Gotta have the Godfather of Soul.

Hostyl and I have both nominated songs from the JB's. That is short for the James Browns. They were his backing band and have produced music greats Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley and Bootsy Collins, among others. While the JB's hits are mostly instrumental you do have James gabbing it up in the background and leading the band through the chord progressions. If you like James Brown, you NEED to check out the JB's!

I love funk!

Yeah is Good!
What about "Soup Is Good Food" by the Dead Kennedys?

I have to vote for Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant".
Yes Paula, I'm familiar with "Schooner Fair", not to mention, "The East Virginia Toad Suckers". (Real group, but I believe no longer exists) I enjoy chanties and many other forms of folk music.

I may have missed it, but I didn't see any mention of "Turkey In the Straw". Always lots of harvest songs too.

Someone posted the lyrics, actually ... they're quite dreadful! :)

Thanksgiving is in November, correct? 'November Rain'.
I just have to laugh at the thought of Zeppelin or Violent Femmes being cranked through the PA at HW. That would be a day to remember!

Hey why not as they already play RUN DMC's "Christmas In Hollis". *** Edited 8/14/2005 1:50:21 AM UTC by Paul Drabek***

If you just want a bunch of food songs...

Lollipop... My Boy Lollipop... Yummy, Yummy, Yummy... Chewy, Chewy... Sticky, Sticky (Yay 1910 fruitgum company and Ohio Express)... Cinnamon Girl (Neil Young)... Scarborough Fair (Simon & Garfunkel--- Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme-- sounds like a stuffing recipe)... Savoy Truffle (the Beatles)... Soul Kitchen (the Doors)... Big Rock Candy Mountain...

For varying degrees of PC, there's Indian Lake (Cowsills)... Indian Reservation (Paul Revere and the Raiders)...

And to add some "corn" there's always "Melon-choly Baby." And in a whole new category...I Yam I Said (Neil Diamond) and What I Yam (New Bohemians). We must be out of our gourds!

Given my husband's profession, I'm deeply ashamed it took me this long... "No Milk Today."

Yeah, I'm old.
