Iron Dragon's "new" paint job

Anne McCaffery's dragons of Pern come in green, blue, brown, bronze and gold.

Gold and red says "dragon" to me. although I have to agree I'm not sure how those dark teal cars are going to look.

Hold up. Who took those pictures and how are they legal?

I can't speak for the other photographer but as for the picture listed above, I took the photo and did get permission to share it.

Suuuuure you did Sean. We all know you are a big trouble-maker... Hoodlum! ;) LOL
BANNED!

OMG I have a new sig!!!
I like it, but maybe if it was in a different area. there are millions of color shades to pick from, and putting the 2 same colors right next to each other, not including mantis, is just ridiculous. maybe the name will change to Top Thrill Dragon :)
Good one mantis man! Seriously, that was funny. I guess you could look at this way: yellow and red are colors of fire, and dragons breath fire. I'm just reaching...
In my opinion it looks absolutely ghastly! Are they taking pointers from Great Adventure and clumping all their coasters with similar colors together? I know the new paintjob is totally radical, tubular and gnarly. But in an aerial photo, seeing the different colors is much more appealing to the eye.

Fate is the path of least resistance.

I've got some photos from yesterday here.

For those who are debating the true color(s) of a dragon, perhaps you should think outside the box; look at the pictures of a Chinese New Year where they have a bunch of people under those colorful costumes parading around. Those things are all different kinds of colors not just green.

And on a side note, Why does the park put what looks like a pillow case over those lights in the park?

If I'm not mistaken, that was where Raptor's queue entry logo/sign was. Why are they making a new one? The old one alright.

That's a good question. Perhaps they're redoing the sign for this year?

The original sign is still there. It looks like the entrance is just being angled toward the front gate. It's a better presentation.

Maybe they'll move the Freeway entrance over next to the regular entrance while they're at it.

I wish they'd do that at Magnum too because you always get people coming up the Freeway ramp without stamps looking to get in line. At least Raptor's Freeway was off the beaten path and not right on the midway like Magnum's.

Either that or at least put better signage at the start of the Freeway ramp so people without stamps are less likely to walk up there. People are usually okay when we have a long line and we tell them they have to go around to the regular entrance, but when there's no line, people sometimes get whiney.

The best solution may be to just cut Freeway off at 8 or 9PM on Magnum and close the ramp because we usually don't have much of a line after that time and it's kind of a waste having a person sit down there and not really offering any benefit to guests.

To keep from splattering paint on the glass?

Cedar Point is weird in the off-season. I swear you'd think that when they winterize it that it's never going to open again. Heck, seeing the park a week before opening day you'd think it would never open again!

That's about the best guess I've heard yet. The first thing that came to my mind was maybe they were trying to prevent birds from building nests inside them. I dunno.

I think it will look great as soon as the trees start to get leaves and the park comes to life...it really brightens that area of the park up. It looks more amusement park-ish, happy & bright. It could be pink and neon orange for all I care, it's more lively than what it use to be!

Very drastic color change, however, I think I can adapt to it. I liked how it was kind of neglected looking and how it nosed around in the trees without the track sticking out. Oh well, new paint is new paint, I can't complain. This part of the park is looking great with all the reds and yellows. Still not as shocking as WC, and that was fine.
It is a ton better than the beige color was. At an amusement park I personlly would rather see bright colors. It's fun.. I absolutely think that the Wildcat looks like a new ride now. And the same of ID. Now lets see what they do with Maggie.

According to a very credible source Magnum will not be painted this year. I think the iron dragon mid way is being sum what updated. My reasons are Mantis red track, Iron dragon whole new color scheme, and wild cat new colors. It will be interesting to see what they do next.
