Just for fun: Suggestions for Thanksgiving-section music

You could always put in the perennial wedding favorite "Chicken Dance" and just rename it to "Turkey Dance"

--George H

How Bout Coolio's 'Fantastic Voyage'?;)
Lakeside's original track was pure funk (as opposed to rap) and a lot easier on the vocals--to say nothing of how well it would mesh with Sly.

But I think somebody mentioned it already...

Some more obscure choices...

And for dessert...

"Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie" by Jay and the Techniques. Not to be confused with the polka of the same name. I'd go with Brave Combo's version of that.

Not to mention American Pie by Don McLean and Cherry Pie by Warrant

Skol Vikings
Let's shoot us some deer Joe Joe!!!!

How about Pour Some Gravy On Me (sounds like a Weird Al song) instead of Pour Some Sugar On Me!!!

Guns N' Roses - November Rain

Yes I got a GNR song in! Now I need to think of a Metallica one.... ;)

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

What, no "Turkey in the Straw?" (some of my favorite lines excerpted below)

Turkey in the straw, Turkey in the straw
Roll 'em up and twist 'em up, A high tuck a-haw
And hit 'em up a tune called Turkey in the Straw

Went out to milk and I didn't know how
I milked the goat instead of the cow
A monkey sittin' on a pile of straw
A winkin' at his mother-in-law

I came to the river and I couldn't get across
So I paid five dollars for a big bay hoss
Well, he wouldn't go ahead and he wouldn't stand still
So he went up and down like an old saw mill

Visit our Swim with the Goldfish activity!
With their hands in their pockets
And their pockets in their pants
Did you ever see a fishie
Do the Hootchy-Kootchy Dance?

I could listen to Sly *all* day, no problem. But I'll be stuck here in Gainesville...still listening to Sly though... :)

...and if I'm takin' the train, J, it'll be the D-train...Digital Wonderground baby! ;)

Since I don't think you bought my American Indian idea, what about these songs................

I'm gonna eat (on thanksgiving day) - Laurie Berkner

Thanksgiving (No Way Out) - Violent Femmes

Run Turkey Run - Rob Beadle Triangle Band

Sweet Potatoes - Pete Seeger

Pumpkin Pie - Billyblues

Bake me a Country Ham - Cleadus T. Judd

Eat your Green Beans - Happy Campers

Then there is always Charlie Brown's The Great Pumpkin song and Thanksgiving Theme by the Vince Guaraldi Trio.

Let the good times roll - Zingo
My guess is that Thanksgiving Song by Adam Sandler is out of the running due to content. How about "Come Sail Away" by Styx for a nautical theme but don't play Christopher Cross's "Sailing" because it's sleep inducingly bad.

I just hope nobody gets the idea to include that abysmal Golden Girls theme song (I'm not even going to mention the title). And if they do, put them in the stocks, and then give them a good dunking.

So anyway, is Wavy Gravy still around? Maybe you could get him to do some stage announcements a la Woodstock.

If you can find a Pink Floyd song that would fit the theme you must use it but I don't know of any and I am the world's biggest Pink Floyd fan!! I would love to hear the greatest song in the world (Comfortably Numb) while riding the greatest coaster in the world (The Voyage) but I don't think it would fit the Thanksgiving theme too well.

It is a FACT that The Voyage is the greatest thing on the planet!!

No play the whole album in its entirety. I've been listening to Smile for years (I had a bootlegged copy of the original recording sessions in college) and yes Brian Wilson's finished version is one of the best albums ever. Also "Surf's Up" from the same would be great for The Voyage as well.

"(Coming To) America" by Neil Diamond... although I am partial to the version sung by Tony orlando in concert! :)

Ray P.

Well, since we're allowed to bring REAL music into this, how about two more from Mr. Orlando...

Bless You
Just For The Joy Of Giving

And we'll throw in "Who's In The Strawberry Patch With Sally" even if it doesn't quite fit. ;)

- Jeff

How about "Food, Glorious Food" from the musical Oliver?

And didn't the Archies do "Sugar"?

Weird Al has a Lasagne song that's mighty tasty...

and anything by Bread ... or Peaches & Herb.

Another Weird Al tune that might work, Eat It!

How about "shake your tail feather".

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
