Hershey Teasing 2008 Attraction

Air Time,

Tell us where you found this clue. thanks.

That was me that unscrambled the puzzle over on that 'other' site.

Honestly, it's such a mess of track that it's hard to understand what's going on in it even when unscrambled.

If it's really like that though ... well I'd be excited!

Mike

I found it while reading a site (one of many) discussing the "mystery". I hadn't seen it here, so I thought I'd share it.

I can't help but notice some similarities between the final puzzle and the picture on nantimi's home page...

I recorded the subliminal flash with my digital camera and was able to the capture the frame. Now all I need to do is print out, cut it up and put it together. I can see that there's lots of arrows. It could be fun--or not.

This one I can get: "c2lsdmVyIGFuZCBvcmFuZ2U=" is a Base64-encoded string (it's what MIME email uses). It decodes to "silver and orange".

There's your support and track colors.

I don't know, it's progressed from hidden or faint links and cryptic e-mails to alternate text and anagrammed links to this: ---->

http://www.nantimi.com/c2lsdmVyIGFuZCBvcmFuZ2U=.html

I'm curious how and where that was "discovered." Did it come from an e-mail? Did someone crack the login? How many people can check out every forum site discussing this? I'll just have to believe it's a few well-placed angels revealing these mysteries to us.

If further participation in this easter egg hunt requires advance knowledge of writing code and manipulating images, I've about hit the limit of how far I can go. Shame too, it was quite interesting when everyone could play along. It seems like all the latest "discoveries" are coming from 7-post angels. It's not as much fun anymore, nantimi.

^^Hey, thanks RGB....its always nice to know that you can come to a place and be personally attacked.

So it seems as though you feel that "where" the information came from is somehow more important than the information itself.

Fine.

As I said before, I'm willing to give the source for any information that I share. Here it is: http://www.rollercoasterpro.com/forum/showpost.php?p=152987&postcount=255

Happy now?

Not attacking you personally, Air Time. I don't know you from Pope Benedict or Luke Nanavati. If you think that's an attack, you don't want to be around me when I'm really angry about something.

You said you got it from another website, and that's fair. My question was how someone came up with a link with that apparent mish-mash of characters. Turning them/travelled.thRu into truthRevealed.html is rather easy to see. This link wasn't. (BTW, I also saw on "another site" someone claiming to be in regular e-mail contact with nantimi, and receiving additional help searching for and solving clues.)

bit0mike somewhat explained it in his post above-- that the code in the link for the puzzle is the phrase "silver and orange" in base64. OK, how many people here are versed in base64? I know I haven't had it since... never.

Like I said above, if figuring out any more clues involves advanced knowledge of programming and such, count me out. If most people here can follow, that's cool-- I know my computer skills don't lean in that direction.

The Nantimi folk appear to be banking on the assumption that most enthusiasts are also highly knowledgable about programming, and they may be right. I don't know. If so, they'll be the ones who'll maintain interest for the next 11 days.

base64 is only slightly more obscure than binary... who writes in binary? I sure don't and I decoded that email all on my own (with the help of a 2 minute google search). The difference to me is that base64 is less recognizable, and thus a slightly more difficult clue to solve.

That's not meant as a personal attack though, I just don't think increased clue difficulty = less fun/interest, and I think you might have some more fun with this if you try and look at it that way. I'm all for it, I think without question that the game should get harder as it goes along. Otherwise everyone would solve it, and it would be no different than Hershey sending everyone on the coaster forums a full-screen, 3d rendering of the coaster.

I still think it's fun, and I say game on.

Yeah, esepcially considering that if you look back through this thread every single new lead (including completely random URLs) have come from that same poster.

It just feels like being 'fed' the next tidbit each time to keep interest.

But what do I know? ;)

It becomes less fun when we keep hitting these dead ends. I mean, after all the clues we've figured out and decoded, where and what have we gotten? A few pics that serve as more dead ends?

So, here are all the clues I've seen so far (reviewing the clues together helps me think. Maybe it will for you guys too):

- 2 Pics - http://www.nantimi.com/truthRevealed.html, http://www.nantimi.com/c2lsdmVyIGFuZCBvcmFuZ2U=.html

- Silver and Orange, which gave us the second pic.

- 4 email addresses (info/ job/ hyper/ luke @nantimi.com). The bold are the ones that responded to me.

- A binary system from the hyper e-mail address revealing a nother email address (ckrets @nantimi.com)

- A letter to Kate about a delivery for the big announcement. http://www.nantimi.com/iiiiiiiiiii.html

Did I miss anything?

Bit0mike mentioned that the Silver and Orange clue was a MIME Base64 encoding, which is interesting, becasue the site specifically connects Donan Michael to the PEM system.

"He is a specialist in BASE64 encryption, and his landmark paper on Privacy-enhanced Electronic Mail, completed in 1987..."

Translating computer language is not my thing, so is there a way to translate Silver and Orange into a PEM code?

No offense taken, BB. I don't have a problem with more difficult clues, as long as everyone has the resources to play along.

Anyway, I don't write in binary OR base64. Just English and Ukrainian, plus I can read some Polish. To most people here, two of the three are foreign (though sometimes I wonder about the third as well), just as binary and base64 are to me. A clue given in Cyrillic letters would be challenging to me, but impossible to figure for mostly everyone else here. It would definitely be more difficult, but would it be more fun?

If the hunt is reduced to waiting around for someone to post some link or picture that seemingly appeared from nowhere, I would find that neither fun nor interesting. IMO, it would be more exciting staring at the Flying Turns webcam waiting for it to refresh.

Shirley that's just a coincidence ;)

Hey guys, I don't know how many of you have seen this but there was an interview with someone from nantimi posted over at coasterdom the other day. For those who ahvent seen it heres the link: http://www.coasterdom.com/2007/09/14/exclusive-interview-with-a-source-from-nantimi/

Look Out Its Medusa Man!
It is a coincidence, and don't call him Shirley. :)
"Well, if you are referring to Martin from Nantimi,"

??????

Isn't Jake talking to Nantimi? Why would they say 'from Nantimi'? Who is Jake and who is he talking to????

"I can’t speak for him (I’m just borrowing his email for now)"

Is there a clue here??? The source from Nantimi is using Martin's e-mail address. What would happen if we e-mailed Martin? Luke's e-mail, according to the letter to Kate, is luke@nantimi.com. Am I safe to assume that Martin's is martin@nantimi.com?

So many questions.

Alright.

The second image with the VERY rapid frame.... Is a slider puzzle!

I recognized it as Base64 because of the trailing equals sign. I do a lot of CGI programming and Basic HTTP authentication is Base64 encoded, as are a lot of cookies.

Yeah, I'm a neeeeeeeerd. :)

What about the PEM encoding for Silver and Orange?

Roller Coasters...my first true love.
not for nothin' but I found a base64 encoder/decoder by doing a google search. It wasn't that difficult.
