Knott's getting Giga???

the setpoint floorless uses Intamin track...we haven't seen the cars yet. Is there some other clue that would say that the new ride is not a setpoint floorless (other than "inside sources")?
Oh my goodness, I'm going to scream. SETPOINT ROLLER COASTERS DO NOT USE INTAMIN TRACK! It is an Intamin ride. Setpoint will never uses Intamin track, it's not even the same gauge. Intamin and Setpoint have nothing in common, save for that they use similar looking track.

Ok I feel better now.
Anyone who thinks it is anything other than an Intamin ride has another thing coming to them.

From reading this thread and others recently I have to agree with what Jes said above. Since when do parks and ride manufacturers give out all this information to 16 year olds? Really curious as to how all of you seem to know SO much...

I for one, don't believe anything anyone says until it's proven by a viable source. Just getting a little tired of how so many people (not just the 16 year olds, and I know some of you *do* know stuff!) claim to know everything. This is how lame endless rumors get started, and how people get their hopes up for something that will never happen. (/end rant)

Finals week blows!

Well when the announcement is made, you can see with your own eyes who was right and who was way off, bottom line.  ;)

X......IS.....COMING!
You got it Dweaver!  I'm still laughing at the one post that says that Knotts new coaster's name will start with X!  Not a chance in hell would they do that because of the little park down the street....

oh man Jeff, you took my rebuttle against chris senn!!  haha, my uncle works in Newort News, VA, where they overhaul all the carries in the Atlantic fleet...it is a neumatic system that is backed by steam pressure.  i dont think we will be seeing a system that advanced on a coaster for years.  Hypersonic is close, but a small 8 person coaster train is much lighter then an F18 fighter :)  not to mention those catapults sling jets off the flight deck from about 0 to 160 knots in about 1 second!!  i dont really know much about KBF or their new coaster, but from what i do know is that the box track kinda rules out the invert idea i think...so im bettin its a sitdown coaster.  whether its a hyper, giga, looper, whatever...if its Intamin, its gonna be good, so dont worry!!

Tim....who thinks that CF really likes to make the GP tremdously suffer before releasing new ride info...and this guy thinks its hilarious!! haha :)

ROLLERCOASTERS....BETTER THAN OXYGEN BABY!!!!!!

i think the last thing knott's need is another launched type ride. it has montezooma's revenge, then the boomerang is a shuttle coaster so its in a similar class.  Give me a bad*****drop not a launch.
There is no way that all of these people could know so much about this ride.

Only a few people WAY UP in the Cedar Fair and Knotts organization know, and that is all.  Basically, these people probably aren't the type to go around telling kids their top secret info.

Knotts employees don't know, thats for sure.  Why would they need to?

Well Coasterfanmatt, I would also hope someone at Intamin knows what's going on also ;)

This 36-yr-old will say it again:  picture a full-circuit Mr. Freeze [only slighly longer].  That's what Knott's is getting.  Its not a Giga, its not a Hyper, its not an Impulse.  Deal with it.

But Mamoosh, how do you know?
I hear ya, Mantomatic. I see the same people who write these one line sentences on how much they know and what parks are getting. What also kills me is that, they add the smiley face wink, like that's going to add validity to their statements. Oh yes, I definitely believe you, now...NOT!

It's not that I really care who is wrong or right about the new Knott's coaster (I don't care what it is!), It's just why go telling everyone this? Do the parks that tell people who are "in the know" really want it being spread around? Not trying to start any fights here, just curious...

(Again, this doesn't just pertain to this thread in particular, but all of them that have popped up this past season/offseason)

I don't buy it. If you don't care, why enter this thread? Let alone take time out of your day to respond to it. When I speak of Knott's 2002 project, I'm mostly speaking to other Knott's fans, who want some idea what the project is, not some guy in Ohio who still thinks it's an impulse clone. It's no different than what Jeff did prior to the WT announcement. I don't remember anyone getting on his case about that(not that he would have cared if they did). Whether you believe it or not is your own business, no one's forcing you to.
I think it's also time for enthusiasts to get over themselves. Parks don't give a rat's butt whether we know some details about their new coaster or not, as we represent about 1 percent of the park going public. We will not affect their bottom line. Jack Flafas himself revealed aspects of the coaster himself last year for anyone willing to listen. Was he worried that this would "get out" to the GP? Ask him yourself. Don't mean to sound harsh Jeff, and this wasn't just directed at you.

I have never used a smiley face or said "wink wink" when discussing what I know about Knott's coaster.  I have always spoken in facts:  Intamin, launched 0-70, top hat inversion, overbanked turn, full circuit, sit-down trains, themed to 50's auto shop.  I have always said "think Mr Freeze but full circuit and longer."  If people choose not to believe me that's fine.
The "wink wink" means there is more to this post than your reading on the surface. Never knew it irritated people so much. I'll try to refrain from using it.   ;)
