How Does One Find Locals to Ride With?

"Coaster 20 Questions" *is* a great way to pass the time while on a long drive. And the nice thing is that you can customize the rules for the geek-level of the people you're playing with, i.e. "only operating coasters in the USA." or, for the more geeky, "anything goes."

AV Matt...didn't you stump us all on your first turn? Shussboomer or something like that?

Acoustic Viscosity's avatar
Yes, I did. :) I was very proud of that, as I was in the presence of some great coaster minds and didn't think I'd be able to stump ALL of you. :)
Didn't Rob stump us first with that Japanese oddity?
Then we played movie 20 questions...that just didn't work too well. :) *** Edited 11/26/2005 11:55:45 PM UTC by Acoustic Viscosity***

Sounds like a great idea for a new thread. Uh-huh, Uh-huh. ;)

It's not as fun when you have RCDB at your fingertips.

mOOSH, I didn't know there was an "Anything Goes" forum here. Wait..

Somebody forgot their meds today...

Don't worry Brian I thought I got lost myself for a while when Matt and Clint took over. :-)

When Moosh used my "other" name, I did a double-take.

Best way to meet new people:

"Drive friendly. It's the Texas way."

Speaking of, anyone headed to this DW holiday craziness from the general area of the country known as Texas?

One thing I've done for the most part is meet people in groups. I didn't meet Andy in a group, but we met at Carowinds. And, after looking at Andy's pic, how harmful could he be?

Yeah, but don't let Clint's pic fool you - he's not harmless at all. Talk about a vomitron.

The way that I've met most people (aside from the CBuzz calendar) was to just show up at events and tag along with a crowd. You'll pretty quickly be able to recognize people at events from the Buzz and then it's just a matter of introducing yourself.

Screen names DO help, especially if you are "new" and haven't really met very many people. I didn't start recognizing people at SRM '03 until they started writing their Cbuzz screen names on their badges, then it was like "Ohhhh! Hey! You are _____!"

LOL, Andy. I should have known you'd find a way to work in "The Texas Way." :)

Actually, Andy, now that I've found Ginger, my life has never been the same. I don't vomit on people I've just met or anything anymore ;).

I don't think I stumped you guys. I did pick Daidarasaurus, but Moosh got it... he just didn't pronounce it correctly. ;)

Coaster 20 questions IS a very good call when you're in a vehicle barely comfortable with 4 people, let alone crammed with 5.

...takes your mind off the sweatiness...... :)

Wow.. I think this thread just got taken over by.... "a group" ;) (don't worry Matt... I forgot where I was there for a second too)

As for coaster 20 questions, I've only played it once with moosh, and it was pretty fun. I learned a lot, too! :)

For the record, I love playing Coaster 20 Questions. It is very fun to try and come up with a coaster that can stump the group. And it really helps pass the time. Before you know it, you've gone all the way from Snoqualmie, WA to Coeur d'Alene, ID.
