I gotta go with Pagoda on this one - I honestly thought that Ryan was representing the park on that country show topic, and I almost responded that I wasn't going to be attending RWW, but pay the park a compliment - until I read the signature and realized he wasn't from the park at all.
If you're not "directly affiliated" then why do you make posts like this one?I've certainly never seen a fan site do advertising for the parkwithout any sort of reference to itself. Looks to me like that postcould have been written by Don Helbig himself.
I run a whole fan site for Kings Island that more or less does advertising for them and no one's really ever question that. Why would this be such a big difference? I'm very proud of what my home park has accomplished in terms of live shows and entertainment since Cedar Fair took over and I wanted to share it with you. Does that have to involve KIC? No, it doesn't. In fact, I think if I just came around to plug the site it would cross the line of spamming the forums. You guys are more or less here to get information on parks and discuss the industry and I thought I'd contribute to that. I'm sorry if anyone saw that as out of line.

Then why not pay the park a complement? It's not like the park wouldn't see it if it were on here.
Iwas wondering this myself. Why would someone who is a "Media director"(how much dos that pay, anyways?) for a Kings Island fan website bethanking people for attending the event? Unless he is park staff, or apromoter of the event, like Jeff and CoasterBuzz, it looks like he'sjust trying to make himself look more important than he really is.
Does he expect a "You're welcome" from all of those who attended? lol
Do you thank your friends for taking the time to hang out with you? I do. Maybe that's just a common curtesy that's lost in today's culture. It was simply on that same front. I thanked people for coming out to the park and joining the many other enthusiasts for a fun-filled weekend. It's really not too lofty of a concept for you or anyone else.
Since when did Jeff become an official "promoter" of this event? I'm pretty sure it was a park event and Coasterbuzz, amongst other groups, had the privileged of attending. I run KIC and we had many members in attendance. What do you need to do to become a "promoter" of an event that's not yours?
...and since you asked, our contract with Cox Ohio Publishing pays myself and my staff decently but like any other job we all feel overworked and underpaid. :-)

Additionally, the RWCW site stated that the cutoff date would be May 6th at 5:00pm.
Sorry Ryan, but your flat out wrong there - and I have a saved PDF of the page to prove it. I just don't understand how you knew of the deadline when it wasn't on the RWCW page.
Hey, at no time did I claim to be promoting anything, other than stating that club members were invited to attend as they are for Coastermania, HoliWood Nights, Timbersfest, Solace or whatever.
That said, I run a CP fan site too (for 11 years), where I have a relationship with all kinds of people. And even though we go to each others' weddings and have beers together now and then, I would never phrase anything that presumes to speak for the park. I understand your enthusiasm, and I totally get where you're coming from, but there's a line you have to straddle that keeps you at arms length, maintains your objectivity and, most importantly, doesn't imply that you're an offiicial representative of the park. It seems a lot of people haven't been able to see where that line is. My experience is that if you don't respect the line, people will call you out. It's happened to me more times than I can count.
I'll take off my old man hat now, so get off my lawn!

But everybody knows that you're secretly in the pocket of CF to cover up the GL fiasco.
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
No, I'm just Dick Kinzel's golf buddy and part-time assassin for the board. Keep that on the down low!
