Have you ever been on a roller coaster in the rain. It realy hurts. I've been on Raging Bull in the cold, windy, rain, and i had to cover my face it hurt so bad. Any other expirences?
I was in line for Twister at knoebles when it started to rain. The thing about this was it was a few days after it opened and the brakes weren't tested or covered. They stopped running for a minute or so then the empty train went out, then the half loaded train then we were on the first fully loaded rain run. We stopped no problem. it was a little faster than usual.

I can't wait for the 2000 season to start!!
I was at Fright Fest at SFGam and went on the Raging Bull also. The temperature was 40 degrees with the wind blowing hard. My face was completely frozen after riding this coaster. burrrrrrrrrrrr!
You don't know pain like I know pain...
Dan H. and I were marathoning Magnum the second to last weekend at Cedar Point. It was cold and rainy, and the number of guests thined out to around a couple of thousand if that. You could go a minute without someone passing you on the midway.
It was an historic day of sorts. For the first time in at least five years, Magnum was reduced to a one-train operation. After taking the second train off, they sent an empty train. The wind was coming off the lake so hard that it almost didn't crest the second hill. We couldn't believe they were even attempting to run the ride. Secretly, we hoped for a rollback.
That first lap was brutal. They wouldn't send the train unless it was completely loaded. We crested the lift, and nearly had to cover our faces from the blowing water. My eyes had never watered like this. We crested the second hill and slowed to a crawl... the supports passed underneath us one at a time, and so very slow. Finally, we started to pickup speed again. Through the tunnel, over the hill, through the open trims and in to the pretzel, where we again started to slow. While they normally would bruise your legs, the bunny hops on the way back provided no air time.
Much of the rest of the day went like this, and we ended the day with 42 laps. The next day, I went to work with windburn.
What one does to play on the coasters!

Jeff, are you saying that this coaster is that close to Lake Erie that you can feel the water from the waves on a windy day? Are they building these coasters on the beach?
No, the water was rain, which when blowing at you stings a bit when combined with a drop that exceeds 70 mph.

I have only ever rode Top Gun at PKI in the hail. I was in the front seat and one of the workers was right behind me. Lets just say my eyes were closed from depart til' return. The ride was closed right after our ride. Good fun!

In '98 I rode Big Dipper at the then Geauga Lake. It is a slow coaster, only like 35 mph i think but it still stung to get hit by this downpour.

I rode Mantis in the front car one morning in a light drizzle. It wasn't raining hard but it still hurt when it hit you. To make it worse, the trains were stacking (what a shocker, eh) and we had to sit...er, stand out in the rain until the train in front of us left the station. The rain did make it a fun ride though.
I rode Raptor in the front seat in the rain, it stung but was actually more fun than usual. We were the second or third to last train to go.

Yeah Baby!!!
It was raining at the Media day for Goliath IT HURTS RIDING IN THE FRONT!!!!!
I've ridden Mantis in the rain-HURTS-but fun-
rode Raptor 20x in the rain last year during Halloweekends-was a BLAST! Got drenched!!
Also people tend to "chicken out" in the rain so got to ride front car TONS of times too!
The ride ops even looked at us before the gate dropped down and it started to POUR again and said "you guys are NUTS!"
"Remember Cedar Point can not and will not be responsible for any Raptor rust that gets on your clothes-this rust may not come out"
(fyi--it didnt!!)

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight?
I rode that night as well (closing weekend, right?)... rust came out fine with a little bit of that nuclear stain remover spray soaked in the sink.

Last summer me and my friend rode The Incredible Hulk in the pouring rain. The rain had let up for a little while so they reopened the ride, but as soon as me and my friend got to the front of the it started to pour again. But they still let us ride. The rain hammered us from the moment we left the launch hill. And sitting in the last row made it even better. Now that was one hell of a ride
Thats right Jeff-we met that Friday night didnt we? I can still see exactly where the rust was-
dont forget the rust (Raptor pee) had a chance to really set in due to LONG drive home
then once home forgot about it so shirt sat in hamper for a few days too..
just gives me a valid excuse to buy another CP sweatshirt...

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight?
I've ridden a couple of coasters in the rain. I rode a small Arrow loop n' screw at th great escape called steamin demon...although not very fast or intense....it is very rough and the rain felt like pins going into your face. I also rode Goliath and Raptor in the front seat while it was raining and it was killer!!!!
One of my favorite coaster experiences was at the front of the Montu at BGT. It was a light drizzle and we were next to load in the front. The rain got slightly stronger and all of the workers were looking at each other and they all put their thumbs up. The minute our train left the station the rain really started to come down. Up the lift hill there was literally a bucket of water froming in my seat. The whole ride was quite the experience as rain drops slammed into my face. It really made the ride ten times better. QUITE THE EXPERIENCE!
Craig, maybe I am really confused but isn't Montu an inverted coaster like Raptor?

It is inverted, but what does that matter?

I'm sorry, now that I reread the message I realize that I really was confused. I thought he had said that a bucket of water formed in the car. Sorry to everyone!
