag, you're probably going to think that. I'm not a big fan of the Beatles, however I appreciate them for their musicianship, originality, and the fact that they are one of the--if not the--most influential rock band of all time. Zeppelin falls in that category as well, and I'd go as far as to say they were (and are) every bit as influential as the Beatles. I personally think they were better players, and wrote better songs.
I am a Zeppelin fanatic, even moreso now than when I first got into them in high school. Most of their stuff is brilliant...although I agree many of their songs are far too overplayed ('Whole Lotta Love' moreso than most). I think the song fits the coaster pretty well, but holy cow...I can't imagine listening to it (especially just the breakdown part to the outro that they play during the ride) over and over while I'm in that section of the park. I'd resort to bashing my skull against concrete after the 47th cycle.
Edit: Oh yeah, and I do like Floyd, but I can't see a coaster themed to them. A carrousel, maybe? Lazy river? ;) *** Edited 12/19/2007 4:03:28 PM UTC by Vater***
As I said before, I completely respect Led Zeppelin for what they've done. It's not even like I hate the band- if one of their (overplayed) songs comes on the radio, chances are I'll listen instead of switching to a new station, putting on a CD or firing up the iPod. Personally, I just don't understand why some people feel compelled to elevate the band above others from that time. The Who, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, Clapton, the Rolling Stones... the list goes on, and I don't think Zep rises above any of them in particular.
As for a Pink Floyd ride, that would be a trip (pun intended). Can you imagine how much better The Dark Knight would be if the interior of the building featured a Dark Side of the Moon-style lazer light show and CGI imagery?
Floyd? Then you'd have the problem of people popping, snorting, and smoking things in the que before the ride.

Im glad someone else brought that up. It's a song about ANAL SEX. However The park makes it clear that it's not CONSERVATIVE, I don't know where you got that, In their links they got KICK ASS JOBS, Kick ASS Perks ect. I was a little confused at the FAMILY nature of the park myself but I see that it's ROCK and ROLL and pretty much in ROCK AND ROLL, ANYTHING GOES!
Chuck
mOOSH (come on...you gotta admit that's a great name for a ride!)
This is debatable by all, Zep's no stranger and widely recognized so it fits the bill.
However if it's HARD ROCK PARK I expect it to be that HARD ROCK. The Rock and Roll hall of fame IMHO has greatly lost it's sence of direction with the addition of Maddona and artist like her and Rap Artist *** Edited 12/19/2007 7:29:14 PM UTC by Charles Nungester***
Same thing with another all time great band, the Ramones. Now that 3 are gone, funny how super popular they suddenly are. Wow, that was fast. Right after Joey died, 2 songs were on major commercials. It's like so 'uncool' yet cool the band finally have their time (even though 3 original members are in rock heaven).

Influential? Yes.Important part of rock history? Absolutely!
Worthy of having a coaster named/themed after them? Of course.
Overrated? If some people think so isn't it their right to hold that opinion? And didn't you claim to respect people's opinions on page 5 in the thread about Mitch's poll
What "church" are you a man of? Church of Hypocrite?

First off, You dont worry about my church.
Secondly, I just dont believe someone could really say Led Zepplin is overrated. That is like saying Millineum Force is overrated! Just silly thinking on your part.
8 hills. Yes, high and fast, but that's about it. Yes, it's a great ride, but very overrated I think. I'd much rather ride Magnum. Or hell, any of the Intamin Superman coasters.
But hey, we all got our own opinions and likes/dislikes. I just think 'hype' really works in terms of Amusement Parks.
Whenever I talk to someone I don't know well, and they find out I'm into parks/coasters, the first thing most people say is: "Ever been to Cedar Point!!!!???"
I think the place as a whole is overrated. Of course, I did live there 3 summers, and I don't think they have put anything very good in since I've been gone. (and what they did to my beloved Blue Streak is just nasty - I know I know, can't get over it.)
I got some great pics when I worked on the ride, I should post them or do an article some time.

MF is way over rated in my opinion. To each their own and quit demeening people on their views *SILLY* quote.
Thank you

And you think that's not going to happen with any other ride themed to a classic rock band's work? ;)

If Hard Rock Park is truly "not conservative" I expect to see a ride called the Gender Bender in the 1970's section someday
Maybe that's a good theming possibility for Mindbender?

I don't believe someone would call himself "man of the church" and then proceed to issue an insult drowning in so many words spelled incorrectly. But you went ahead and did both, so it must be true.

Pretty good one Moosh, I know Zep was a huge hit but IMHO they are one of the smaller of the much longer lasting and many more hit bands.
As already noted Zep didn't issue singles so they didn't have "hits" per se. But they've sold more than 300 million albums world wide and still going strong, a number that 100% decimates many of the other bands you listed. LOL at Cheap Trick.

LOL! We're getting into pancake territory, aren't we?
I think both Zep and MF are overrated for the most part.
For bonus points, I also think church is overrated too. :)
Three things I don't waste much time with. What do I win?
Ramones (Iggy, Damned, Suicide) or Green Day (offspring, Nirvana)?
Blondie or Madonna (No Doubt, Courtney Love, Sounds, Garbage)?
Devo (Kraftwerk) or the White Stripes (Hives, Killers)?
Led Zep is big, most people have a Zep song that they like (usually one of 4). When your on a pedestal, people will buy what you have. Cedar Point is on nearly ever coaster docu show on Discovery, etc.
Cedar Point (SFMM, SFGAd) or Holidayworld (Indiana Beach, Kennywood, Hershey)??
It's pretty clear who's the 'Cream' here (pun intented).
But just my opinion ..... but funny how people know how to make you buy stuff (A&F, Northface, and Gap come to mind, Cedar Point, Six Flags, Madonna and the once very cool Stones...) *** Edited 12/20/2007 2:12:16 AM UTC by J7G3***
