Holiday world to get something BIG for 2002!

What I don't get is why you guys honestly don't think that they can afford say a B&M, when they in all honesty they can.  But the new ride will be in the waterpark as Paula and Lynch have stated.

Dark Ride
UGH, doesn't anyone here listen?;)  It's already been stated numerous times that it WILL be an attraction for Splashin' Safari, so please stop saying "B&M floorless/sitdown" or "Intamin giga", because it's going to be a *wet* ride.  Thank you.:)

Here's an e-mail I just got back from them

Yes, that information is on our website that we'll be announcing for on Thursday. Sorry, no sneak previews!

SFMMANIAC, I just knew that plunging upside-down into water was dangerous...j/k, no disrepesct intended.  It just amazes me how often the media "reports" so inaccurately as to mislead even the attentive audience members.  Also, I must agree completely with Raven_Rider, Splashin' Safari has no use for a giga...

Did any one think of a setpoint swing thing?
I don't know the park very well aside from the current rides they have, but would it be feasible for the park to install both an S&S Combo Shot (Just one tower) & A new slide?

ProgRay, I read the top park of your post first and my heart stopped. Don't ever scare me like that again! :)
but what in splashin' safari, maybe somthing like hershey's new coaster.

Why do they say stuff like "BIG" when they know it will be a water slide or water ride? If they say they are getting a new attraction, and then announce a water ride, everyone is happy. If they say it will be BIG, and then it is a water ride, everyone is let down because they think of BIG as a huge new coaser, brand new design, or something very expensive. That is the reason I think PKI's announcement was so disappointing. Sure, people are happy with a non coaster ride, but they were expecting a giga or something humongous, because PKI hyped it so much. If PKI wouldn't have hyped it so much, people would have said "Cool!", but since they hyped the ride so much, everyone was like "Oh, that's there big announcement? That is nothing. I was expecting something amazing."

Bull rides: 103
Batman rides: 61

There's going to be alot of people disappointed on this board when they announce on the 4th.  No it's not a Floorless or a Giga expect something to happen in the waterpark.
They are talkin' big to the GP, big to us is a coaster of some sort, but as PKI showed us there not always talking to us.  So sit tight, and keep your panty hose on til the 4th.

Ummm...well, we say it's big, because it IS big!

Consider the following:

1. It is the largest expansion project ever for Splashin' Safari.

2. It will be the Biggest/Tallest "thing" in Splashin' Safari.

3. It will be the largest...(find out *what* on Oct. 4)...in the world.

4. It's taller than The Raven.

If you were doing marketing, sales or PR for our park, wouldn't you use the word "big"?

Please keep in mind that our website is designed with the General Public in mind. The majority of our Guests will be thrilled with this new project.

I realize there are some hard-core enthusiasts who will be disappointed with anything short of a huge coaster, but we have to build our expansion around what's right for the park--and we very much need more capacity in our water park.

Look on the bright side -- the more people we can accommodate in Splashin' Safari, the shorter the lines at The Raven and The Legend. :0)

17 Parks In the 2001 Season!

Welcome aboard, Paula!  (Yes, I realize you've been a member for a while, but this IS your first post)

I'm actually looking forward to Holiday World's announcement even if it ISN'T a coaster.  They're doing what's right for the park, and that's always good news.

(And that includes NOT selling out to Six Flags.  Why would Six Flags even be interested, with Kentucky Kingdom so close?  Ok, because Holiday World is a better park, but besides that ;) )

Someone missed the "please keep in mind that this is a joke" line at the bottom of ProgRay's post...

Of course SF didn't buy Holiday World, and neither will anyone else.

No, no...a thousand times, No! Someone posted this as a joke.

Our beloved patriarch, Bill Koch, passed away 9/17, so I realize some may wonder about our future. Mr. Koch was very forward thinking and had completely turned the parks over to his five children several years ago. Will has been running the place for years and isn't going anywhere.

We have three flags at our entrance--the American flag, a Holiday World flag and a Splashin' Safari flag. There are absolutely no plans to add any more!

Thanks for the opportunity to clear this up!

Paula

If what you guys are saying is true...  (1) water park based, and (2) that Holiday World is geared more toward family rides than thrill bonanzas, I wonder if it's a possibility that they could build an equivalant of a Super Saturator coaster like they have at PC?  It looks campy, but after you ride it, you realize how much fun it is.  Me personally, I took an analytical approach to it to see exactly who I could drench the most with my one pull of the lever.  Lots of fun, and definitely something that would fit it and still provide a good thrill.
