How about a Dollywood event?

How would you feel about an event at Dollywood next year?

I might even consider going to this.

My suggestion if you do? Opt for food vouchers and don't do the meal. This is coming from someone who has done the group meal thing (meaning I was responsible for setting it up) and I wish I'd taken the advice given me about meal vouchers instead.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Well, those kinds of details tend to leave us at the mercy of a park, so we'll have to see.

Would love it, please do. There is an immense amount of other things to see and do in that area, and a never ending supply of accommodations. I just spent a week motorcycling the area.

I think it's a great idea! :)

Obviously it depends what weekend the event ends up being, but a Dollywood trip is looking more and more likely for me next year, so I'd be interested!

Thinking about planning a trip next year so yes.

I'd prefer Juneish but most events are in the fall - My concern is the heat levels there in August/September - It can fluctuate and that area is a mecca for crowds during the hey day of summer. Of course ride opening dates are a concern, but maybe an event in the beginning of summer could draw a good turnout as well?

They seem pretty flexible about it. In fact, I think ACE started doing food vouchers (an ACE rep suggested it to me and I wish I'd listened).

The first year I set up the food there were about twenty of us so they put us in the back room of the buffet restaurant and the food was fine.

The next time we had like 40 people and they did their meal thing. Very meh. The park food is outstanding but having the catered buffet wasn't. I was told by quite a few before I booked it the second time that I'd likely regret doing so.

The problem I see with vouchers is that people are not expected to eat with the group. Eating as a group is a good time for people to get acquainted with each other.

Maybe there is a way to have good catered food instead of bad catered food?

...But I've never been to a CB event, so what do I know.

You probably know this already, but avoid Tennessee football weekends like the plague. Too late into the fall hits leaf-peeping season, and lodging prices will sky-rocket.

Man, I'd really like to do this.

Although if I go, Lord Gonchar won't.

Hi

I would love to go to Dollywood. My only request would be to not hold the event to close to ACE Convention which is being hosted by Dollywood and will be from June 17th to 23rd.

I can guarantee you 5 attendees from this group if you do it :)

We're talking about a date closer to spring than fall. They're doing the ACE convention in June, so it wouldn't likely be during that month. I would bet more on May than anything else.

Just space it out from HWN ;-). A two week buffer would be nice so that I don't do 2 trips in one pay day.
