Knotts Berry Farm Progress

I was at the park briefly on Saturday and was shocked how close to the front entrance the cobra roll is. I thought it would have been placed further back where the sign to Indian Trails used to be. Imagine my surprise to see it a mere 30-40 feet inside the gates!

Perhaps they could work a show around the noise:

"What in turnation wuz thayat?!"

"I dunno, let's have a looksee..."

"Oooh...there it goes agin! Get the shotgun Ma!" ;)

Is it just me, or does it seem odd to anyone else how so far they've put up supports and track in the exact order that the train will travel? It always seemed to me they put them up in a more random order, with supports and track in various places but not all connected until construction was finishing up. I guess it really doesn't matter though...

I thought that was B&Ms method for doing it. I think it would be easier that way...especially when it comes to getting everything to 'fit' right.

Everything "fits" right no matter what. I dont think there is much margin for error.
Nitro started in the middle. I guess it depends on location. It would make sense in Knott's case to do it systematically since they are interrupting normal park operation. That way they can assemble, clean up and re-open paths as they go.

Metal stretches and shrinks with heat and cold. I think it would be easier to stretch from one end using a crane and the weight of the peice than to place a piece between two that are already placed.

Most B&Ms are constructed in order, beginning with the brake run, continuing through the ride, and back to the brake run.
All except hydra which mysteriously started construction the the end of the most talked about section of a coaster lately! ;)

There are no bad coasters, only better coasters!!

True, but it's still being constructed in order from that point ;)
Almost completed Cobra Roll:

By the way, I liked their old slogan better (Old Time Adventures)...(did I get that right?) ;) *** Edited 8/27/2004 5:59:16 PM UTC by janfrederick***

The cobra roll looks so nice, really exaggerated. Reminds me of walking into Dorney and having Talon's helices right there.
Rip Tide Is a thill ride that spins you around. when you first take off they move you down when you are right above the water jets they release you and you swing you into to water. that about it except for the end of the ride they spin you arond 5 times.
the cobra roll is now completed and the next part of the ride that is going to be built and thats the inline twist.

Actually, since that was 6 days ago, I'll bet they're working on that helix now. :)

^ I agree with that. Those pictures were taken quite a while ago. Here are some photos taken on the 14th, so even these are a couple of days old.
