Kingda Ka topped off

Well they are building a new section along with the coaster. KK might be finished but they have a whole new area and small stadium to build.March is pretty early for a "seasonal" park to open, so I expect a world record breaking coaster, new area, new stadium to be opened in May.
I think the park did pretty good with construction as they pressed on through the delays. Besides not a lot of people would enjoy their cold trip in the park and most likely come back when it warms up for the ride, I know I would.Oh and the brakes on the top of the top hat would slow it down but not "STOP" it. So it would go around 15mph but it would keep you up there for a extra 2 seconds, cool feature.
Regarding people wondering whether the brake will cause more rollbacks, I suspect it is positioned so that the majority of the train is over the hill before it has an effect. I would like to say here that Intamin know what they're doing, but history doesn't really support that statement (!), but looking at the pictures, it looks like the train will be on it's way down before it the brake has much effect.

Also, does anyone think this is why the OTSR were added? Being held an an angle overlooking 418 feet downward isn't exactly safe with lapbars.

If they're properly designed it probably is. Remember the incident in Six Flags Belgium a few years ago where a Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loop jammed upside down in the loop? Passengers were held in by lap bar only. Might not be all that good for those of a nervous disposition though, but on the other hand will anyone not be a bit shaky when they stop at the top of a drop like that? :)

I was watching the video of the topping off of Kingda Ka and was wondering something. What is the significance of having the American Flag on the top piece. I know this has been done many times before, but I was just wondering what the flag had anything to do with the topping off or highest point.
Yea, that's exactly what it has to do with. Any steel structure either has the American flag or a christmas tree or both at it's highest point.
