Kennywood attendance 2002 and what's new?

They *wouldn't* put a roof on it because the lawyers tell them not to. But, he makes a very good point, its just a wooden structure with some lighting on it, it wouldn't take an entire offseason to build a roof, so they could probably throw it up in mid-April and have it ready for opening day.

No what I meant is why wouldn't they want to put a roof on (that's if they would change the current plans of putting one on)? I'm sure if Kw was aloud to put a roof on during the season then they would have, but then again probley not during the season, because they would have to close off that section during the construction so that probley wouldn't happen until the off-season.

It is to my understanding that the whip was down alot last season, and the roof really did keep the weather out.

To my knowledge, the Whip was never down last season except when it was being rebuilt and when it rained hard after the storm. I think I was only called there once all year.

The only real reason for having a roof is to keep the sunlight from making a frying pan of the metal decking, and to save some weather-related wear on the seats. There's no real need for it, it's just nice to have.

I have a reproduction of a Mangels Whip catalog. Just about all of the pictures of operating rides show them out in the open, so it was common practice at one time.
