Hershey Teasing 2008 Attraction

So, Nantimi has hired a very distinguished web developer, they list all of his qualifications and then tell us that his favorite colors are silver and orange!!

I think we know what color the new ride will be now!!

Magnum part 2? :)

Seriously, looks like it's going to have something to do with fire.

Have a look at the 2nd post ("Consistent Change") and read the last line.

Might want to take this one with a little grain of salt. Anybody can register an account on blogspot. Not saying it's not legit but it's not exactly compelling like the stuff on the main site is. *** Edited 9/12/2007 11:34:25 PM UTC by matt.***

<ahem> Silverwood

"Lots of other coasters" not "all other coasters." The Maytag stuff I'm not getting, lots of other coasters have somewhat metal looking tube-like tunnels I think.

I understand a Blogger account isn't "bulletproof," but neither is anything else we're reading on the interweb. ;)

According to WhoIs, nantimi.com was registered August 14, 2007. The first post on this Blogger page is August 29. Anyone know when the nantimi site launched?

"And you thought the Boardwalk was hot in 2007."

Note to self: add appointment for 12:00 on September 27 to calendar at office.

Has anyone noticed that if you hover your mouse over the "things are not what they seem" picture, it says "game on"?
Trying to keep the facts straight in this whole thing.... where did the blog come from? Who are walter and claude? Why are there so many questions!!???
^ Walter and Claude are Bolliger and Mabillard, respectively.
Oh Thank God! For a second there I was worried about there being a slight case of split personality at intamin.... sorry I mean nantimi!
Even Hershey's regular website is saying the (an) announcement will be made September 27, not 10.02.07 as was previously mentioned. That was one thing I was wondering about on the nantimi site, mentioning what appeared to be the wrong date.

Tracing the IP back from some of the emails received from the site leads to a website involved in promoting Christian music. Hmmmm.

Why does 10.02.07 have to be a date?

And even if it is a date in most other parts of the world it would be read as 10 February, 2007.
In that case we all missed the announcement!

I still don't understand why Hershey would go to the trouble of baiting some coaster enthusiasts... unless they hope that hype generated by enthusiast organizations and websites such as this is going to reach larger media outlets?

But then Hershey isn't in most other parts of the world! Oh cool, then it's a 100,207 foot long coaster! Silver and orange! Or else it refers to Paul's 10th letter to the Corinthians, Chapter 2, verse 7. :)

Rob, why not? Do the larger media outlets read park blogs on a regular basis? What do you tell the media-- we'll be making an announcement on September 27 at noon, check back then?

Boards like these are followed by people from all over. I think getting the word out to enthusiasts who will be, um, enthusiastic about the idea of searching for clues and piecing together the puzzle is a much better marketing tool than a straight dry series of press releases. Even here, look how many more views and comments this thread has gotten compared to other posts for 2008 attractions at other parks.

Its not like doing a bad viral marketing compaign is expensive, and if they are lucky and it works the local news will pick it up and run a story on it.

^ I figured that's what parks always do- send out actual "teasers" to the local media. Isn't that usually enough to set the hype machine in motion without going to the expense of creating a fake website?
^ I don't know. Just who are all these late season announcements for anyway? The GP might think it's cool, then forget about it for 7 months. The local media might run one or two items on it, but by October, they're more interested in football games and Christmas sales.

I'd rather the local media not be in on this until the announcement is made anyway. If they caught word of it, the first thing they'd do is run over to Hershey and ask the head of PR what they know about this nantimi company. PR would deny it, or make up some lame story, and the whole item would just fall flat.

The blurbs HP is putting on the website might be kind of interesting to the GP and local media (who now aren't going to be bothered with it for the next two weeks), but the website stuff, is just in a different league. I think it's keen, peachy, and all that.
