Last of a kind rides.

The Arrow launched shutle loops have been disapearing fast. I believe that there are only three left operating. Arrow no longer makes replacement parks for them, so parks have had to salvage parts from the ones that have shut down. As sson as the supply runs out, then they will close.

What rides are still operating that are the last of there kind left? At SFGAm they have the Whizzer: last Schwartkopf speed racer coaster, The SkyWhirl: last triple ferris wheel. What other rides are out there that no other place has them running? *** This post was edited by Chitown on 5/10/2000. ***

Actually there is another Speed Racer in South America somewhere. It used to be the Zambezi Zinger.

Hmm.. I have a few. X at SFMM. Shockwave @ PKD. Spiderman @ IOA. Right-o.

Texas Coasters... wow I'm lucky... IM me if you feel like talking about coasters.

Don't forget there are only 2 roto -shake rides operating in the USA.KBF's Hammerhead and SFA's Iron eagle.
l. Somebody mentioned the Tilt-a-Whirl. But there are plenty of those left.

2. The Turtle and Tumble Bugs are the same ride. There are at least a couple dozen left, although there's one abandoned at one of the old Ohio parks.

3. I've read a few claims that Kennywood has the last operating Kangaroo and there are a few more standing but not being maintained.

4. How many of the Rolloplanes are left ?

5. Anybody know of a Bubble Bounce still in use ?

6. Anybody know of a Pinball still in use? (They were also called Ricochets.)

i never knew about SFA having a roto shake; i thought only knotts berry farm and knotts camp snoopy had one. also, the wonder wheel is not the last of its kind as there is a copy ferris wheel that has traccks at california adventure.

I disagree. X and Spiderman are pretty new. I am almost positive that we will see another X and maybe another Spiderman. Let's wait a decade or three and see if you are right.

Speedy you never knew about SFA's roto-shake? it's right across the midway from where Sky escaper was located and was added in 1994, speaking of sky escaper I think a better ride to replace it with would be a zamperla mixer A.K.A. the Axis from Knoebels, now that would be a real treat to have to zamperla thrillers right across from one another.

There are multiple Turtle rides left as well Whalom Park and Knobel's Grove are the only I've been on though.

Their are an overload of Rotors left, their is one at every park in New England except for Six Flags New England(Riverside's was replaced a while back)

Arrow shuttle loops are still here as well, they can also be made by other companys. Meisho, Senyo, PAX, and Okamoto have come out with the revival of the shuttle loops.

Wow. Nobody has mentioned the Arrow Suspendeds yet. While there are more than one operating now, I don't think we'll see another one any time soon.

With any luck, another coaster company will take the concept a step further.

Trimper's has a kiddie Whip that is the only one I've seen in that size, and it is maintained like a museum piece even though it is operated all summer.

Knobel's has the last steel bumper car's that I know of in the US, but I could be wrong on this. They also have many old kiddie rides that could be unique.

Oops...How could we forget? I hope and pray that we see more of these great rides built in the future. I love PKI's Top Gun and BGW's BBW

Kennywood, Enchanted Village and Knoebel's have kiddie whips too (at least). Idlewild claims to be one of only two parks with a Caterpillar with the working canopy right now -- though I don't know the other park.

The last surviving Carl Phare designed coaster is in Vancouver,BC at the PNE/Playland.This coaster still operates with trains that were in-house built copies of Prior& Church trains.

The only operating Prior&Church coaster train(that I know of)is on the Puyallup Fair Coaster Thrill Ride. The coaster itself was designed by John Miller and P&C train came from the defunct Vancouver,BC Happyland Dipper. The other 2 trains were copies built by Walker Leroy and Robert Bollinger of Oaks Park,Portland,Oregon who was the ride concessionare of the Puyallup Fair.

Isn't the Giant Dipper at Belmont a Prior and Church?

Americana (Now called The great americana amusement park at Lesourdsville Lake) is opening in 2002. Indivdual visits are very improtant to the parks survival.

No, actually Riverside's was removed in 2000 for the transformation.

The Orient Express is still the newest coaster with interlocking Vertical Loops. From what I understand there were 3 built. Lightning Loops which is just 2 shuttle loops in one place they have been torn down and move to 2 differnt parks, The Loch Ness Monster, and the Orient Express. I havn't got a clue on why Arrow or anyone hasn't built a coaster with this type of element since then.

That's not roughness that intensity

A couple of random notes to the comments so far:

-I believe the Rotor at Canobie is pretty unique because it was made by SDC, not Chance

-As RllrCstrDude187 said, not counting kiddie versions, there are only three Tumble Bug/Turtles running that I know of (Blackpool, Kennywood and Conneaut) and Whalom's was in decent condition but is now SBNO

-There are a only few Bubble Bounces out there. I believe Stricker's Grove got one last year and Whalom had one.

-Canobie has the other Traver/Herschell Caterpillar with a cover, although some parks like Pavilion have a newer Mack version with a cover

-A few parks (Knoebels, Kennywood, Oaks, etc.) have Roll-o-Planes and smaller carnivals still use them, too.

I would say Drachen Fire and Moonsault Scramble, both of which I had the honor to ride. We will never see a ride like DF again (I don't care what the naysayers say), and that is sad. It was way ahead of its time, but not quite built right. Too bad. Moonsault Scramble was hardcore for hardcore people. Only in Japan, and too bad also. Live in our dreams...............

The Giant Dipper at Belmont is indeed a Prior& Church coaster, but no longer operates with its' original trains.Morgan donated new trains for the restoration of the Giant Dipper.
