IAAPA 2000: Pirate photos and video show what might be new Arrow coaster

Note how the outer rails control the pitch of the seats. The outer rails vary in distance from the main rails. As the the outer rails get away from the main rails, a tie rod pushes (or pulls) a lever on the seat assembly to rotate it. That means precise control over rotation.

Thanks Tornado and Millennium Force for the spots!

I agree with backseat he is correct if you look at a lot of the pics that mf provided us they seem to focus on this point of the car and track. I don't think that this is a ploy this looks like some kind of presentation material they would use to explain the ride to potential buyers.

This thing is going to cost a fortune for parks.
But I guess it could be worth it, I mean this has the potential of being a floorless, a flying, a inverted, and a reverse coaster all at different points of the coaster and would easily beat the inversion record with a straight piece of track that flips the cars ten times. This could be very big!!!!!!
But then again it is an arrow!!!!!

I just hope it won't flop like the pipeline! The pipeline flopped because of its cost and this looks MUCH more expensive!!

Well, I am very excited at the prospects of a coaster that runs on both sides of a track. I've seen photos of the new Setpoint design, which would be PERFECT for a hyper racer, which I've been dying for, and this new arrow design looks like it will be a perfect melding of all types of steel coasters, if they can keep the price right, and the roughness to a minimum.

BTW, the Setpoint photos are at http://www.inficad.com/~brandon/Setpoint.htm
Yep, the outside rails determine the postion of the seats. One of the pics shows a gear type configuration. http://www.geocities.com/arrow_metrock/arrow/MVC-709S.JPG
If you look closely to the far left and right you can see a straight bar above the outermost set of wheels. This ride looks interesting, but I think it would be way to expensive.

And with that assembly in place, I would have to assume that the seats may be able to flip all the way around, but they'll have to go back the other way before the end of the ride.

well.... whatever arrow is cooking up... it's on my christmas list! this could be a dream for a park wanting to add a intense, original ride into a small space. the only kicker would be those outrageous-looking cars.

Steel aint better, wood forever!!
WOW! Is all I can say. This thing looks amazing! Reminds me a little of the Arrow suspended, only floorless. I'll be saying WOW alot over the next few weeks...

SOMETHING IS COMING!!!
In 2001 a new *beast* will rise at SFMM.
I don't know what too think of this yet. Right now I am more on the side of crazy. Spinning along the side of the track seems sickening to me. I would rather hang over the side like the B&M's (G5) with no spins. This will be interesting.

Not to start an uproar or anything, but could this be the going to SFDL? I thought they were rumored to be getting something big this upcoming season and we haven't heard much of anything lately. After all wasn't their Viper (from Arrow) the first coaster to have 5 inversions? Why not give them another Arrow first of a kind.
Just an opinion.
If you ask me, this is too good to be true. Actually sit back and imagine the moves this ride will be able to pull off. I think that this design will be momumental. Think about climbing the lift hill, and then falling straight down, as if you were on some S&S turbo drop, then sweeping along the ground track twisting, flipping around the cage, how disorienting. I am in love.
It is so cool that they actually made this thing. Wow. This is a step above a flying dutchman IMHO. They can make the ride all facing straight down, like the dutchman, or in any other position of course. I wonder if they will give the center portion of the train any shell or if it will just look as mean as it does now. It looks so wicked!
i think it looks interesting to say the least.
that being said arrow scares me although they are getting better.
if i dont bang my head and shoulders on the restraints then how bag could it be.
We should know something official soon. If you go to Arrow's website now, it says their server is down while the site is being updated.
Well, I just tried to check the Arrow site. The first time it came up the same, when I tried to reload it it came up with the full screen being the logo that was in the pop-up. It said the site was being updated, so I guess we'll all know something soon. I agree with pretty much all that has been said. This thing looks like it could go either well, very cool or very stomach churning.

Arrow's site had been down the whole afternoon i have been waiting to see what the anouncement is going to be. I think the the ride is going to be very fun. I think the ride might go to knobles but don't qoute me on thay

Wherever it goes, it will be expensive. I think it will be SO expensive that only large chain parks (Six Flags or Paramount) would even be able to afford it.

It looks to me like the "flipping" is controlled by the second set (smaller set) of running rails. My guess is that the flips will be pre-determined by the design, and would be the same number of flips per ride.

-------------
So you want a coaster in your backyard? I hope you have a big backyard.
Definietly Soggy. Same flips per ride, based on the outside running rails.
I think all of you just experienced the "4th Dimension". And know one figured out who I am yet. Jeez. Or where I work.
Well, it's certainly NOT in Arrow's Spelling or Grammar Departments.

Come on, Agent Johnson, if you really DO know something, spill it... otherwise, well, you know.....
