Just for fun: Suggestions for Thanksgiving-section music

The Christmas section is easy.

But Thanksgiving? What sort of background music should we play for that holiday?

Over the River and Through the Woods will get very old, very quickly if we don't think of a few more tunes.

How about a "thank you" theme for the music?

Let's start off with that international favorite:

Danke Schoen

And Sly and the Family Stone's:

Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin).

What other appropriate songs are out there? :)

Paula
Hope to see you October 1

Actually (as I thought was reflected in the thread name) ... I was hoping to call out the punsters and other clever sorts.

Thanks, though ...

Well I got vote for Sly - just love that song!

Here's some more:

Don Henley "My Thanksgiving" from his 2000 album 'Inside Job'

Perry Como "Prayer of Thanksgiving" from his "The Lord's Prayer" album

Violent Femmes "Thanksgiving (No Way Out)" from the 1998 album 'Rock!'

Graham Parker "Almost Thanksgiving Day" from 2004 album "Your Country"

Too Much Joy "Thanksgiving in Reno"

Adam Sandler "The Thanksgiving Song"

Alanis Morrisette "Thank You"

Tori Amos "Thank You"

Dido "Thank You"

Led Zeppelin 'Thank You'

I nominate Adam Sandler's The Thanksgiving Song, hehe, probably not appropriate for HW.

Alright, a topic I finally know something about. :) Let's see...

There's "Thanks for the Memories" by Bob Hope (and a million other versions)

"Thank You, Girl" by the Beatles

"Thank God I'm a Country Boy" by John Denver

"Thank You" by Dido (my tea's gone cold...)

same title by Led Zeppelin (If the sun refused to shine...)

"Thank the Lord for ther Nighttime" by Neil Diamond

Another R&B/soul song from the 60s, can't remember who did the original though (you didn't have to love me, but you did, but you did, and I thank you).

It's a start. I'm sure there's a kazillion others out there--many of which should not be considered. :)

Since we're talking about Thanksgiving, Voyages, and quests...

The theme music to "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" ;)

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Well Paula, you can always have some American Indian music playing - I think they were involved in that first Thanksgiving somehow :-).

And speaking of Indians - the Thanksgiving section of the park would make for some good flats themed to the Indians - you know like the hawk from Zamperla themed as a Tomahawk, or ...................................................what am I doing, this is like telling a preacher about the bible - I'm sure he knows a whole lot more than I, as I'm sure you have already forgotten more things than I will ever know about a theme park.

Let the good times roll - Zingo
"(Coming To) America" by Neil Diamond... although I am partial to the version sung by Tony orlando in concert! :)

Ray P.

Banned in the U.S.A.

"Thank you (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)" - Sly and the Family Stone

Even yo' golden brown turkey's gotta shake its stuffin' maker to THAT.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Is anyone familiar with Schooner Fair? My oldest brother lives in Maine and got us hooked on their music.

Some rowdy sea shanties would be fun!

It's not Thanksgiving without Alice's Restaurant Massacre.

You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant.
Oh you can get anything you want,
at Alice's Restaurant.
Walk right in it's around the back,
Just a half a mile from the railroad tracks

You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant!

Theme music from NFL Film's productions seems proper to me. ;)
Turkey in the Straw?

hahaha!

How 'bout Petula Clark's Downtown for all those shoppers? :)

More seriously, just about anything Copland wrote would be good, particularly his folk-inspired works. Appalachian Spring, Rodeo, and a few others could really work.

Some more obscure choices...

"Thank Heaven for Little Girls" (unfortunately, that might be more creepy than schlocky nowadays)

"Cold Turkey" by John Lennon (though probably not appropriate for a park experience)

Songs that mention the word "turkey" in the lyrics include "Long Tall Glasses" by Leo Sayer; "The Lady Is a Tramp" (Rodgers and Hart); "You're the Top" (Cole Porter). Porter's "Anything Goes" also mentions Plymouth Rock. "Planet Clare" by the B-52's mentions a Plymouth Satellite :)

And for dessert...

"Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie" by Jay and the Techniques. Not to be confused with the polka of the same name. I'd go with Brave Combo's version of that.

Did Vince Guaraldi record a soundtrack for The Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Special?
