If a coaster is put into Rivertown like we're all thinking, then it will probably be built out in the woods around white water canyon, so it probably shouldn't ruin Rivertown too badly, if at all. As long as the new ride isn't a hypersonic clone, and that would completely destroy Rivertown.
Aquila, a Swing Thing is a/the (Flying)Super Saturator at PCw, except with the addition of water cannons, jets, etc. It's bascically a family suspended coaster with 2 rows of 2. I think the car swings right to left along the very short but extremely wet course(unless they triple it's size in every direction, I don't think you really want one). What you really want is the log flume/coaster, a liquid coaster. Picture a log flume(water, half tube track, drops, etc, with the addition of roller coaster track to add some thrill elements such as a helix, or sharp drops or banked turns ending with a splash. Do you see it now? SWOrl adds the theme of a trip to the sea world of Atlantis with special effects, fog, lights,...(which is odd, b/c of the 2001 Disney cartoon release).

Kings Island does need to expand Rivertown. It is too small. Just blink and you'll miss the entrance to White Water Canyon (Rapids?)...and the walkway to the ride is huge. They could open the woods up a little to add rides and more theming. There's a lot of room back there.

Argh! This is what I am talking about! NOOOO!!!! The whole point of Rivertown is that it is quiet, and scenic! It doesn't need to be bigger! White Water Canyon is AWSOME because it is very isolated. Why would you want to ruin something like that????

I agree ravenguy98. The isolation of the, well, three operating rides(2 SBNO, 1 re-themed) in that area really add to the feel of each ride. It is one of my favorite areas in any park.

What 2 rides are SBNO? I see three alright, but there is only one that is SBNO and that is KCKC. The other 2 are the Beast which is operating and White Water Canyon which is still running. The rethemd log flume is now part of the new Nickalodeon Central.
To me I think Rivertown does need a boost because it's pretty much "dead" as in no crowds. I'm glad that PKI realizes that Rivertown is in need of being popular again and I think that whatever is replacing KCKC next year will help Rivertown become popular. At least Action Zone won't be as crowded though.

SBNO:
1)KCKC
2)Les Taxis(Rivertown side)
3 Operating Rides:
1)The Beast
2)White Water Canyon
3)KM&MV Railroad

Koaster King, sorry. I forgot about the taxi ride on the Rivertown side. Also I didn't count the railroad because I considered it a transport ride to Water Works.

It wouldn't let me get out at Waterworks last weekend. I guess it's a ride then.

Can anyone explain why PKI closed off the ivy- covered walkway between Rivertown and International Street? It was one of my favorite landmarks and was disappointed it was closed off last summer.

Obviously, I was being sarcastic BEASTmaster. :)
And I think that's been closed off for a while X Factor. I used to love the water squirting blue elephant, the slides, and rainbow over the walkway too. I think all of them left with the Paramount buy or just before Nick came in.

C'mon Ravenguy, Rivertown (Now) is about the size of a living room. What's wrong with expansion. They don't have to destroy what's there now. Just add a path. Are you going to complain about more rides? It's the perfect spot for expansion.
the last year for that ivy covered path was `97. When they renovates Hanna Barebera Land they got ride of most of it and the remaining part, if its still there is now used for picnic tables!
Kings Island has lost TONS of theming since it was originally built, much thanks to Paramount and their lack of creativity of getting the rides to fit the sections they are assinged to.....As mentioned, adventure village (wild animal safari) was turned into a non-themed meltdown of various rides. Does anybody remember the original charm of Oktoberfest? Look at it now. Carowinds is just as bad....rides stuck wherever and this park originally had GREAT theming. Any ride can be themed with a little creativity. Its a shame and hopefully whatever they are sticking in Rivertown will fit there.

Yes, i aboslutely am going to complain about more rides, if they have to tear down a bunch of trees to do it. PKI has tons of space for expansion, and it should be done to sacrifice a great themed area. PKI can do a lot in the FoF area of the park, and i think they shouldn't be doing it there, not in a very pretty forested area.
Frankly, i was upset when water works was built because it took a lot away from White Water Canyon. Until then, it really felt like you where in the middle of a huge forest away from civilization while standing in line, which made it one of the most impressive ride instalations ANYWHERE. I don't want that ruined but any new ride, no matter what it is.

Actually ravenguy98, Water Works is nowhere near Whitewater Canyon. That's why PKI uses the railroad to transport people to the water park. Waterworks is closer to the kid's section than Rivertown. In other words Whitewater Canyon is still secluded in the woods. You can't even see it from the Eiffel Tower.

At one time, the railroad used to be a ride all to it's self. A really neat one, at that. I was very disappointed when they decided to use it as a transport to WaterWorks. It used to make you feel like you were actually out in the wilderness, and when you came upon the outpost, there were even robbers who would stop the train and point fake guns at you. I still think they need to totally re-route the train to make it more like a ride again. People can walk to and from WW - it won't kill them. It could even give them a chance to dry off.
As for Rivertown, before (and for a short time after) the opening of the Beast, there used to be a peaceful nature trail that looped around for about a mile back through the woods. You had to walk all the way back past the original canoe livery and island (where the Beast's lifthill now is) just to get to the entrance to the trail. They closed the trail after a lady got raped back there one time.
The whole point to Rivertown wasn't so much that it was supposed to be some peaceful place in the park. It was created to mimic a yesteryear feel that recalled the Ohio wilderness of 150 years ago. The towns and villages of the Little Miami valley, as well as the Ohio River valley, were all built because of the rivers. The whole theme of Rivertown was supposed to revolve around the incorporation of water, and the wilderness, in the rides. Therefore, you had KCKC, and the original canoe livery, and the log flume, and the railroad. Putting in Whitewater Canyon was an EXCELLENT fit for the woods of Rivertown. When The Beast came along, the canoe livery went. And the fact that the Beast is a wood coaster fit it better than a steel one. (Actually, even though it is technically a steel coaster, Adventure Express should have been placed in Rivertown, because it is a mine car-type coaster. They could have themed it to an actual mine train, though.) The Beast still held the theme of going out into the wilderness to face a terrible beast that was out there roaming around.
I was terribly saddened just to see the bridge over the lake was taken out. That was one of my favorite walkways. I think what we are beginning to see in Rivertown is a modernization of the water theme. That is why I don't think we will see a steel hyper or giga whatever in that section of the park. It will more than likely be another water adventure.
PKI is going through a transformation, and it will be a much better park in the future. Personally, I think Paramount is doing a great job of retheming the whole park. They are basically keeping the original themes, just modernizing them a bit. The kids area is still a kids area, only larger, and now it is modernized with Nickelodeon and RR theming. Very modern for kids. When I was a kid, Fred Flintstone and Scooby Doo were the big things for us kids then. But they aren't anymore. When PKI takes something out, it usually replaces it with something better. So let's not get too upset about what is transpiring in Rivertown. 'K?
Don't tell me what to be upset about. Paramount destroyed Adventure Village. I know that much. I also know this:
On the far side of White Water Canyon, there are now many places where trees ONCE STOOD. There is now quite a bit of cleared land on that side since Water Works was built. Its not the same anymore. I also know this:
Right now I see construction going on right next to the Beast. That upsets me, and that also should upset anybody else who really, really loves The Beast, and it really should upset people who love coasters for the right reasons.

Don't touch the watch.
IT DOES UPSET ME.........but I do believe that whatever PKI is doing its for the best of the park. If they do ruin River Town then well to bad because they didn't look into the project enough but if they don't then kudos to them. I seriously don't think they will. The reason I like PKI more the Cedar Point is because PKI always finds a way to make an attraction fit with the themming that's already there. Don't believe what you think the future brings....things might surprise and shock you.
