K'NEX Rides!

Ohh wow, Intamin type ride! :) That it'll be fun!

Mainly, I think I could make anything almost, if I hadall thepeices! :)How 'bout you?
I LOVE Lego's, and rollercoaster. The KNEX SS looks like alot of fun, but it also looks quite large. I dont think I would have room for this (or A room). Am I correct in my assumption that the completed design is HUGE. I would most likely use 3-4 sets to build a ride like Viper @ SFMM or something with a lot of elements.

You got that right LoadedG! That's exactly why I want it so bad! :)

I am gonna pick one of these up after Christmas. My goal is to get a few sets and see if I can't engineer a working boomerang complete with the lift on each side. Just have to find a way to get around the anti rollback dogs. Then again I haven't seen it yet so I don't know what I will have to change.

FutureDesigner, are you building the Intamin box style track? (I suppose it is all kinda box track isnt it?) That would be so cool. When you finish this monster, I want to see pics.

Cheers,

How much do these rollercoaster sets cost?

Anyone know?

The Screaming Serpent model lists for about $90, and has recently been promoed down to around $70.

Hey, do they maybe have amusement park ride sets or something like that? :)

They have the original style coaster. There is also a couple different kinds of Ferris Wheels you can build. The Screamin Serpent of course. Plus you can just make up your own designs. So, If you build oll those I guess you could consider it an amusement park.

That's what my basement looks like anyway! ;)

I just got done building the big Screamin Serpent this morning. But for some reason the train doesnt make it up the hill after the loop. Any Suggestions?
I got a Screamin Serpant for my son for Christmas on sale at Target for $54... I should have bought 2 of them cause now they are back around $70. I am looking forward to helping him build it.
Hatham, make sure the whole thing is setting on level ground. Though the train usually has a lot of speed, something like a rug or uneven carpet could let supports get out of alignment. Also make sure the rails are snapped on through the entire drop and loop. All it takes is one to be outta gauge and it can slow the train down.

I just made an inverted coaster this afternoon! It was so awsome! :) But the thing is, it can't twist to the side or anything it just goes, up and down two hills. I made it without tubular track and it still goes. :) I'll probably change around tomorrow or something to make it work with the tubular track. Hopefully it'll work! :)
-----------------
I changed it around! :) And it works even better! I made it twist and everything, it kinda looks like Vertical Velocity, or Superman: Ultimate Escape. I'm having so much fun! This is so exciting.

I just got back from Toys-R-Us and they had the model of the ferris wheel up and running. Wow, that thing is pretty massive in size for a model toy. I looked for the rollercoaster set and couldnt find. Must have been sold out.

Has anyone seen the K'nex ferris wheel and rollercoaster Toys R Us set up in the new store they just opened up here on times sq in NYC? they have a section of K'nex and the ferris wheel is huge and then they made like a super screamin serpant rollercoaster with a bunch of loops and bunny hops etc, It was preety cool if only i could have took it home thou.
The track is like intamin track (sorta), but i just did an intamin style design.  The first drop was very similar to superman's, except with a quicker pull-over and a lot steeper (around 87*)  I changed the bunny hop to a perfect corkscrew.  It is really easy to do any element, as long as it doesn't twist too quickly, and it isn't too high.  It would be almost impossible to do Viper, LoadedG, because the loops have to get decrease in size around 50 percent after each element.

Sorry about pics, i don't have a digital camera, and my scanner isn't working.  I would post pics if i could.

Good thinking Future! :) What else can you make with Screamin' Serpent
I've done a ride with a drop similar to Drachen Fire's, but the corkscrew was closer to an inline twist.  Very smooth.  It had a nice camelback after that, then a helix to end the ride.  I've also done one with a drop that looked almost exactly like MF's, with an overbanked turn and a camelback over the first drop following.  And I made a drop like Expedition G-Force's, with close to the same ending as the one that resembled Millenium Force.

If I could add one thing to Screamin' Serpent it would be a really big bunny hill, then the loop, then a helix. Okay, that's actually two things. ;) The lift might have to be a little taller, but as it stands now there sure is a lot of energy left when it hits the lift.

Chitown: I've got the ferris wheel as well, and if you think it looks big in a store, you should see it when you get it home! The only thing is you need to pick up the motor, because it just isn't as cool otherwise.

Dave: Wow... that's pretty ambitious for a toy that didn't operate the way you wanted! :)

Does anyone off hand have a link to that guy who combined three or four serpents?
