Jeff says: I'm wondering, Legendary, what specifically you find to be amateurish in Keith's work compared to that of Intraxx?
Specifically, his SKC animation bothers me. The camera angles get all weird for most of the ride, and the first drop is way too fast (moreso than Nitro, IMO). Basically, it's those two things that make it look ameteurish -- awkward speed and awkward "camera" angles.
Have you seen the new Tornado animation he did? That blows away anything Intraxx has ever done, period, with regards to detail, landscaping and texturing.
No, I have not seen the new Tornado animation.
Pretty amazing when you consider he doesn't have access to CAD files and such. And where is the audio? The third-person perspective shots?
There it is, right there. You seem to enjoy the animations for the scenery, audio, etc. I'm only interested in the *roller coaster track*. I think BN's track is excellent, but so is Intraxx's (reference MF's. I *love* the MF animation done by Intraxx.)
I'm also assuming Intraxx did the CG track layout picture of Nitro? If so, that's superior to any third-person perspective shot I've seen at BN.
Lastly, Jeff wrote: Putting "corporation" after your name doesn't make you better at what you do. The "amateur college kid" in this case makes the better product, and he has a current and fabulous portfolio to back it up.
That's your opinion, not shared by myself. I think if Keith and Mike had access to the CAD files they *could* be better than Intraxx. But as it is, they aren't. They are pretty damn good, however, as I said before.
And Keith, you should be proud of your work! I'm not trying to bash it or anything, just saying that I think Intraxx does a better job. If you keep at it, I'm sure you can surpass them someday, too. Good luck!
Joe, who will download the tornado animation as soon as he gets home from Sea World Ohio tomorrow (gotta process that pass!).
