Hypersonic XLC questions?

Why didn't it open in the beginning of '02. Was it the trains? Why was it so unreliable and why isn't Dodonpa having the same problems? Also is it open reliably now, because I need to know because I am going in July to get it as #100.

I believe it was closed because it was very un-reliable and the original trains needed to be modified(I think I heard they weren't very "aerodynamic"?). It seems to be open and running fine as of now and you will be able to ride it in July unless it breaks down, as is the risk for any other ride.

Actually, I heard it has closed back down.Go here:

I went to the park today and they had signs up everywhere that it was closed, but it opened at around 11:30. I got 1 ride in. It seems a bit more jerky around the turns with the new trains. Still a great rde though.

I really hope this doesnt become another Bat.....dodonpa(sp) isnt having problems though is it?
Sunday on our way to our hotel, we stopped to get gas across from PKD, where we saw signs saying Hypersonic was closed. It was fairly early, & in 15 minutes time, we saw no trains go over the hill. So to the hotel we continued.

The next morning, the signs were up in the lot. Hypersonic closed.

Around 11:30 Monday, they opened, sort of.

They are allowing a limited number of park visitors to ride Hypersonic as guests, although the ride was not open on that day, the days before, & likely the same for following days. That way, they're not setting themselves up by telling us it's open, when it's easily could have downtime. They will not be giving things to you this year when you stand in line & don't get on, it's like a wait at your risk.

Monday, we were almost on, three trains away when somebody got stuck for 20 minutes. The mechanic was busy walking around working on then thing when things started looking good. Then, the power went. Only for a couple of seconds, but the power went out. It was the heat, LOL, code red. But, as soon as they could find the keys, they had it back in under an hour. One of the trains, you couldn't sit in the back or the front. The other train was fully operating. Throughout the day, we noticed it down several times. We were sad, "like the Bat" indeed, we kept shaking our heads, it was just like last year.

Tuesday morning, the signs were still up, there was no sight of activity, after getting in early & walking around, hitting the long line of Volcano easily & playing with their woodens a little, we got in line, because around 11 there was a gank-load of employees riding. Then, from the line-up outside the quee, the guy let us in, & within 15 minutes, we were on the front of that thing again.

Tuesday, all day, as long as we were around, both trains operated full, launched very regularly, & it was beautiful.

Rolling out to launch, the train is bumpy, you can feel the difference. After lauch, it's smooth of course. The train mod does sling you around a little. It's more difficult to see from behind another seat, but the new headrest area thingie doesn't ruin your ride. The back was incredible, hadn't made it back there last season, but the new mean seat is front. The zero car missing makes all the difference in the world.
Air was amazing, even with the restraint all the way down. I can't say enough how much a differnce that zero car being gone makes.

For those making plans, go ahead. If you arrive & there's no signs, run to it. Otherwise, if you see signs, you need to get Volcano out of the way, because it would be pointless to wait. They don't seem to be having Hypersonic ready at park opening, but they'll change that if they can get more bugs worked down.

Thanks p_c_r that really helped. I guess I'm gonna go ahead and go for it. Still anymore help would be appreciated.

Anyone know why it isn't opening at 10 with the rest of the park. Also if I was going in July do you think I would get to ride it? Because I only have a few more days til I have to make the plans.

"They don't seem to be having
Hypersonic ready at park opening..."

And it seems they'll let you in at ten with a pass, but it's been 11 when rides like Volcano open.

What do you mean with a pass. And Valcano opens at 11?

Season pass holders get in the park at 10(?) & can have "ERT" 10:30 until the park lets everyone in. Monday & Tuesday, Volcano opened at 11.
I called the park and they said it was closed but are they just saying that because it might be open but they don't want to dissapoint you? p_r_c should I get in line at 11 for it ifg it says it is closed or should I wait until they start testing with riders? Also do they make a line or just a mob. On Superman at SFNe everyone pushed there way through is it like that or do they make a regular line?

Well it looks like the "Hypersonic is Back!" is on PKD's website again...
Yup but why do you think they took the signs out of the park?

Volcano opened at 10:30 on Tuesday. When the rope dropped, the guy led us to volcano, and we hopped on with about a 4 train wait.

Did you get to ride Hypersonic XLC that day? It sounds like a good idea to hit Volcano if it says XLC is closed then walk over to Hypersonic after Volcano?
