Jackass of the Day, Week and Month

Fox still has Simpsons, but that's about it :oP

Annnnyway....I say that members should be able to pull up someone's profile and vote them a jackass if they wish. Then the jackass percentage could be shown in parenthesis after the user's name when they post.

Ok this is getting out of hand, Coastaplaya it is actually a funny idea and will probably become an inside joke on the site as someone may say " So and So gets The Award today " and we will know what they are talking about However declaring someone a Jackass on the site looks very unprofessional (funny but unprofessional) and Jeff you run a very professional looking site(congrats on that I'm sure it isn't easy)

Secondly even though I said I think it's funny, I am 33 years old , I as a father would not like my 8 year old son to come on this site innocently talking about his favorite coaster and somebody call him a jackass for it

This site has good moderators who do a fine job of deleting or closing TOS violating topics without help from others.

So in closing let me say again to coastaplaya(and coastaplaya only) that it's funny, but for the kids and the professionalism of the site it just shouldn't happen

Feel free to give me "The Award" if you disagree with me

Actually, I think that Jackass of the month is very Jackassy. I mean, everyone on this web site somehow gets mad at someone else because they post new topics that happen to be on there already. So? What it they don't know and they are a new user and you go yelling at them that's not going to make them want to stay. I've heard all over the net that the rudeness of people in these forums have contributed to CoasterBuzz's partial impopularity.

Impopularity? Give me a break... people who don't like us don't like us because it's moderated, and that's fine. Alexa puts us at a higher rank than anyone but RCDB, so take that for what it's worth.

But you illustrate my point... you don't just show up and try to be the life of the party. I mean, when you start a new job or new school or whatever, are you comfortable and a prominent part of that community the day you start? Of course not, so why would you try to do the same in an online community. That's what I'm getting at here.

Well, now that we have a full fledged conversation out of this, I'll add something else.

Being called a jackass isn't that bad. All that means is that you have long ears and can kick the hell out of someone that pisses you off. :) I own a jackass. Really I do. His name is Honkey...Honkey The Donkey. So can we make the award "Honkey of the Month?"...wait a minute...that would stir up a whole new dispute! :)

Seriously though, all the above information is true.

Oh yeah, anyone can log onto this site...13 years old is supposed to be the legal posting age. All the words not blocked while posting are spoken in the media, so there's nothing that a kid would read here that he wouldn't hear on TV. But if any kids haven't heard all the words in the book by 13, they are extremely sheltered.
