I heard the same thing. Looks like your right. I say, get ready for a stunner!
Does anybody think the new coaster will be record breaking? I feel that they don't really have enough room to put in a giga coaster in and that it would cost too much money to build. I'm hoping for a record breaker but I wont be surprised if it isn't

oh yes, the new launched inverted standup by b&m will be announced! oh wait, that is cedar point. kennywood is getting the boomerang that is 400 feet tall at a 90 degree angle. believe me, my dad's friend's mailman's uncle's dog's wathcer is the operations manager at kennywood and i talk to him all the time.

What is a boomerang coaster anyway? I find that hard 2 believe.

#1 a boomerang is one of those coasters that go forward and backwards with a cobra roll and loop made by vekoma
#2 sarcasm

Kennywood is a great little park. I definitely will be going back next year. The wood coasters are all classic, the admission is cheap and they have a great selection of flat-rides and darkrides. Exterminator, an indoor spinning mouse by Reverchon is excellent. Make this part of your trip to SFO and CP as I did.
PLEASE anybody where can I attend this Press Conference? I am DYING to be there!!!

HOW IN THE WORLD did you get 60 rides in one day!!!!?????
My heart goes out to ALL Phantom buddies. I hope to take my final rides this weekend.....
**sniff**
:(
PS....very funny there "punk" !!!!! :)
Speaking of Steel Phantom...I've never ridden the ride. How much of an effort between now and when it closes should I make to to make the trip from Richmond, Va to Pittsburgh, Pa?
Remember guys, large coasters take up less room than you think.
Where do you people get this info? Sure Kennywood may not give info out till later ,but all this crap about what the coaster will bve is crazy. Kennywood is NOT getting a boomerang! I do not know for sure ,but I would bet my life on it. They would not mark off all the land they have for a boomerang. Where do you get a Record breaker would not take up any room. The footers on these rides are BIG! Look at the SP. I would just Keep you mouths closed untill the real info comes out because your making fools of yourself!
Alpenlochwolf, I would not travel all that way for the SP, I personally am glad it is leaving because it's rough and not enjoyable. If you do come over this way do so to ride MF!!!!
ARROW GUY, thats what i'll be missing most. The ride ops, the smell, even the blood i left on the arm rest, after getting a splinter in line.
Ahh, how close you get to a ride when you ride it all season.
Alpenlochwolf, it's really an aquired taste. Everyone loves B&Ms, but Arrow multi-loopers are fun for some, and a pest for the rest. If you've enjoyed other arrow multi-loopers, like me, then you'll be an instant Phantom addict.
Just know this ride is a little nutso, the way steel should be. I only can HOPE the new coaster will carry on the legend of furious intensity, which SP did so well.

hey punk, calm down. The original message just said there would be a press conference. Why all the sarcastic remarks? It is around that time that parks start announcing there new attractions for next year.
Some people do know before it is announced like i think it was simcoaster who said at 5 in the morning(5 hours before the press conference) that PKD is getting a thrust air 2000 called Hypersonic and he was right.
man, i was just throwing fun into the discussion. i am excited for kennywood. i have never been there, but i will be going next year for sure. its only 100 miles away.

Kennywood themselves said that they couldn't compete with Cedar Point in terms of height and speed. If it isn't a giga coaster, I sure hope it's taller than the Steel Phantom. (At least 260 FT) I highly doubt that it will be a small steel coaster or another wooden coaster. The Kennywood Entertainment Company hasn't made as much money this year and they're calling it below average year, which makes me think they will add a giga coaster to attract vistors from all around the country. A small coaster would not attract people as much as a large, giga coaster would. Can't wait for the official announcement!
KPGuy
I'm not telling you what the new coaster is going to be but I can tell you one thing, it will be unique.
