Italian Job At PKI in 2005!

Thats I feel also now I can only take my grandma on the train ride. She can no longer ride coasters and likes the shows. So for her its not worth a trip any more.

I am pretty confident that the Eagles are not flying to coop so to speak, they are just finding another nest. ;-)

As far as the Antique Cars, who knows. :-/ But I can't see PKI removing those forever either.

I think it's a fantastic spot for the new coaster....right in the middle of the action. :-D

Are they moving the burger place as well or is that staying? (just curious and/or too lazy to scroll through the whole thread for the answer, if any).

Italian Job looks like one of those *fun* rides.....not so much *intense* per say but fun, as in Storm Runner or California Screamin. ;-)

Kings Island does indeed have a Parent Swap system because I used it last weekend with CB's LoriU and family. It worked out really well, so I don't know what the problem was on your visit(s) and trying this.

Danny- Well, unless I have totally missed something, the only "parent swap" policy I have been told PKI has is for all persons involved, including the little ones, to stand in the queue and the non-riding parent step over and wait in a designated area while the first adult rides, and then switch. If anyone knows of some practice or policy other than this, please inform. We really appreciated Cedar Point having that little form that the ride ops check off. It made our last two trips there really easy. As for rides at CP-in addition to the kiddie rides mentioned, CP also has a lower height restriction on many of their flat rides, bumper cars, and would allow a child to sit in the drivers seat of their Antique and Speedway cars, so long as an adult sat with the child and pushed the pedal. PKI would never allow this.

I agree that the cars are in need of upgrade... a lot of the "classic" rides at PKI are. Anyone been on the Carousel? It's a shame. The paint is badly chipped and peeled on numerous horses. The Beastie is a mess. Anyone have trouble with the seat belts on that gem? I just wish, for one off season, some effort would be put into the rides and attractions that are already there. It is like there is no pride anymore. Today we went into the Coney arcade around 11:00 a.m. The place was a flithy, disgusting mess with trash all over the floor from yesterday.

A lot of posts I read on here have comments about being concerned about the upkeep of a ride not even built yet. Obviously, these people are concerned because they see the same things I see.

Anyway... just my 2 cents...thanks for letting me give them!

Shari

I really don't understand this. Are your 16 and 19 year old daughters still too young to roam the park by themselves? They don't have to wait with you guys in Hanna Barbera and surely they're old enough to go out on their own. While family time is priceless; I'm sure they/you could live a while and have fun being split.

Also PKI does let your kids wait in line with you so you can ride. There is an area at every ride where they can wait for you until you are off. No offense, but are you really paranoid someone's going to come in the station and say that those are their kids and take them?

I think PKI has some sort of paper form because we were offered it at Flight of Fear, but we didn't mind staying together and then switching once the other person rode. How does CP do it?

A - Will the walking path between the E-Tower and Rivertown be altered to accomodate the ride (closed, moved, etc...), or will the ride completely sit in the tiques land space?

Well this is just my opinion but from judging from this picture http://coasterimage.com/kingsisland/pki104.htm i dont think its gonna need much more space. Keep in mind the vid repeats itself several times over and over.

There are no bad coasters, only better coasters!!

Now I can't wait to see what PKD gets for 2005...

Longer flyer cycle...

Damn straight! Id much rather wait in a ful Que and get a decent ride than just get up to speed and the ride being over.

Chuck, who may not renew his SP because of short flyer cycles :(

That's the lamest reason I've ever heard for not renewing a season pass. Good work!

OMG I have a new sig!!!
Thanks Joe!

But when every other ride at the park has become so familiar and concequently almost boring. They flyers are one of the few rides that I get a rush out of.

"Now I can't wait to see what PKD gets for 2005..."

Maybe the Addams Family coaster?

But therin lies the problem. Visiting a park very often leads to dis-enchantment with it.

If a person goes to PKI over and over and over, of course the rides will become familiar and boring.

I have begun to limit all of my excursions to not only PKI, but also to other parks... simply because burnout was running rampant in me. It has begun to make a difference and I get much more enjoyment out of my visits.

If you eat you favorite chocolate cake way too many times, no matter how large or small the portion, you're bound to get tired of it and grow ill.

Shaggy

Yeah I gotta agree with you, Shaggy, although it doesn't happen to me TOO much, it does happen.

Chuck, might I suggest going to the park and not riding much, if anything? Do different things. Go relax at Boomerang Bay for a day. Go hang out up atop the Eiffel Tower for a half hour. Go people watch.

I've found that taking it slower at your home park helps a lot to relieve the "burnout" you can get by riding the same things over and over and falling into a "pattern". Just some suggestions.

OMG I have a new sig!!!
BTW- I just rented and watched the movie and found it to be pretty enjoyable. The spy, adventure thing is my kinda movie anyway, and as stated, Charlize Theron doesnt hurt:)

Wanna go for a Ride?
Aurora University Golf

Charlize Theron is smoking hot in that movie, o ya and the movie wasnt bad either
NO... our teenagers are entirely capable of going to an amusement park on their own...however, in OUR situation, these are two girls who live 400 miles away, so when they are
with us, we try to spend time together, whether it's at PKI or Cedar Point, Disney, wherever. We have split up many times, but it is nice to be able to tour the park as a family, especially when we are vacationing.

As for the difference in "parent swap" policies between PKI and CP (And, please, park employees, if I am wrong feel free to set me straight).... PKI allows you to "swap out" only after your entire party (including infants, toddlers, etc) have stood in the line together. I don't believe PKI allows parents or other adults in the party to reenter via the exit ramp to ride. Cedar Point however issues you a form at Guest Relations that the party who waits in line turns into the ride ops. The paper has your name on top, and the date, along with two places for each major attraction to be checked off/initialed by the ride ops. When my husband and the older girls were done riding, they would exit the ride, and then one of them would accompany me back up the EXIT ramp where I would give our name to the ride op. They would have our paper (on a clipboard,in their pocket, wherever) and they would check it off, give it back to me, and then seat us on the next train, or the one after. It was GREAT!! We would always ask the attendant at the ride entrance how long the line was (and they were always on the money!) and then I could go to a nearby attraction with the little one, come back when it was getting to about the time we expected them to be in line, and then I got to ride everything with no hassles!

Shari

Shari,

I am in complete agreement with you.

Paramount loves to label rides "family" rides.
But i do not consider a launched mini coaster a family ride. Family rides are rides that ANYONE can ride, regardless of height, motion tolerance etc. The antique cars fell in that category.

The amusement park seciton at Kings Island has few rides in that category now..........the train, the helicopter monorail, the carrousel, haunted mansion, quick draw railway, the effiel tower. Thats about it.

Most everything else is a kiddie ride with a max height requirement, or a high or low thrill ride with a min height requirement. This new ride is definitely a thrill ride.

This new ride sounds fine. But calling it a family ride is misleading. My 46" niece cannot ride. My mother would not ride it. Some of our family would be waiting on the bench.

Kings Island has a nasty policy of removing a ride everytime they add a new ride. I seen reports that park attendance is up. But capacity remains the same. That translates into a lesser park experience. More waiting.

I dont know a kid that doesnt love to drive the cars. Removal of that ride is a poor choice. Especially with all the surrounding land.

I would qualify Hershey as a family park better than the Paramount parks. They have a few more family type no-height requirement, low motion rides, and they are scattered through the park. They also have kiddie rides all over the park. A family can spend the day together there (at least in the same area of the park and everyone has something to do) instead of splitting up as you tend to do at Kings Island (kids in HB land while teens are on the left side of the park).

This new ride is a good idea. It is just coming at the cost of one of the very few family rides in the park.

Needless quotation removed. Does anyone ever read this?

I Disagree with you!

you are forgetting about The Beastie,Rugrats Runaway Reptar,White Water Canyon,Wild Thornberrys River Adventure,The RACER,Spongebob 3D...those are all Family rides.Plus quit cryin about The Cars the cars will be back in 2006 under the name of NickToons Toonpike the land surrounding the Cars will be themed like a park with Nicktoon characters all around from what I have been told.

Paramount is planning to Unleash new rides into there parks one ride planned is a High Capacity Spongebob Squarepants Darkride the other is an Addams Family Dark ride like Phantom Theater or Haunted Mansion at Disney plus a water Coaster themed Nick which is going to be for all ages. There are many more rides on the drawing board that I cannot speak of.

The Italian Job: Stunt Track is kinda like Test Track at Disney and is KID friendly just wait and see.

Explain that it is kid friendly to my 46" tall niece when she cannot ride.

NO rollercoaster is a family ride. Come on, you listed the racer with a near 90 ft drop. All of the rides you list have minimum height requirements or have drops or rough motion.

Like i said a family ride is something anyone can ride. Child to grandparent.

While some enthisiasts may consider a smaller coaster a family ride, IT IS NOT A FAMILY RIDE. Marketing this ride as a family ride is misleading. At least 2 of 5 members of my family would not or could not ride this ride.

My Grandpa ride those rides just fine--No rollercoaster is a family ride really? what about Runaway Reptar?

Your Niece can ride that its kid friendly-The Racer it a family ride I see lil two year olds riding it all the time.
