RCMAC, you make a valid point that the same type of ride could be a good fit at KI as well. However, all of the Kinzel clues fit for this ride to be going to Cedar Point.

I have no idea what the ride will be but a Starflyer makes sense at the DemonDrop site. It would look great on the CP skyline, fits the location well and is reminiscent of the many flyer rides of the first half of last century. Granted I would never ride it myself... but would love the WOW aspect it would add to the park.
Unless I'm mistaken (and I am at times) the Demon Drop site won't be used for the 2011 ride. Rather, the new ride for next year is going over on the boardwalk.
If Kinzel says so, it must be true.;)
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
I am just amazed at how often, whenever the topic of a tower swing comes up, particularly photos of the Viennese version, so many people have the knee-jerk reaction of, "I'd never ride that thing!!!". I just don't get it. These same people have no issues at all with riding a Wave Swinger or a Yo-Yo.
Heck, a Yo-Yo run properly (such as the one at Indiana Beach) is a whole lot more frightening than *any* tower swing, unless *the height alone* is enough to scare you.
Well, with any luck, maybe finally a major park will give us an opportunity to explore this topic in greater detail...

You hit the nail on the head.
The height combined with those necklace-thick chains made the Orlando version plenty scary for me...and I don't mean Mr. T's necklace. ;)

I won't ride anything where I'm dangling by chains, cables, ropes or vines.

I heard Intamin version is called Pitfall, they bought the copyright from Atari ;)
I rode Intamin's PittFall.
Is there aligators under the ride just waiting to get you?

Are you aware that the safety rope on a Spider or Monster has greater tensile strength than the support rod? For that matter, it probably has greater tensile strength than the sweep, but if the sweep fails you're pretty much screwed.
(The support rod is the solid steel rod that runs from the midpoint of the sweep to the top of the eccentric and makes the sweep go up and down)

I wasn't, but that is interesting. Of course, there are two major differences: first, the height of the fall from a Monster is far less than from a Starflyer, and you've got some protection surrounding you; second, and more importantly, my inability to ride spinny rides supersedes my desire to not dangle from chains, cables, ropes or vines. :)

So I read on another site that Cedar Point opened their big giftwrapped box and guess what was inside? Cookies...which they handed out to park guests there for the birthday celebration. No ride announcement.
Cookies > Ride Announcement any day.

Maybe it's gonna be what we "enthusiasts" sometimes refer to as a "cookie cutter" steelie...B&M or otherwise (Butterscotch and Molasses?) :)
The amusement park rises bold and stark..kids are huddled on the beach in a mist
