I was just wondering how many times people like to ride a coaster in one visit to a park? Obviously, this will be be influenced by how long the lines are, and how many coasters are there.
Personally, I like to ride a new coaster once in the front, once in the back, then again in which ever seat was best. I then move on to something else. If I like the coaster, I'd ride it again once or twice before I leave.
Riding 5 more than five times would give me a headache, and take away the thrill of the ride.

#Life is a rollercoaster you just gotta ride it#
If I find the ride good in the front seat, usually take the front of that coaster 5-10 times in a day(most coasters I like have high capacity).

Talon is going to rock, roll, and take its toll!
Oooh, power-riding, one of my favorite things in life. If there is no line and I really dig the coaster, I will sit there for as long as my heart desires. Highest counts on a coaster in one day would be Montu at 40 (including 29 rides in a row without leaving the station). Raging Bull 29 on media day. Shivering Timbers with about 40 or more (I'm not 100% sure, but I rode the thing basically non-stop for over 10hrs on Timbers Fest, so it probably is more). Legend at Holiday World EASILY over 30 if not 40 for the GOCC event in Sept. Only 26 rides on Legend for SRM. MF 8 times in one night (first night of Halloweekends) was the most I got on that one. Batman the Ride at SFGAm 18 times in a row without leaving the station on an employee ride night.
Other coasters where I ride ten or more times in one day are:
Boulder Dash
Superman Ultimate Escape
Batman Knight Flight
Villain
Medusa at SFGAd
Superman RoS SFDL
Kumba
Gwazi
Dueling Dragons (counting both tracks, almost 40 in a day)
Incredible Hulk Coaster
Kraken
God, the more I think about it, the more it seems that my top coasters always get 10 or more rides a visit if the line permits.
Are any of the rest of you buzzers like me where you simply must have the most rides on your favorites and only one or even none on some of the others at a park? I mean, I always feel like I got the most out of my visits when I get on every coaster at least once, and ride my favs at least 5-10 times.
Any other power-riders/marathoners out there?
BTW, great topic, I've always wondered how other people "ride."

I've done Raptor, Mantis, Magnum, and MF 4 times along with all the other CP coasters in 1 day. That's quite an accomplishment on a busy day.
Last summer, for me it was Millennium Force (16 times during one night at Millennium Mania), The Beast (10 times in one day), and Raging Bull (16 times in two days).
Can't get enough of Raging Bull!!!!
If it's somthing I never rode I'll hit it once either front or back. If the lines short I'll hit it several more times before moving on.
If i'm at a big park with around 10 coasters I'll hit everything at least once or twice then back to my favorites for the marathons.
My favorite is going to Knoebels durring the first week of school. The parks still open all day and everything is walk on. The only waits are for the train to get back to the station or for the ride to stop. Last time I hit every seat on Twister left and right sides, at least a dozen flights on the Flyers (some were even my own private rides) :)and more circuits on the Phoenix in seat 3 than I can count.

Legendary you have me almost in tears of jealousy! How do you do it? I can't imagine finding that much time in a day to ride a ride that many times. When did you go to BGT and ride Montu 29 times?!? I thought that place was crowded. When do you go to parks on like monsoon days or something? You have to give me advice of how to do what you do.

Jack, who can't wait for Opening Day 2001...
I once rode Top Gun at Wonderland(SLC) 45 times in a row...
Thank god for Tylenol 3... :)
LOL sfga2001! I went to BGT in March of 1998 for four and a half days in a row. The first day I was there I only rode Montu 8 times. The second day which was a Monday, it was SO INCREDIBLY DEAD. They were running two trains on Montu and Kumba, and since I had fallen in love with Montu, I just rode and rode and rode. I was by myself while my sister and mom were shopping, so I just filled in the empty seats for almost two hours. It was the best!
If you're with a friend or a couple of friends, don't be afraid to split up and grab empty seats if the park policy allows. You get SO many rides in, and usually, there will be two open seats so you can ride next to your friend. That's how I get so many rides in.
Joe, who rode Montu 94 times in 4.5 days back in March of 1998. :)

I do what I can. I had LOTS of driving to do between parks, which limited multiple rides. I still managed to get...
The Legend 7 laps
Raven 11 laps
Shivering Timbers 10 laps (+1 lap of every other coaster there)
Roar & Medusa (West) 4 laps each
Goliath 5 laps
Riddler 5 laps
Batman:TR 5 laps
Ghostrider: around 70 laps (I lost count)
Just today I rode Ghostrider 10 laps in a row, in about 1 hour.

"X" marks the spot in 2001!
I don't know why, but my body can't really handle re-rides very well. After riding the Cenntenial Screamer (Huss Enterprise) at Lagoon two consecutive times, I passed out on the platform and nearly gave everyone around me a heart attack. The most I've ever ridden a coaster in one day was CP's Raptor, with 3 rides throughout the day. Second is Montezooma's Revenge at KBF, with 2 times in a span of about an hour. During the second ride, after he had launced, looped and where continuing up the spire, I blacked out. Needless to say, I never dare take in more than 2 re-rides in a day.
I topped out at 42 on Magnum in one day. Extreme weather conditions made me ask what I was thinking, but hey, it's a day I won't soon forget.
http://www.guidetothepoint.com/thepoint/news/default.asp?newsID=129 It was also the day Dan had his 1,000th ride.

The most was 17 times straight doing the empty seat fill-in on Dueling Dragons Ice. Then we had 11 on DD Fire. It was *so* fun! We also had 2 extra accidental rides on the Hulk that same day. The first time was when we had no clue how to open the seat belts. The second, because the couple getting ready to get on insisted that we ride with them. Ok. nice people. Works for me. :) Since I have a season pass to PKI, we've done 10 straight rides on Top Gun, FoFear, AdvEx, and the Racer. During a whole day at PKI, we always end up riding Racer the most. Up to 15 times before. Sadly, it was a day w/o The Beast though.

I don't like to over do the riding. The novelty of the ride wears out and I am afraid I may leave the park with a bad impression of a ride. 2 - 3 times max on a great ride.

All time Top 5: (1) Milleniun Force (2) Alpengeist (3) Hulk (4) Ice Dragon (5) Raptor
I'm at usually 2-3 rides on each good coaster a day. I'd like to get more in, but I also like to ride other rides.

You build it, I'll ride it...eventually
I like to start by riding each coaster in the park once, then hit the ones I like the best over and over the rest of the day. Pretty amateur next to you guys, but I did ride Apollo's Chariot 21 times in one weekend. (It is SO sweet.) As soon as we got off, we would get right back in line, which moves fast. (Had to fit in Alpengeist too, you know. Can't be greedy.)
Just this past weekend at the Coaster Solace we were able to sit in Ghostrider for about 45 mins straight. What a great time! I did Desperado 80 times in a day, easily could have been 100 but we took breaks for lunch. On my past visit to Holiday world we bounced back and fourth all day between The Raven and The Legend. I dont think we ever left Halloween town, LOL. At Goliathon last summer we spent the entire 2 hours of ERT on the back row of Batman. Most of the time we were the only ones on the train, whoopin and a hollerin every single time :)

Say no, to lap bar nazis!
Well, under normal circumstances, I will only ride a coaster a max of twice in any given day. There have been a few notable exceptions;
Top Gun: The Jet Coaster @ Carowinds - I rode this one once in the back, once in the front, and a final night front seat ride (AWESOME).
Villian @ SFO - I rode in the front, then in the front again with Thrillerman, and since the ride was about to close, we snuck in a final backseat ride (which was suprisingly less painful ;))
S:ROS @ SFA - Well for the Coaster Zombies SFA Invasion, Wild One and I rode S:ROS about 25+ times without getting off. We would simply change seats every so often, like a "Fire Drill". Thats also how I discovered that seat 2-2 blue is my personal favorite (left side :))
But for the most part, I'm with family or friends and none of them are into stuff like that. I have to admitt, I was getting a little bored after about ride 17 as well. However, I am SO looking forward to SRM. With two coasters, there can be a little variety =].

Well, it really varies for me. Usually I like to ride a good coaster at least 4 or 5 times a day. Sometimes more if the line isn't very long. I've ridden Medusa at SFMW around 5 times in one day, Roar around 3, Riddler's around 3 and so on and so forth. I think the most I've ever ridden a coaster is on Space Mountain at DL. I think my fiancee and I hit that ride at least 10 times one day in 1997. We were there for a week after Labor Day and the park was absolutley barren. Walk on's for everything except Splash Mountain because of the 95 degree heat. Anyways, peace. :)
