Another effect that I actually saw working for the first time last month was on your Cat in the Hat ride. The spinning closet room was supposed to have a "curtain" of clothes, rolled back as you approached to let you in. You probably noticed the clothes on the side as it was always in the "open" position. It works now.
Again, nothing major, but I think you'll have a better time and see that Universal Orlando really is taking steps in the right direction.
Sigh....and the aviary would have looked so cool....

"This time I think ... I think it's ... it's going to work!" - Dr.Bruce Banner
That much is obvious to the layman. Or, is it?
You saying it's untrue is about as believable and convincing as the other folks saying it is.

May the Schwarz be with you.
As for the ride itself, it has had 3 ride vehicle upgrades (not to mention upgrades on the 3 different versions themselves), a computer system changeout and all of it without significant downtime.
Most of the effects work consistently and properly now - the Statue of Liberty head still only partially works, the original concept was that it was on the floor and rises over the SCOOP when hit with the ray - unfortunately, it was a bit tough to do that repeatedly and reset in a short time frame so the head starts over the SCOOP and just rises some more when hit.
Only effects that aren't constant is the fog in the sewer tunnel, ranges from sparse to overwhelming.
As for IoA running out of space <laughs>, there are numerous spots to build various size attractions along the parks perimeter. The only disappointing recent build is the "warehouse" type building where Maximum Carnage was held during HHN last year next to Dr. Doom and behind Cafe 4. Its a great spot for the next dark ride style attraction for Marvel if they do one.
What's next for IoA? Who knows at this point - there were several concepts that were close to being greenlighted but until the ownership issues with Vivendi are resolved I don't know if anything major will be built. Remember, all of the USF attractions were greenlighted several years ago and are just now entering the build phase - of course, who knows what was greenlighted for IoA that we might see.
Have Fun!
