Is Cedar Point worth a 400+ mile trip?

is 1000+ miles away trip to CP worth it?. hMm
Its worth it becuase did 510mils from NYC to get up there wich took about 9hrs for me and it was well worth it. i only was abel to go to Cedarpoint only thou not SFO (at the time) becuase my sister had a cast on her foot from sergury (about 1month 3weeks before the trip)but my parents know how bad i always wanted to go there and how i wacthed MF before it was even up so they took me and i was thankfull for at least getting to CedarPoint. just wondering how far apart are SFWOA and CedarPoint? but if theres on thing i leanred at CedarPoint its be prepared to wait in lines!
Please MrMightyMouse, use the spell check!! Anyways, Of course it's worth the trip to the Greatest Park in the World. Go to Cedar Point's website and judge it for yourself. And please, PKI is no where as good as CP. PKI is a nice park, with alot of attractions and thrill rides, but does not compare to CP. *** This post was edited by Lukedog on 6/26/2001. ***
Just because some people think that PKI is better doesn't mean that this should turn into a "NO!! Cedar point is way bettar!" thread. Its just somebody's opinion. sheesh.

Well, im sorry that i have a different opinion than everyone else. Its an opinion. I think PKI is better coaster wise. THe only thing that outranks any coaster at PKI is MF. Thats it. Remember, ITS MY OPINION!

..or a thrust air, or a LIM launched, or a shuttle, or a *good* wooden twister :)

Seriously though, it's one of my favorite parks to visit. *Magnum* alone is worth the trip. Millie is sort of the "Baked Alaska" or "Cherries Jubilee" of the park, but Maggie is the Filet Mingion!

Oh and ChiTown, after fighting the traffic in and around O'Hare, paying the fare to fly to Cleveland, getting RAPED by the rental car taxes, and the hour or so drive out to sandusky. You might not find that 5hr drive from the Chi to be so bad.

400 miles is about an 8 hour drive, not worth flying, plane rides costs too much.
Did you hear the news that airline prices are dropping? Delta is reducing fares. I wonder why? Because noone is flying this year, we're all saving money waiting out the recession (oopps, I didn't say the R word did I?). I'm one of them, haven't flown anywhere this year. My friend lost his job, went on interviews and drove from Chicago to St. Louis, companies would not fly him for free like they used too.

Yeah, if you drive the 400 miles then you midas well do the circle thing and hit all the parks in the area (PKI, Kennywood, SFWOA, then CP).

You did say next year.

Beg your mom to give you a trip down here to Orlando to visit IOA/BGT/SWF in February when the lines are short. Tell her that's what you want for Christmas. That is worth flying for.

OK, let me rephrase, fly as long as you don't have to go throught that airport.

What? Where are you flying from? I've made I don't know how many trips in the last two years through BWI for $70 or less. As for rental cars, book through Travelocity or an agent, otherwise be prepared for that rape.

What does Travelocity have to do with the TAXES? The basic rental fee hasn't been bad, but I've been less than happy with the 11.1% concession recoupment fee, PLUS the 7% sales tax, PLUS the city tax, PLUS the transportation fee (because the freakin' "Airport Location" isnt really *at* the airport). Like I said, I've gotten reasonable rates (via SmarterLiving.com) but all theses 'add-ons' seem a bit much.

Oh and even though Southwest is a very cheap flight and I will continue to use them because I *AM* cheap, I dont like that there is no assigned seating. I just dont like the 'herding' that takes place before boarding. Unfortunately, they are the only ones who will fly to CLE from B-more/DC for a reasonable price. Just about everywhere else I go though I fly USAirways. Maybe I'll just start flying into P-burgh instead :)

Yes. My dad and I convinced my family to fly to L.A. so we could go to KBF and SFMM, CP is worth a long trip for any coaster lover who hasn't been there yet.
Despite the bashing, I'd only say it is if you visit SFWoA too.

Try Continental between CLE and BWI. Right now they're generally around $100, but they're much lower late or early in the season.

As for taxes, that's everywhere. You haven't been really smacked for car rental until you've been to Hawaii, and that's not even counting the gas.

Well, I live in Philly and it took me about 7 hours to get there!!! Cedar Point is the cleanest and best park on the planet!!! Period!!!
Oh, let me make sure I set the record straight on one thing. I dont EVER plan on driving out to CP from DC. BUT, we did make the trip by car thrice from Chicago. From Chi, it makes more sence to drive. But from DC, aint no way I'm not catchin' a flight. Unless I feel like driving to Chicago to show off my Jaguar or something and use CP as a midstop...

--who just paid $1.62 for gas....and that was cheap!
I drove from Boston to Cedar Point and stopped at Niagara Falls on the way (kinda). If you plan to drive to Cedar Point and drive back without making any stops, that's pretty stupid, but if you make a road trip out of it and make a couple stops along the way, then it's very much worth while.

Maybe I'll drive to Ohio and get gas where Jeff got it and drive back. Boston gas prices are in the $1.70 range. :(

400 miles too far to drive? Nonsense. That's nothing. Fly? What's the hurry? On our spring vacation last year the wife and I drove eight THOUSAND kilometres (that's about 5,000 miles for you Yanks) - and I'd do that again in a second. Can't think of many things I enjoy more than a road trip ...

-Michael (who feels that the journey IS more important than the destination).
Basiclly, in a few words, HELL YES

I went to Ohio for a holiday earlier this month, and I travelled all the way from England which as you can guess is slighty longer than 400 miles away, more like 4000 miles I guess;);)

Anyway, Cedar Point is an absolutly dream park to visit, I was so glad I made the trip, It was so worth it and MF is worth the addmision alone.

So Basiclly, Cedar point is definatly worth the trip wherever you live, Just do it:):)
