Kentucky Kingdom to get a new roller coaster

Posted | Contributed by Joey Stewart

Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom is using the word "lightnin'" to hint at the thrill ride it's bringing to the Louisville amusement park next season, fueling speculation among coaster enthusiasts.

PModern says:

'Let me point out that what you people find 'funny' by making sarcastic comments about different rides moving around and such, only brings Hell to us other webmasters because the sheep you are feeding this information to actually believe it and then try to find other sources to "confirm" your idiocy.'

Yay! Hooray! All that hard work paid off. I'd think someone with the screen name 'Panther Modern' would appreciate it.

Panther M then said:

'Do you KNOW how many people actually emailed me asking if the rumors that only HALF of Shockwave was coming to our park?'

No, but I'd love to see the figures. I'm always amazed at how gullible people really are.

Why are you and Pancake still getting so worked up about this? If I'm not mistaken, you're the one that brought it back up.

I'd be more than happy to go to my local Six Flags park and find a copy of The Legend. That way, I wouln't have to make the trek out to bum... (you get the picture) Indiana again. There really wasn't much else to do there besides the two coasters, and the waterpark was way too crowded to be enjoyable. Names have been used over and again since the early days of coastering, and many were either clones, or near clones of each other. How many Cyclones have we had? How many Shockwaves have we had? I doubt it has affected anyone's ride at all. I think it's the internet's fault that people have become so picky about ride names/clones etc.

No, I don't appreciate it when other peoples idiocy causes me grief.

You have two types of idiots.. those who believe, and those who cluster together and come up with the crap.

Give me your email address. I'll gladly forward you a sample of the hundreds of emails I've gotten about Shockwave, Texas Tornado, and now Greezed Lightnin. People are very, very gullible.

I NEVER cease to be amazed at how gullible people are. Of course, I will never stop being entertained by it either...maybe chris really DOES want to be masochistic....maybe he already IS....;)

As Fox News says: "We inform, you decide".

bill, who finds it absolutely hysterical that he actually QUOTED Fox News (sic)

Its definatley not SW at all.I spoke with a park reprsentitive yesterday on the phone (The same guy who leaves all the SFGAm recordings on the phone) and SW is staying at SFGAm until 2004 until they send it to another park. The new coaster will mst likely be the tidal wave/viper. It even says that on rcdb.

Panther: Is it true that SFAg is getting half of SF Chicago's Arrow looper? Which half?

What exactly is the average age of posters on this board?

Just out of curiousity, and off topic

Like I said, you have an interesting screen name for someone who doesn't get/appreciate this joke.

Wintermute says more:

'Give me your email address.'

No thanks. I'm much more interested in the numbers, not in samples.

Anyway, this is becoming tiresome. Why did you even bring this back up again?

p.s. Don't host a coaster website if you don't want obsessive geeks e-mailing you about nonsense. I know I don't.

Half the fun was seeing who would believe such a proposterous rumor, and the other half was seeing how overly worked up SFAW-fans like you would get.

Any word on what name Tidal Wave/Viper will go by at SFKK? Viper Wave possibly? ;)

Will Six Flags recycle the name along with the ride, or will they come up with an "original" superhero name. On that note, does KK have any superheros yet?

Coaster Cat - I'd say that it's probably about 19.

...tell me about it chris....I still want to be a Toys 'R' Us kid, and I'm on the downside of the 30s....

Luckily, we have our *old age and treachery* to get us through...;)

As far as superheros at SFKK: The Penguin (Blizzard River) is it. Of course, I don't guess the Penguin is a "superhero" after all. :)

I think T2 was supposed to be re-themed as Batman, but I guess they changed their mind on that.

Pinball and Coasters...Any Questions?

Well, everyone's already chimed in with what's going on.

Viper is moving from Georgia to Kentucky Kingdom and is going to be placed alongside the road that cuts the park in half; the Thin Lizzies track looks to be moved or modified to make room for this ride. Since this park lost their boomerang awhile back, they haven't had a sit-down looper, so it's a good fit. Apparently they figured the name "Greezed Lightnin'" would appeal more to the backwoods Kentucky moonshine crowd than "Viper", so they will be reusing the Astroworld shuttle loop's theme.

WOW! It's good to see that SF is catering to my fellow "backwoods Kentucky moonshine" citizens.

Just when I think I've seen it all in these forums...

I live right next to the park. I've been looking over at the park all the time I'm on the expressway and I haven't seen anything out of the norm except for a crane. I didnt see exactly where it was...I could of swore it was by main enterence, but that would be crazy. I didn't think they had any room there. I keep you updated. There is a street that runs right next to Twisted Twinz so maybe I might be able to see something there.

Outlane, whaddya mean, you're NOT coming to the *throwdown at the hoedown* tonite....seriously, if you EVER start to think you've seen it ALL, you're leading too sheltered a life....people never cease to amaze me, that's why I stay "perpetually entertained"...:)
Yes, if you think you've seen it all, go look at the 'Japan' thread.

True, rollergator. I've often gotten a good chuckle out of other people's idiocy. :) It just amazing that people are willing to show it so often.

Anyway, at least this season I'll have one more reason to make multiple trips to the park. I haven't ridden a Anton shuttle loop since my one ride on Tidal Wave many moons ago.
