Myself, I'd have a test seat in front of ANY ride where it's likely riders won't fit...anyone close should be asked to sit in the test seat BEFORE wasting their time waiting in line for a ride they won't be able to ride anyway...geez!
edit: You've all posted and screwed up my arrows....I hate you all... :)
IMO... ;)

Congrats BorntoCoast! I've dropped 50 pounds since June 05 so I know how good you must be feeling. Keep up the good work.
Congrats Moosh. Not so mooshy anymore eh? ;)
I recently lost 20 pounds from eating healthier, smaller portions more frequently and from chasing a 2-year-old around all afternoon. That's some serious cardio and strength (when I hoist him out of a tight spot).
Now if I could only cut back on the brew intake. ;)
Back when I lost my first 40, I also dropped a good six inches in the same five months because I was doing both. Sometimes I drift to one extreme or the other and while the results aren't necessarily bad, they aren't as good as they could be when I do both.
I'd say good luck--but it doesn't seem you need it.

Anyone care to point those of us unwilling to post the question where their support for keeping the weight off comes from? How about non-extreme/non-fad dieting that works. I know "alli" exists but that seems like a long shot. Yeah, I saw the DDR section and know about ddr4health.com, that didn't do it for me... *** Edited 8/2/2007 4:44:19 PM UTC by jshorerzd***
Other than that, I eat what I want, but not too much and not too crazy...I think these fad diets won't work over the long haul...
I've found a way to control it and lose and keep loosing. Weight Watchers. I've lost 50pds in 18 weeks and still got over a hundred to go to be considered NORMAL although I look pretty good about 20-30pds over what my hight recomendation is. Im going for it all and plan on keeping it off.
Personally, I feel some of the rides designs are a bit rediculous. Mainly Intamin. I could ride MF at this weight it's first two years and I did ride S:ROS SFNE. However it's gonna take about another 60-70pds to fit them.
People don't understand, Its a addiction, A drug if it were. A OUT a stress reliever and there are other causes to weight gain.
The four I had were
Sleep apniea
Thyroid (Under active)
Stress (Divorce of parents and a couple deaths)
Depression (Combination of it all)
You can't just eat a double cheeseburger biggie fry and super size coke everyday for lunch or 3-4 cheese coney's.
THATS MY DAILY ALLOWANCE, IN ONE MEAL!
However, I've learned I can eat just as good and just as much by eating different things.
STEAK AND BAKED POTATO!!!!!!! YUM, ONly 700 calories (8oz) and veggies are free. IM STUFFED AND LOOSING!
POT ROAST and steamed potatoes. SAME! :)
FULL SUB (From SUBWAY GREEN MENU) Apples and a diet coke 600 calories VS Four Cheese coneys 2200 calories.
NOW HERES WHAT DON'T WORK and only MAKES THE PROBLEM WORSE!
1. HUMILIATION Fatso, EWW, YOU CAN'T Fit leads to depression, Depression leads to some form of addiction. In my case and most heavy people (FOOD)
2. TELLING PEOPLE they need to lose weight ect.
Chances are, The person overweight knows they have a problem. The sore feet, Aching knees ect, Shortness of breath. Not being able to go all day.
Be supportive!!!!!! Instead of FAT PEOPLE MAKE ME SICK, Say, I got this friend who lost 120pds on Weight Watchers (Nutri System) Whatever and was never hungery on it. Yes, I have a friend, Actually two friends that did it and I CAN TOO! My brother and his wife both have lost over 100pds on Weight Watchers. Im so proud of them. I don't even recognize them. AND I CAN and AM DOING IT TOO!
Chuck, who never had a problem with FAT PEOPLE. THE UGLY ONES AREN'T necessarily FAT.
P.S. I understand this guys problems. Had em myself and still have em on intamins. However He has to realize HIS PROBLEM ON HIS OWN! I DON'T THINK HE HAS A CASE WHATSOEVER.

I hold to the principles of an early edition of the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet, as I have for almost ten years. The early versions tried to teach readers how to think through varied case studies. Since then, they've unfortunately had to revise it for those who don't care to read and think, but rather hang from the ragged edge of their suggestions, break the rules and then blame the diet for their own failure to adhere to it.
Not every diet is a 'fad.' They represent a change in eating. If the way you were already eating worked, you wouldn't need to change it. Plain and simple.
Regardless of the diet plan, there's no such thing as 'quitting' and 'going back.' You're never going to be able to eat the way you used to. It's just that way. 'Back' is why you were heavy to begin with. Understand that I'm not pointing fingers as I say that. It's just the truth. There's no getting around it.
The trick is finding a balance between the items you like to eat (not the amounts) and the items that will keep you healthy.
One way or the other, it's gonna be work. At some level, it's going to involve doing what you don't necessarily feel like doing. The first year I ran at least a mile a day, there were probably at least a hundred days (if not two) where I'd say "Dammit, I do NOT wanna do this (bleep) today" to myself, if not out loud.
Once I figured out what was wrong with my body, it was easier than I thought it would be. But easy as in effortless? Not hardly. But the accomplishment is worth the effort. You have to believe that.
I lost my first 40 pounds in five months. It took five years after that before I dropped the next 20 and another three before I dropped the next 15. It may take a lot less time for some people, longer for others. But as long as you're willing to keep trying, that's more important than anything...

I can't ride Rye Playland's bumper cars because I'm too tall. Ditto for Rollie's Coaster at Mariner's Landing. Maybe I should sue those parks, even though their point was to keep me from potentially injuring myself?
Your just a freak Rob! Get over it! :)
Chuck, just kidding and wondering what happened to his WCFC?

Moosh, You've lost a lot more than 50pds since I first met ya.
Lookin good man :)
EVERYTHING GETS REALLY OLD and when you blow it, You really BLOW IT! Nutri System and some other diets, YOU BUY THEIR MEALS (WAY WRONG ANSWER IMHO The sodium content in them meals is rediculous for one.
Why Weight Watchers works for me.
1. I CAN EAT ANYTHING! ANYTHING! As long as I plan for it and include it in my plan.
2. It stresses exercise and even gives you more food for exercising
3. Support group! Sometimes Im the only guy at a meeting. Trust me, With fourty women around, I DON'T MIND! :)
4. IM ALLOWED 37 points at the moment per day. Tomorrow I want my once a month fried chicken meal Chicken alone is 21 points, Pluse Baked Potato 5 points, Veggies free so thats 26 of my 37. SO for breakfast I will have a Oatmean and chocolate chip bar and a apple 2 points, Total of 28. Lunch will be a half sub from subway or two sandwiches (Low carb, low fat) and a apple 6-7points for 35 points total and I still have 100 calories.
Not only that. It gives you 35 points to play with so one night a week, I'll have a 3-way made with turkey and my own reciepe.
YOU CAN EAT ANYTHING but not all the time. Fries, I've had them twice in 4 months and I Don't miss em because I don't totally deny myself ANYTHING.
Lots of veggies and water, Thats free! Also Calcium helps to lose. I drink two 6oz glasses of skim milk every day.
Whatever works for you! I say even if you don't wanna pay for all the meetings and meals ect. JOIN, GET THE TOOLS TO HELP YOU, It's all there in your membership packet.
Chuck
1) Eat ANYTHING you want. Fried twinkies are game.
2) Head to the nearest midway and buy as many ride tickets as possible.
3) Spin until you puke.
4) Repeat.
Sorry for being so un-PC. Couldn't help m'self. ;)
I find the program to be very effective. On the outside, it looks like a diet that allows you to keep eating the foods you enjoy while losing weight. When you scratch the surface, the true genius of the plan reveals itself. Sure, you can eat fried chicken for lunch, but you can also find a variety of foods that will fill you up even more for a lot less points, allowing you to have a decent-sized dinner and a snack afterwards. It seems to me that the plan forces me to "train" myself, and I'm fine with that.
And as Playa said, it's all about maintenance. I know that I'm not going to be able to go back to the way I was eating before I lost the weight, but I'm fine with that as well. My old habits weren't very good and I'll be perfectly fine eating lots of good stuff and the bad stuff in moderation. I also appreciate the fact that I'm getting used to exercise. Doing things like parking far away from stores and taking the stairs instead of the elevator in my office and walking into the bank instead of using the drive-up window are good things to do and they hardly take any effort or planning.
I've found the thing I had to come to terms with is that this will be something I have to deal with all my life. I was going to use the word struggle but as I'm getting used to everything, I realize it's not that much of a struggle at all.
I'm not on Atkins. I'm not on South Beach. I'm not on anything with a menu, meetings, payments, a 'do' or 'don't' food list or anything of the sort. I can eat anything I wanna. Anyday.
BUT just because this or that didn't work for me doesn't mean it's not gonna work for somebody else. I've seen folks try everything from Weight Watchers to bariatric surgery--and have seen people succeed and fail with all of them. Which is why I spoke of the general principles for long-term success instead of advocating one plan in particular...

Anyways how I did it was with just eating less. I still ate the same but I would have less, in fact most days Ive limited myself to two meals and a snack. The key is to do whatever works for you.
2022 Trips: WDW, Sea World San Diego & Orlando, CP, KI, BGW, Bay Beach, Canobie Lake, Universal Orlando
Your right, It also trains you that it's not how much you eat, But what you are eating. I've had to change some things, Doctor recipies (Chili I use 98percent fat free turkey instead of beef and fat free cheese but it's the spices that make the flavor anyhow so IM MISSING NOTHING BUT A TON OF CALORIES.
Chuck, who actually preffers a big portion of Brussle sprouts over Fries anymore anyway.
