Did you get to ride Hypersonic XLC that day? It sounds like a good idea to hit Volcano if it says XLC is closed then walk over to Hypersonic after Volcano?-----------------

Yes, I got to ride Hypersonic. If hypersonic is closed, go to Volcano, then if it's open got to it. I went to Volcano, then FOF and Anaconda. I walked over to Hypersonic and it was still testing, so I went on Ricochet. After I got off Hypersonic was open. I got on with about a 20 minute wait.
It IS likely you'll get to ride.
The park is not making promises about H:XLC because people should know they're waiting at their own risk during problem times. If it goes down & you wait, don't expect anything, asides a cup of water, for your time/so-called troubles.
One person went as far as to say that they would continue to operate with the ride advertised as closed from the lot, with limited guests queeing up, for as long as they could hold off on actually opening the ride up real obviously, just in case.
There are problems, still, so what! I don't think they're lasting. Tuesday it went off without a glitch after a horrible Monday. Monday wasn't as bad as last year, they seemed to be having problems with individual seats or rows. They opened a couple of times, but the #1 had no front or back row open. Next year, new trains? What will people think then;).......
Besides, you're worrying about actual times, so to speak. That's too much thinking, just go!
Not to argue anything, though, rides open at 11 unless you're in for ERT. I know this not only because it's advertised outside thier gates, but because my wife watches her watch & says what time it is all the time for no reason.
BTW, Tuesday it looked like they're prepping the area under the bunny hill for something. It may have been cleaning/painting, but there was a covered light-machine rig thing & the ground inside the fence was covered in tarp. There's no telling with that thing, though.

BTW, Monday & Tuesday were INSANE hot. Monday must've wrecked me, 'cause by Tuesday I was in slow-mo. Hope the heat index doesn't topple 100, LOL, it's miserable up there, & I live at a beach I couldn't believe the VA heat;).......
Not sure if this helps, but yesterday was my first time to PKD and, we got there around noon to see two signs, side by side at the park entrance:
"Hypersonic will not be operating today"
"Hypersonic will begin operating at 1pm today"
Both would ultimately prove to be false, since, the coaster was in fact running when we got there are noon, and was down for a couple hours shortly after that. Yep, it was down at 1pm, re-opened at 3pm. We got on at 5pm.
Never having ridden it before I have no real comment on how it compares to last year's incarnation. The best 4-5 seconds of coastering experience. The world's worst photo station (both trains that we were on never had anything remotely close to our complete faces -- and this was the only photo out of the 30 or so we have taken over the past two weeks that we were ready to buy -- well, that and Legend). Heck, just take the picture pre-launch, folks are plenty scared there anyway. Get a clear picture anyway.
So, in short, it's as erratic as ever it seems, and park signs lie.

SFGadvMan, I would highly recommend calling the park the day you go, instead of trying to get information from people on line.

Yet they put up a "Hypersonic will not be in operation today" while it's running.
