I'm glad that, for once, an enthusiast was actually concerned about his own safety. I mean, how often does that happen? How many people would be purposely undoing their seatbelts and getting the kind of air that Kyle decided was not safe. Aside from the dramatics, I say "Bravo!"

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I too have a few problems with this trip report. I can see how getting some air time on a couple of coasters can excite a young kid, but isn't that what a TRUE coaster enthusiast lives for in a ride. If I were you, Kyle, I would crap my pants with joy. I was certain the trip report was bogus when I got to the portion about the flying scooters. To say that the ride is not thrilling is practically a sin. Heck, I have fun on the flying birds at Holiday World and they move so slow they are almost going backwards. The other part that was just stupid, was when you rated the Galaxi coaster as a eight out of ten. That tells me right there that you are not a seasoned coaster rider and that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I was once an eager and active youth like you, and I too sent my angry letters to parks. But I realized that I was just being an jerk. I guess the part that angers me the most about your trip report is that A LOT of people are going to get in trouble for this. I am not sure if you realize how many people are going to have this jammed down their throat in the morning. I do agree that the actions of a few of the employees may have been unacceptable, but this will affect many people. I do not believe that this was the correct way to complain about your problems.

How's that for drama queen?

PS: For the guy posted above and the others who agree with Kyle, you don't understand the inner workings of a 14 year old boy. There was no danger, and he never actually feared for his life. It may have been a scary ride, but there was never any actual life threatening feeling. When you are that old and relatively new to coaster-ing and people are talking about things you have never heard of, you have to invent something that you are an expert at, or something that will make people listen to you. Every kid does it at some point in their life to get attention and get their foot in the door. *** Edited 7/7/2004 4:14:33 AM UTC by CoasterMatt***

River King Mine Train Op 2004
Mr. Freeze Op 2005

I really don't give a damn how many people get this shoved down there throats in the morning, because more or less its people who deserve to have it shoved down their throats.

Just because you don't think the galaxi is a fun ride because you rode 1 million coasters, or whatever your little ego tells you you rode, doesn't mean I think the Galaxi is a bad ride. A real coaster enthusiast would respect my opinion of the coaster, argue a few points maybe, but, in the end still respect my opinion of it. Not call me inexperienced.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have been to Great America, Cedar Point, All the Florida Parks, and Hershey Park. I am pretty damned seasoned. I am not an expert on rollercoasters. I enjoy them.

Just because you don't agree with one of my ratings does not mean its because I have no idea what I am talking about. I bet there are a lot of people who think the Galaxi is fun. So please don't accuse me of being a coaster amateur. Because from the post above my total opinion of you is

That you make yourself think your better then 14 year old kids because you can drive to different places around the world and go on stupid ass rollercoasters. Furthermore, you think your opinion of something outweighs mine because you have more experience, and I am sorry but that is totally not true. It is good that you expressed your opinion of the coaster, but saying that I am a stupid little 14 year old kid who doesn't know what I am talking about, further proves my point that some of you don't take me seriously even though I have all the coaster rights as the rest of you, except I don't have 1500 coasters to my track record. *** Edited 7/7/2004 5:31:06 AM UTC by Kyle Fobe***

Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!

Oh, and you have no idea if there was a life threatning feeling or not, because I think I can decide when my life is endanger or not, not you. I was scared during that ride because I didnt have all the restraints holding me in. It is not some manifestation from my mind that I told all of you just so you could be impressed or whatever.

Very good, but considerably less amusing than Kyle.

Kyle, if you would have ridden that coaster before it had seat belts installed, would you still consider it a life threatning coaster? I know how you feel, when I was around 10, I had a ride on American Eagle before they installed individual lap bars and I had a ride that scared that crap out of me. I wouldn't call it life threatning, but I didn't ride that ride for at least a couple years (next time I got on Eagle, they had individual lap bars and I loved the coaster).

Also, the people above are not trying to go against you because you are 14. Instead, look at it this way.. We were all 14 at one time and most of us enthusiasts have had similar ideas & experiences like you are going through now with your coasters.

A little note, as you probably won't believe us now, keep a copy of this trip report with you and look at it in a few years or so. A lot of people around distancing themselves from their teen years enough to have gone through the growing up and thinking you know everything numerous times. When I was your age, I thought I knew everything, as I did when I was 16, 18, 20, 22, etc...

HH is running the best ever I guess, because there are at least 5 moments of airtime. Plus, were you at IB riding HH yesterday? If not, then don't tell me I didn't get airtime on it.

I wish I would have been riding with you Monday, because I got more air on Cornball than HH.

I'm done kicking this horse.

Kyle, I really don't think anybody here thinks your "stupid". A bit over dramatic perhaps, as a lot of young folks your age are at times, but not stupid. Keep riding coasters safely, and posting those trip reports and above all, please remember that it's just roller coasters and amusement parks. They only make up a tiny fraction of life (or they should) so don't sweat the small stuff dude.

You tellem sista (snap snap)

I have been enjoying this drivel all along, but this part had me rolling. :)

Fate is the path of least resistance.

I liked it better when Kyle pretended to be stupid, and didn't use words like "manifestation."

Kids sure grow up quickly these days!

I have been to Great America, Cedar Point, All the Florida Parks, and Hershey Park. I am pretty damned seasoned.

But yet not so seasoned to know that the proper name is HERSHEYPARK (hasn't gone by Hershey Park since, oh, before you were born)

Also... ALL of the Florida parks? Of course you mean Disney Parks, Sea World Orlando, Universal's two parks, Busch Gardens Tampa, Boomers (home of the Hurricane), the soon to be defunct Miracle Strip Amusement Park, and even little Old Town? Or just the obvious ones in and around the kingdom of the mouse?

Nothing funnier than when 14 year olds try to swear to make themselves look more mature.

(Drat! I tried to resist smart a**ed comments... but sometimes some folks just deserve it.)

OK... that only proves you're a coaster dork if you're going to pick on the way the park spells its name.

It's not whether you're seasoned, it's what you're seasoned with.

Rosemary for pork, sage for chicken, piss and vinegar for the snot-nosed and mouthy.

Really, what do you expect people to do? Hold you shoulder high and parade you around the board?

Hello? McFly? Clean those spectacles and take another look...it's a dicussion board! Of course people are gonna disagree with you. Now watch your language 'fore I tell your Mommy! Do you wanna chew another bar of Lifebuoy? Do you?

Especially when (if we're going to be that picky on spelling) Boomers is actually Boomers! (with the exclamation point)

...oh wait, now I'm a dork!

Don't forget Uncle Bernie's is in Florida too - and that still doesn't include all the places in FL you can ride a coaster. (since we're being anal and all :) )

Maybe it would have been appropriate to word it as "been to all the Orlando parks" in Kyle's case - unless he has indeed been to all the FL parks - which is not unreasonable.

-Gonch
been to all the FL parks SLFAKE listed except Miracle Beach, which I passed on at least twice in the past on the way to visit the in-laws...d'oh!

I still have two OPERATING "parks" to get to in FL....King Richards' was closed last time I was in Naples (work trip, ALMOST got me a credit, LOL), and of course the hardest credit to get in all of FL, the PBA park in Miami...

http://www.rcdb.com/locationdetail753.htm

And NOW, upon further review, I find not one, but TWO *other* parks in FL....Kidstar Park and Cobra Adventure Park.

I'm not even "seasoned" in my OWN state, ROFL...:)

Don't even get me started on Melinnium... or is it Mellinium... or is it Melinium... or is it Melllinium... or is it Mellinnium... or is it...

(Kyle... take note. The above is how you reply when you post something so blatantly stupid... such as my HERSHEYPARK vs Hershey Park comment... and you take heat for it...)

Man! I was going to tell folks to take it easy on you until I read this:

I think we should be talking about "you're" well-seasoned English. ;)

It's all good. I flunked high-school English so I'm not one to talk, but you could try a little harder.
