Hey Check out the Latest on Visionland Theme Park

Yeah Raptor, I was thinking the same thing. 5 million seems like a lot more than I expected for a USED boomerang. Rampage was custom-designed and even though it was wood and built in 98, it still didn't cost as much and is a much better ride. I hope the next coaster will be much bigger and better.
5 Mill, That american? Probably why you know.

Also another reason for the high price is that SUNWAY (WLS managment) wanted high price for everything. The probe hasn't even been sold yet. So to get rid of it, they have let a company in the U.K which deals with the sale of 2nd hand rides.

Sunway where rip-off's. And Wonderland didn't deserve to turn out what it is now. An Industrial Estate.

Let me assure you that you will not be disappointed with Demon aka Zoomerang. You have been given your money's worth. It is a great ride, and I am glad it didn't goto the scrap yard. But i am not happy that I have to goto visionland to ride my baby. But owell. There have also been talks that the Bush Beast (Our once Woodie) to be preserved for local heritage. As it was the Largest Woodie in the Sourthern Hemisphere.

Anyway, you will not be disappointed with this ride. It certainly is fantastic. And you will be riding the ride which has been re-located 3 times. 1st from World Expo in Bris, then to Wonderland, now to visionland.

Hey for all Visionland fans out there: When are we fans going to get our own forum or message board so we can talk about our park like fans of other parks like Six Flags, Disney, Cedar Fair, etc?

I would set one up, but the problem is the park is too small for any real heavy discussion and high member interest.

Hey, for those of you who haven't seen the latest pics of the Construction at Visionland, look here at pics #7-11. On pic #9 you can see the return of Cahaba Falls, the log flume ride. You have to look in the background and spot the lift.

Also, there have been changes made to the park's website:

While checking out the rcdb.com site I noticed something in the last picture. It's weird to see the gap in the track before the black section of the vertical loop. Looks like that section is connected...guess that they'll have to use some "filler" on that. Hehehe =)
Yeah, FScottS I noticed that too, maybe Bosshawk can shed some light on that. I'm sure that will be taken care of prior to testing, which should take place by Mid-late April right before opening day, May 8th. Even though I have ridden both sit-down and inverted boomerangs, I still am excited for my home park, b/c it has so much potential.

As far as the $5M figure, that's the PARK putting a price tag on the entire installation...prep work, queue, station, infrastructure....

The coaster itself probably accounts for less than half the total cost of the project. ;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Hey, do you think Marketing is including in that costs?

You mean Visionland actually markets? ;)

LOL, couldn't *believe* it when I actually saw the SCreamin' Swings (yes, two) erected and ready to go at Wild Adventures....these smaller parks need to do a WAY better job of getting the word OUT! We do ALL we can, though...;)

Yep Visionland Markets, who doesn't? *** Edited 4/4/2005 2:15:42 PM UTC by Godsentone***
The new information on Alabama’s only theme park is continuing to come in daily. I am getting more and more excited about this year as I believe this will be the best year Visionland has seen since new owners, Southland Entertainment took over in late 2002.

First of all, I will remind everyone of the news reports of the hundreds of acres of land that the park purchased for not only the expansion of both Magic Adventures and Splash Beach parks, but for a campground, hotel and more parking. Even though, the park sold some of the land, probably to the city of Bessemer for a movie theater project, according to one source, they still have quite a bit of land to expand for the next 20 years.

Now concerning the #1 coaster in the park, Rampage:

According to maintenance and operations, the 2nd train of Rampage will return after a full refurbishment and detailing that will feature different shades of blue. It should be ready for Memorial Day Weekend or sooner. (I hope)

According to another source, the park will feature many new things this year, including a few name changes to rides and shops. Also, construction is currently progressing well on Zoomerang-the Boomerang coaster, which is set to open May 8th, 2005. I, personally wished Visionland went with something a little more than just your basic "boomerang" design. I guess I’m spoiled b/c of the great custom design (even though it resembles Megaphobia) of Rampage. I feel they could have gotten one of those 5-looping SLCs that Geauga Lake and Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom have, if they were spending $5 million on a Vekoma ride, but I still love the park and hope they made the best decision. I would also love to see one of those amazing flats like a flying frisbee or hammer-style ride in the near future. It's still early yet. I may get my wish!!!

Anyway, the park has refurbished an old thrill from the past--Cahaba Falls, a basic log flume ride. And the park has a slightly updated website, including a video related to Zoomerang, an updated click-and-view map, and the 2005 season schedule, but they have reported that there will be a whole new design. Also click on the "Tour the Parks" icon and view all the slides and videos. These will give you a bird's eye view of what the park has to offer now and if you look at the map, you will see that based upon all the land the park has behind both Magic Adventures and Splash Beach, there is definitely plenty of room for growth.

Last but not least--a park official emailed this to me after I emailed him. Check it out:

"At the moment we do not plan on putting a diary on the website (honestly, because the coaster is almost finished). The marketing has already begun. We have a billboard currently on I-459 and we have already done numerous mail outs (company outings, family reunions, Cool School Days, and group therapy). We currently do not have a date for the website completion and the turbo drop side was sold when Southland Ent. took over. New supports, new logs, new motors, and new lifts are some of numerous new additions to the Log Ride. As far as guest influence, it is key. Surveys and e-mails that we receive always play a part in our parks development. Thanks for your e-mail."

Pretty interesting huh? Another piece of news that I have is that Visionland received recognition from IAAPA in 2004 for their media/marketing commercials. And Rampage always receives rave reviews from ACE and other enthusiasts world-wide, so if you ever planned on making a visit to the park, 2005 will be a great time to do so.

Um, those "5-looping SLCs" aren't custom either...there are dozens of them across the US.

That being said, I'm looking forward to my first visit to Visionland this June!

Also, aren't those 5 looping SLC's upwards of $10 mill?

You know what? I saw one on RCDB that was $5 million a few years back so I know it is cheaper now.

BTW, the coaster is not $5 million, the entire investment for the entire season is that amount.

Awesome news that the 2nd train for Rampage is finally going to make it's way out of rehab! I hope it has some cool air brushing like the current one has.

According to in-park sources, it will be repaited with differennt shades of blue.

That should be a good contrast to the reds, oranges, and yellows of the current train. I'm just curious as to whether or not the 2nd train is going to have a cool air brushed design like the current one has. I guess we will have to wait and see when it arrives.
Hey speaking of speculation, I suggest that since we got Demon from Wonderland, why not just clean house and grab that major woodie and that family woodie, that way, we will have some good 'wood and we can just continue to add steel coasters!!!

Look at what is left:

Sell them to VL Paul H., lol!

In relation to the land Visionland has for future expansion, I will just say that the opportunities and possibilities will blow your mind.

First of all, here is an overhead view of the park, parking lot and administration building:

Visionland Overview

If you notice the flat land in the upper left hand corner, that is the parking lot.

The diagonal line on the left that runs southeast along side the parking lot and the water park side towards the Interstate is a gas line, I believe, and serves as a boundary to how far left Visionland can build.

Now, if you look back up at the parking lot, you notice a piece of land with trees between the water park and the parking lot, that is where the wave pool, speed slide and splashdown slide are located with more room left for future expansion.

Now on the other side of the park entrance, which is right next to this piece of land I just described above, there is a very large piece of land that was partially occupied by the Dino Exhibit back in 1999. This land is now only home to the Space Shot and in October, Scarefest attractions, but as you can see, would be more than enough room for a nice coaster as well as other attractions big or small, especially an expansion to Marvel City, the children's area right below this patch of land.

Now on the far right hand side of the park is the Administration building and the parking lot. If you move back to the left there is a long stretch of land that a road wraps around, this is the location of Zoomerang-the boomerang coaster. Just south of the Zoomerang site is the World-class Rampage coaster.

Now all that land you see from the rear of the park all the way down to the Interstate, is wooded and available for a massive expansion. (You can also click the South button once to see the land all the way to the Interstate) My guess is that Visionland wants to become more visible from the Interstate and this may take 10-15 years to accomplish b/c of how far the majority of the park is from the Interstate but it will happen.

I'm just excited that they have the opportunity to grow and don't have to worry about land problems as many parks do. *** Edited 4/11/2005 5:39:03 PM UTC by Godsentone*** *** Edited 4/11/2005 5:41:01 PM UTC by Godsentone***
